"Uhmm... ah.... I'll be having what you'll be having..." Sisley chimed in shyly as she didn't know anything from the lists of dishes written on the menu. It was like she was reading some ancient language long since forgotten. Just looking at the price of that one simple dish was already equivalent to her one-month allowance.

But she remained tight lip for the reason that she didn't want to ruin the mood, complaining about the price already from just their first date.

She darted her eyes left and right and fumbled her fingers on top of her lap, trying to hide her embarra.s.sment and agitation.

Daniel found the whole thing cute and funny. He immediately ordered all the expensive dishes on the menu.

When the waiter left, the silence between the two became awkward.

It was not like this. Daniel and Sisley would always have something to talk about.

However, something was different on this day.

Sisley could feel that this day was special. There was something in the air that surrounded them. It was tense, she could almost touch it, and she was having difficulty breathing while her stomach felt that tiny creatures were running all around causing her to broke in cold sweat.

She extended her hand and took a sip of her tea then gulped everything down without even having to savor the taste since all her nerves were restless.

She put the cup down and just as she was about to retract her fingers, Daniel cupped it with his hand that Sisley's eyes instantly gazed at the handsome man. Intense ocean blue orbs met submissive hazelnut ones.

Daniel gulped the nervousness he felt as he licked his dry lips, causing the already blus.h.i.+ng girl to reddened more when various naughty thoughts crossed her mind.

"Sisley.... there's something…. I want to tell you..."

"Yes...?" Sisley urged when Daniel didn't continue as he just stared at her.

"It's.... I'm... I.... "

Sisley was now experiencing a heart attack and her tiny fingers turned frigid and cold.

The antic.i.p.ation was killing her!

"I li--!"

Daniel didn't finish his sentence when his eyes caught something.

Automatically, his brows knitted together.

Sisley felt disappointed when Daniel's eyes darted behind her, forgetting the words she so longed to hear for so many years.

She glanced to where Daniel's eyes were, and automatically, anger bubbled inside her.

Evangeline together with Asher Cole walked inside the restaurant, utterly oblivious to their surroundings. Like always, people would take notice of her, especially that she had a das.h.i.+ngly handsome man by her side.

Unlike Sisley who wore a simple dress, Evangeline wore a body-hugging black maxi dress and six inches killer black stilettoes that matched breathtakingly well against her white porcelain skin paired with that 'to die for' designer bag. Her long curly lavender hair was set loose, ornamented by an intricately carved silver headband, adorned with tiny diamonds that glittered like stars. As usual, her stunning face was lavished with perfectly contoured makeup, making her the sun of the day.

She looked absolutely gorgeous!

While her splendor didn't overshadow her knight and s.h.i.+ning armor. Asher wore a fitted black s.h.i.+rt highlighting that muscular physique while teasingly covering it with a bad boy leather jacket paired with arousing skinny jeans and leather boots. So manly and overflowing with male pheromones!

Whenever Asher winked at the females who were deliciously eyeing him, those women would fan themselves as if in heat.

Even she didn't admit to it, Sisley felt extremely jealous. Not because Evangeline always got the crowds attention, she was used to that already, it was because Daniel's eyes still shone at the sight of the alluring G.o.ddess.

Even though Daniel knew that he likes Sisley now more than Evangeline, but of course, he still admired Evangeline's beauty and grace like any other men.

Then something like jealousy, rage, anger boiled inside him when he laid eyes on the man beside the alluring woman. Daniel didn't like that feeling. He dismissed it almost instantly.

Meanwhile, Asher pulled a chair for Evangeline to sit before he sat opposite her.

Asher was speaking to Evangeline when Evangeline's eyes caught someone familiar. She smiled sweetly and waved her fingers with perfectly polished nails at Sisley and Daniel.

Asher too turned and glanced towards Sisley and Daniel's table. His eyebrow rose while the corner of his lips floated upward forming a smirk. His dark onyx eyes met that of Daniel's blue ones.

Instantly, the atmosphere tensed up and sparks ignited between the two men. Unspoken challenge, manly pride, and egos battled in the air.

Evangeline rolled her eyes and didn't mind the egotistical men anymore as she focused her attention on the menu, ignoring everyone.

"I'm sorry my Queen. I didn't know that this restaurant turned so low as to accommodate commoners." Asher sneered and glanced at Daniel once more.

Evangeline softly laughed.

"Don't mind. What is a Queen without her commoner's subjects to adore her?"

Asher laughed and ran his fingers through his hair as he dotingly stared at the woman with so much devotion.

He raised his hand when he and Evangeline were ready to order.

Evangeline closed the menu and looked at the scenery outside the curtain wall with indifference in her eyes.

"Are you ready to order, sir?"

Evangeline's pretty head snapped at that clear deep voice. Instantly, her gla.s.sy purple eyes met with silver ones hidden beneath that thick-rimmed lenses and messy dark hair.

"Eric."

Evangeline didn't know that her soft voice turned high pitch and that she was already smiling from ear to ear with a flash of delighted glint in her eyes. The glimmer was fast – so fast.

But still, it didn't escape Asher's scrutinizing gaze.

"Fancy meeting you here. Do you always work in every restaurant that I ate?" Evangeline amusedly said while she held her chin, looking all haughtily at the emotionless face of the nerdy man.

Eric politely smiled and then brought out his notepad and pen, signaling that he was ready to take their order.

Evangeline's long lashes fluttered as she straightened herself on the couch before she spoke with poise and grace and accent, dismissing Eric's brus.h.i.+ng her off – yet again.

"If that is all, I'll repeat your orders." Eric's long thick lashes came in full view that couldn't be hidden by his gla.s.ses when his eyes lowered towards his notepad as he spoke the foreign words in clarity with impeccable articulation.

Evangeline's eyes shone once more in amus.e.m.e.nt. This was the first time that someone held their own against her. Could look her in the eyes and stood in front of her without stuttering and cowering from her imposing aura.

"If that is all, please excuse me." Eric slightly bowed while Asher dismissed him impatiently.

"Wait."

Before Evangeline could stop herself, her feelings voiced out from her mouth which made Asher glanced at her in disbelief.

"Yes?" Eric turned towards the intimidating woman without any expression on his face, yet no one knew the glinting mystery hidden beneath his eyes.

He looked at her like she was just any other customer.

"You haven't replied to my e-mail."

Again, Evangeline didn't know why those words came out instead of something like 'you have done well in drafting my reaction paper for me. Therefore, I shall reward you. Name your price'.

"Sorry. I don't have a computer and phone with me at that time. If you're thinking about paying for my service, you can hand the money during the start of the cla.s.s next week." Then he slightly bowed once more and left.

It was a moment that Eric had disappeared, yet Evangeline continued to stare at the man's tracks without any sentiment on her lovely face.

"Do you like him?"

Asher's angry, discontented voice snapped Evangeline out of her thoughts, then she tilted her head and held her chin while smiling innocently.

"Yes. I like him to be my servant at school." Evangeline answered honestly, then she started to play with her teacup, signaling the end of discussion.

Asher continued to observed Evangeline with possessives in his dark onyx eyes.

Evangeline may not notice it, but Asher did.

That quick tiny glint in her eyes and that smile were very different from the way she smiled at him nor from the way she smiled at her 'servants' nor her pets nor anyone else.

I have to end it before it goes out of control!

Evangeline continued to be lost in her thoughts on how she could make Eric submit to her. To do her every bidding at school that she didn't notice the murderous intent on Asher's eyes.
