Chapter 201

"How are you feeling Roselyn?" Ariana asked as she walked into the master bedroom . "Fine . I'm already stir crazy . That b.a.s.t.a.r.d hit my Pascal and I want to pop him one . Right in the throat! I wanna see him on his hands and knees gasping for air! I'm on mat leave, does he think I'm afraid of him?! I don't care if I get fired! He'll have to pay me out along side with a years worth of mat leave! Between you, me and the bed post, I don't think he has the funds to pay me out . " Mrs . Dabney said with a raised a fist as she sat comfortably in bed . Veins had popped out around her knuckles .

"Wow . " Ariana said as she looked over to Mr . Dabney . "She's not kidding . " He said helplessly . "Why did he beat you up so badly? You didn't do anything, I mean you were just a messenger at most . " Ariana asked Mr . Dabney . He ruffled his salt and pepper hair with his right hand and sighed . "That's why . I ruined whatever plan he had for you . It was a good thing we kept you here . Well I mean it wasn't planned or anything and I didn't know what happened until afterwards but I'm sure we wanted to give you a specific punishment . Sinc he couldn't he became furious with me . " Mr . Dabney replied .

"I can only imagine what he had planned . . . " Ariana said with an involuntary s.h.i.+ver . She quickly started to rub her arms to give herself warmth . "The Headmaster brought the Remo family over to speak with my mother . The way with how things were going, it sounded like he was going to pressure my mother in making me officially engaged to that rapist . " Ariana said with great disgust . "Rapist?" Mr . Dabney asked awkwardly as he looked between his wife and Ariana . "I thought you told him . " Ariana said quietly . Mrs . Dabney shook her head no . "Honey . . . " Mrs . Dabney whispered .

"HE'S DEAD!" Mr . Dabney roared so loudly it caused Brie to stir . "Calm down!" Mrs . Dabney hissed as she reached over and picked Brie up from her small ba.s.sinet . She started to comfort Brie with soothing coos . "Calm down?! How can you be so calm?!" Mr . Dabney spat through clenched teeth as his face burned a bright red . "Because it's her battle not ours . Unless she wants us to fight it we can't step in . Why do you think she wanted extra training? She wants to do this on her own in her own way . We can not interfere or we will take away whatever power she has built up . " Mrs . Dabney said as she nodded towards Ariana's direction .

"I . . . " Mr . Dabney said as he slowly started to cool down as he looked at Ariana's conflicted face . "It's alright . I'm happy that you got mad for me but I need to face F-F-F-Fl . . . f*ck face on my own . At least for now . . . The only thing I don't understand is why the Headmaster is so h.e.l.l bent on getting me together with that sc.u.mbag . " Ariana asked as she clutched the sides of her dress .

"Might be because of your biological mother . " Roselyn said as Brie calmed down, the sweet sounds that came from her scrunched up face had gone silent and Brie was now peacefully feeding . "There is something else I need to tell you, actually there are a few things that I should tell you . " Ariana said as she let go of her dress, she had clutched it too hard and left wrinkles on the dress . The Dabneys waited patiently and quietly for Ariana to keep talking .

Ariana broke out into a sweat, her mouth had gone dry and her heart roared against her chest . She struggled to get the words out of mouth and Mrs . Dabney just gave a her a small smile . "You know in my previous life I had a family . " She announced softly . Ariana pursed her lips, her eyes had gone wide and she silently waited for Mrs . Dabney to continue . "I was an awful mother and wife . . . I let my family down especially when my one and only son died of SIDS . He didn't live past 4 months . I never heard his voice, only his cries . " Mrs . Dabney said as her breathing started to turn erratic . Mr . Dabney walked over and took Brie from his wife's arms . Brie was already feed and needed to be burped so he sat on the bed and awkwardly burped her as she laid over his shoulder .

"He was colic, I did everything everyone suggested, gripe water, infant ma.s.sage, dark rooms, swaddles, warm baths, literally everything and at 3 months I had enough . I gave up my maternity leave and made my husband take a parental leave from his job so I could go back to work . I was barely home . I have no idea how they lived for 4 weeks, next thing you know my husband calls me in a panic . Our son was cold to the touch . He wasn't breathing and lost the colour from his face . He pa.s.sed away in his sleep . I don't even think my husband thought anything was wrong, he was probably relieved that the crying stopped . . . . But I didn't go back home . " Mrs . Dabney continued as her body started to slightly shake . Mr . Dabney sat quietly next to his wife, unable to comfort her .

"I destroyed everything in my lab and cried for two days straight . I ignored phone calls, text messages, emails, everything then I barricaded the main doors and walked over to a cabinet full of hazardous materials . They were locked away but I had keys . . . . I had everything I needed to end my life but in the end I couldn't kill myself . I wanted too, I wanted to do it so bad but I wasn't brave enough . I wanted to die to be with my son but at the same time I was selfish enough to want to live . When my colleagues broke down the door I was slumped on the floor, holding a vial in each hand, I didn't do anything with them I just cried . After we buried my son, I became obsessed with my work . I never went home . Then I got served divorce papers . " Mrs . Dabney said with a sarcastic laugh . She was not looking too good . Her face became dark and she couldn't stop trembling .
