The New Era Project 8 The Loli In Feng Ye's Mind

The next morning arrives quickly. Feng Ye wakes up extra early and notices Akimichi's snoring in the room next door. Quickly, Feng Ye recalls the system status panel.

He inquires the system, "What features are unlocked and fully accessible now?"

System: About time you have inquired. Startled? I am awake. Haha! What were you doing in that unstable s.p.a.ce? You consumed 50% of my energy to transport out of that piece of nihility and darkness.

Feng Ye is startled. "Are you the system? You are a loli?" In his mind, a loli is seen with an angry cute expression. Her cheeks puffed up and hands on her waist. Feng Ye forgot which anime character this loli seemed to resemble.

System: I am the main consciousness. The systematic voice you had heard before was only the program that I had set before I had fallen into deep sleep to allow partial functionality of my strength. I am just a consciousness that had bound my destiny to yours. I can be any form in your mind. I found this form in your memory and found it suitable. Or would you prefer this one?

The loli in Feng Ye's mind suddenly becomes a hairy ball of slime with tentacles flailing about causing him to puke in his mouth a little bit. After recovering from the shocking disgusting image found in his mind, he yells inwardly. "No no no, please just stay the loli! Wtf. !#$%!"

The disgusting slime changes into the cute loli once again. The loli shows a contemptuous look in his mind and snorts.

"So, do you have a name? Where are you from?" Feng Ye inquires.

System: You can refer to me as the system. As a wandering piece of consciousness, I have no name. My origin? I wander through the universe in search of a host. Then, we take root in the host's mind and can experience the life and perspective of the host. As a piece of consciousness, life cannot be experienced. Life becomes as bland as the dark piece of nihility you were in. No past, no present, no future. Essentially, a timeless experience. Naturally, you as the host get benefits as well. You can utilize parts of my power gaining abilities and attributes. Basically, in exchange for being able to experience life through your perspective, you can utilize some of our energy.

"Interesting. Then, what is this store feature and settings?"

System: The settings is just how you want the display screens to look in your mind. You can adjust the brightness, size of text, etc. In the shop, however, you can exchange for consumables or directly convert into skill points or ability points.

These consumables require energy points [EP] which is the shop's currency. You probably also noticed that you have ability points and skill points. In the shop, you are also able to exchange for such points with the shop's conversion rate.

"How would I go about getting energy points?"

System: When you defeat or kill another organism, their energy is absorbed by the system. Killing the organism will allow me to absorb such energy. This energy is converted to energy points. Defeating an organism only provides 50% of the points that would have been gained from killing it. The more powerful the organism is, the larger amount of energy it contributes. For example, if you defeat a weak pitiful teenager, you would gain only one energy point. If you defeat an esper, the points obtained scale dependent on the their ability.

"I understand. What happens if I repeatedly defeat the same person?"

System: The points decrease 50% every time you defeat the same individual as the energy taken from before would affect that individual's growth, future potential, and ability development. Essentially, if you defeat an average person, you decrease their likelihood to "awaken".

Feng Ye nods. He inquires the system in his mind to display the shop.

"Do I get a celebratory gift parcel due to your awakening?" Feng Ye inquires to the pouting loli in his mind.

System: Ha, you wish.

Akimichi awakens from his slumber as Feng Ye makes breakfast.

"Up so early today, Feng-kun? I had some late work to do last night that required me to come back late."

"I see. Don't stress out too much. Here, have some pancakes." Feng Ye comments. After breakfast, Akimichi disappears and heads to the main campus.

After Akimichi leaves, Feng Ye decides to take a look at the news and browses on his tablet. He finds articles and reports of the event Haruta described the previous day. News stories about the accident is shown. A collision that seems to have occurred with no injuries, and no one responsible. Investigations are still ongoing to determine how the vehicle was able to operate. The vehicle contained $50,000 USD worth of illegal drugs. The drug discovered was Synapt. Synapt is a drug which users use to indulge in the past. The drug essentially interferes with the reuptake of neurotransmitters in the synapse. Thus, allowing the user to feel relaxed and be able to reminisce about the happy moments of their past. It seems as though during the accident the security cameras had lost its signal.

Feeling this news as odd, Feng Ye gets ready to commute to Kami Inst.i.tute.

The school day pa.s.ses quickly. Feng Ye, Wu Ya, Chu Feng, Haruta, Yotsuba, and Akihiko quickly leave the cla.s.s.

The group exits the school building along with the rest of the students. In an open plaza area that seems to contain the Kami Inst.i.tute's gardens, many students gather in groups recruiting first years to join their clubs. This plaza is well known as the recruiting grounds.

Second year students are in groups actively recruiting with slogans and attracting freshmen to their booths.

"Hey Feng-kun, are you planning to join any groups?" Haruta nearby asks.

"I am not currently interested. How about you?" Feng Ye replies.

"I'll go check some out." As Haruta is about to go check out a nearby swim club, suddenly a group of second year students supposedly from a kendo school club approach Feng Ye and the group.

A tall rogue looking student approaches while holding a picture of with Feng Ye's face on it. He is followed by a group of uniformly dressed students who all also seem to be in the kendo club. A male student behind the tall rogue looking student says to the rogue looking individual, "Simsan, that's Feng Ye."

Feng Ye's face twitches as he sees his face on the poster. "Are you kidding me?"

Yotsuba nearby sighs and knits his eyebrows, "Already, so troublesome. Demonstration of authority?"

"Hey, you are Feng Ye? You don't seem like much. Rank 1...Haha, don't be c.o.c.ky." The tall rogue looking student by the name of Sima sneers.

"Yes, I am. Who are you, and what's your purpose?" Feng Ye calmly replies.

"I really can't stand newbies like you on our campus. Show some respect to your uppercla.s.smen. It seems like without showing you your place, you won't understand." As the words fall, Sima throws out a punch towards Feng Ye…

Feng Ye's brows wrinkle as he snorts. "Troublesome." With a sidestep, Sima's attack hits the empty s.p.a.ce and misses its target.

Surprised, Sima recovers his fist and tries again. This time Feng Ye decides to see if he could get any energy points as it would be stupid to not grasp the opportunity in front of him.

With his fist containing 20 STR skill points, Feng Ye strikes towards Sima's fist.

BANG! Instantaneously, you can hear a pitiful yell which is followed by Sima flying backwards in a perfect parabola and landing in the nearby garden.

System: Hey, congrats on your first win. You have gained 1 EP. It's not much, but better than nothing. Also, sorry, I don't provide bonuses. I need the energy. つ ◕_◕ ༽つ

"Mediocre." Feng Ye states as he turns around and leaves the area. The rest of the group follows him. Haruta mutters, "Unexpectedly, he is so fierce."

The surrounding students show astonished expressions at Feng Ye. Some stare with their mouths gaping open large enough to fit an egg.

Gu-lu~

A student in the surroundings swallow and it can be heard by all. However, no one ridiculed this student as what was just witnessed seemed impossible.

"How does Feng Ye have so much strength? Is he a monster?"

"Wow. Sima will probably have to stay in the nurse's office for quite some time."

"Is this the true strength of rank 1? Esper?"

"I think I'm falling for Feng-kun.."

"Is this person really in our year.. ? Terrifying.."

Quickly, word travels around the school and soon the entire campus knows what had occurred today. It had also peaked the interest of some strange fellows.

A long purple haired girl sits in a clubroom of the chess club and obtains the news.

"Ara~ Interesting new fellow. It seems like the Kami Inst.i.tute will be lively." She laughs. A strange atmosphere then envelops the students in clubroom. At this time, the purple haired girl's rook s.h.i.+fts positions on the board without any physical movement.

"Check. Your turn." She says to her fellow chess club member.

"Yes, kaichou." The member replies and begins thinking of his next move.

The other members of the chess club all seem to be used to the supernatural occurrence and are unfazed.

Meanwhile, a blond haired muscular guy lifting weights also obtains the news.

"A single punch cleans up Sima? Meh." If one is observant, he is also wearing the kendo club uniform.

While the news continues to pa.s.s along, Feng Ye had already arrived in his suite.
