Everyone in the streets in this urban district was staring at what was going on. It was a rather bizarre sight to say the least.
A person, seemingly a knight, wearing an armor covered in so much dust and dirt that it seemed that he went swimming in a swamp, he ended up pouncing on Runfar out in the open street, while everyone inside the city was watching.
He grabbed Runfar by the collar.
"Uhm, can I help you?" Runfar asked in confusion, he never met anyone who was covered in mud, dust, and rust to this degree, the armor the knight was wearing must have once been s.h.i.+ny, but now, it was rusted and covered in so much dirt that only the outline of armor was recognizable.
He must have been through quiet an ordeal to make his armor damaged and unrecognizable to this degree.
"That red eye…there is no mistaking it! You will not escape me again; I swear upon my name that I shall not rest until your corpse is rotting underneath a grave. I will…ah!!!"
The knight ended up pa.s.sing out, falling on Runfar's shoulder.
Are you kidding me? Just when I had a time to relax, this guy shows up.
Landon went to buy everything Mira requested him, leaving Runfar some time to walk around the city, with none suspecting that this half masked man with red eye was one who would bring calamity upon them all.
But, out of nowhere, a knight in rusty armor showed up, and as soon as he saw Runfar, he said 'Found you…' and proceeded to grab him.
Now, with the unconscious dirt knight hanging limply on his body, Runfar noticed that knight's back was bleeding, that must have been what caused him to pa.s.s out, the blood loss, he had to be treated immediately.
The blood was seeping through his clothing, making it obvious that his injury was very serious.
He could leave him to die, but doing so right now would generate suspicion and if people who saw this happen report the incident, then his name would be tarnished.
Another problem with being a n.o.bleman, he had a reputation to maintain. Leaving a knight to die would no doubt make him look like a fiend.
Entry to my nonexistent diary,
It seems like no matter where I go, I keep meeting weirdoes…
Why can I not have a normal day on my me time?
* * *
Well, I had weirder days.
Runfar managed to drag the unconscious knight's body to the inn he was staying in with Landon, it would be some time before Landon comes back, giving Runfar plenty of time to take care of the matters with this weird knight.
He could have left him out in the streets to die, but that would have been detrimental to the image he was trying to build, so for the sake of not blowing his cover, he decided to at least heal the knight to the point he could walk and just send him back to place he came from.
That seemed like a sound plan.
But first, this rusty armor covered in mud, he had to remove it in order to see the extent of the injuries.
It was not easy, the amount of dirt and rust on the armor made it nearly impossible to find the seams that held the armor together, but Runfar somehow managed to take the armor off of the knight's body, piece by piece.
With the pieces of the armor in the ground, Runfar found himself facing a knight with long blonde hair, wearing plain s.h.i.+rt and pants, from the smell of sweat it was obvious this knight was in that armor for quite some time.
The biggest concern was knight's bleeding back; the armor that covered his back had a huge slash across it, almost like someone succeeded in injuring him from behind. Knight's armor must have been white before, as Runfar found out after scrubbing off some dirt from a small portion of the armor.
Armor was not exactly made for defending the entire body, it was only made to cover specific parts of the body, like shoulders and arms, most likely in order to make it lighter, but the armor on the back was not very strong, almost like the user was never concerned with someone striking him from behind. The armor itself was optimized for speed not durability.
Knight's back was still bleeding, so Runfar proceeded to take off his s.h.i.+rt, only to discover that his chest area was bound by many layers of saras.h.i.+, the injury on knight's back was very serious, but it seems layers of saras.h.i.+ had managed to stop the bleeding even if just a little.
Without hesitation, Runfar took off the Saras.h.i.+ and examined knight's back, while completely ignoring the front of knight's body.
He also took off rest of knight's clothing, apparently he had an injury on his left leg, on the back of his knee, it was not healed, but it was in far better condition that his back.
The slash on his back was undeniably serious; he needed to be treated right away.
Using some of the medical supplies, Runfar proceeded to treat knight's back, making sure to cauterize the back with fire magic.
It was a slow process, he did not have enough mana to use mana transfer and healing the knight with Morphus's ability would generate suspicion, so the old fas.h.i.+oned way had to do.
Still, he had Morphus heal the wound just enough so that it wouldn't reopen again, there still would be a scar, but it was a better option than letting Morphus heal it to the point of no mark remaining.
If the injury was completely healed, then Runfar would attract unwanted attention to himself, which was the last thing he wanted right now.
Master, something is not right.
"You tell me."
This situation was weird enough as it is.
No, what I mean is, look closely at his back.
Runfar did just that.
Taking control of Runfar's right hand, Morphus tapped knight's back slightly, now on his back; a large mark resembling a sun appeared.
The mark covered most of his back.
Mark of the sun had many rays coming from it, but the curious thing was that the injury on his back had seemingly damaged the marking of the sun, making the mark have an unnatural slash mark upon it.
"What did you do?"
I cancelled the concealment spell on his back. I felt as something was suspicious, but it was worse than I feared. At first I thought it was just another person with blessing, but to think…
"What?"
This person was blessed by Deity of Light, King of G.o.ds, Solaris himself!
"You don't mean…"
A knight blessed by the highest ranked G.o.d, an extremely dangerous demi-G.o.d. That mark on knight's back, it is a blessing he received from Solaris.
"Uh oh."
Runfar muttered.
He met Solaris once, but back then he was a rather agreeable and kind fellow, maybe this knight is same way…
His hopes were dashed when the knight started to regain consciousness.
Well, if the demi-G.o.d is anything like his G.o.d, then he might be not such a bad person.
"Uhhh…Where …am I? What?" knight sat up, now the blanket Runfar put on him ended up sliding off.
That was not a man's chest. Nay, Runfar was sure that those small round appendages belonged on a female body. He ignored it before, but now it was obvious.
"So, she is a woman, huh."
You just noticed?
"To be fair, I was too focused on the back to pay attention to the front."
"Uhm, excuse me, but do you mind me asking, why am I naked?" the lady knight asked.
Wow, she did not immediately jump into conclusions and try to attack me; maybe she is a reasonable type.
"The injury on your back had to be treated, it was necessary to take off your clothes; otherwise, you would have bled to death." Runfar paused a little and asked. "You pa.s.sed out on the street; I had to bring you here to treat you. Do you remember anything?"
"Yes, a little bit, I was searching for a certain man…and then I saw a person wearing half mask with red eye…."
She now looked up at Runfar and saw that he matched her description, her expression froze.
"If you don't wish to die, take off that mask."
What is she playing at? Why should I?
Master, she is more powerful than anyone I have ever met, in terms of might, she is a monster. If she attacks us right now, we will not survive.
Fine
"All right, no worries." Runfar took off his half mask, now the lady knight ended up seeing his face, causing her eyes to open wide in surprise, but then she calmed down.
"So it's not you, I got the wrong person again."
"If you don't mind me asking, who exactly are you looking for?"
"I am looking for the man who gave me the wound on my back and my leg. I encountered him in a city of Oran, which is located in a region further away from the region of Holy City, there, I confronted him on theft, but not only did he escape, but he injured me to the point that I ended up on the bed for several days!"
She continued.
"Healers couldn't completely heal the injury, but I managed to stand up and went to search for this man, no matter what, I swore I would hunt him down!"
"But after several months of fruitless search I ended up here, and when I saw you, I thought I finally found him, but it seems like it was another dead end."
"If you don't mind me asking, what does he look like?"
"I am not completely certain, he was wearing a mask of a lizard. But after he injured me, I caught a glimpse of part of his face before I pa.s.sed out. One of his eyes is red while the other is brown."
This girl….don't tell me she is….
"What is your name?" Runfar asked, hoping against all odds that he was wrong.
"Oh, how rude of me, I spoke without even introducing myself. My name is Leon, Leon Revilles, I am also known as the Knight of Light."
Runfar's face showed a peaceful smile, but on the inside, what he was feeling was anything but peaceful.
This is bad, really, really bad!!!
Does master know this woman?
Know her? After Chronos, she is the scariest person I have met ever since I ended up in this place!
Runfar remembered all those countless times he had to fight against this Knight of Light. This guy, no, girl, was no joke. If he had to estimate, he was the strongest enemy he ever encountered.
If he had a choice between fighting a Demon Lord or Knight of Light, he would choose the Demon Lord without a second thought.
Knight of Light is not a foe who could be dealt with easily, back then; he managed to defeat her purely on luck.
Runfar was sure he had killed him with the injuries he inflicted upon him, but it seems even that was not enough to keep Knight of Light down for long.
"Is something wrong? Your face looks pale." She put her hand upon Runfar's face; he was, without a doubt, trembling from fright as her hand touched him.
One wrong move meant he would be killed on the spot.
"Oh, it's nothing, please don't think too much of it. But, as Knight of Light, do you mean, the strongest knight in the kingdom?"
"Is that what they call me? Well, I suppose, yes."
"Is that so…" Runfar was shuddering in fear, the awkward atmosphere of a naked woman covered only by a blanket touching his face aside, he was talking to the person who gave him so many deaths that simply escaping her was a miracle.
Then, someone entered the room, interrupting the awkward atmosphere.
"Young master, I have brought most of the spices for today, tomorrow I can take care of the other products…." Landon walked in in exactly the wrong moment.
What he saw was his master talking to a naked blonde woman covered only by a blanket, her upper body visible, while her left hand was upon Runfar's face, their faces close enough for a kiss.
"Please excuse me."
Landon ended up saying before he ended up running out of the room.
We were in this urban district for less than a day, and he already found a woman to bed? What is wrong with him…I mean, that was fast!!!
"I may have created a misunderstanding, my apologies."
"No need to, I had a feeling something like this might happen."
But, Runfar was secretly thankful to Landon for coming in just at the right moment, any second longer; Runfar felt that he was going to have a heart attack.
