With a battle cry, Nasia Velcron proceeded to charge.
Her long light blue hair accentuated by her yellow eyes made her very easy to recognize.
Within the Sacred Kingdom, she was one of the few who reached the level of a hero, a living legend.
There was no way she was going to lose to some vagabond.
'He wields a wooden sword, so my blade should be able to cut it into pieces'
But as their blades struck each other, the wooden sword showed no sign of being dented.
'What is going on? Could it be reinforcement magic? Is he a magic swordsman as well? In that case…'
She proceeded to activate her magic.
Countless spheres of water emerged into the air, each morphing into projectiles.
With a wave of her hand the projectiles launched in the direction of her enemy.
But instead of being skewered, he proceeded to deflect them by slas.h.i.+ng through them.
'Then how about this!'
She charged her mana and shot it through her sword in a mighty blast.
If used upon a boulder, this technique would leave a large hole within the rock before hitting whatever was behind the boulder.
It was an immensely powerful technique that did maximum amount of damage.
And she could shoot it multiple times.
"Your fate is to die by my blade!"
Her enemy somehow managed to dodge her first blast on time, but the second blast was too close to avoid.
Nasia heard the sound of an impact, but to her horror, the man stood strong, with his sword still in one piece.
"In that case, just call me the Fateless Blade!"
'That technique should have blasted a hole through his body, not to mention break that d.a.m.n wooden sword of his in half. Even if he coated his sword in magic, the blast should have done some damage'
She still thought that her enemy was using mana instead of chi to counter her.
The truth was that due to the ease of its usage, usage of mana became much more common, while most thought of usage of chi as obsolete skill.
Due to this, the usage of chi fell out of practice, and over the years, the skill was forgotten by many.
By now, there are practically none within the Sacred Kingdom who specialized in usage of chi, preferring to use easier to use mana instead.
As such, the art of chi became a lost skill due to people's own ignorance.
It was no wonder why Nasia could not fathom how her enemy could defend against what was seemingly impossible to deflect.
Chi, unlike mana, was generated by one's willpower, but channeling it puts a ma.s.sive strain on one's body.
Like mana, it could deliver ma.s.sive amount of damage, but doubly so in chi's case, because it could strike away anything in its way, even magic.
If an equal level mana user and chi user were to battle, the fight would end in a stalemate and both users would be depleted of strength.
But the usage of chi had its own advantages.
Unlike mana, mana shackles had no effect on chi, so there was no real way of binding chi usage.
And unlike mana that could be drained, there was virtually no way to absorb chi, it could only be deflected.
Like mana, chi also has different types, which anyone, with enough training, could master.
If one trained extensively in the usage of chi, then one could potentially become stronger than one's wildest dreams.
That was one reason why the Sword Lord, the man who mastered the art of chi, was a superior swordsman compared to the Holy Swords, each of whom was a hero level fighter.
"My turn"
Bakit proceeded to charge at Nasia who until now was on the full offensive.
She formed a s.h.i.+eld of water to protect her body from Bakit's attack.
The s.h.i.+eld she formed with her magic was no ordinary defense; she cast a special spell so that any magic that it contacts would be absorbed into the s.h.i.+eld, enhancing its power.
Simply put, it would drain the mana upon contact, nullifying the power of the attacker's magic.
Much to her horror, his wooden sword ended up cutting right through her magic s.h.i.+eld, dispelling it in the process.
'What kind of magic is this?!'
She found herself thinking.
Ordinary magic should have been dispelled after making contact with her s.h.i.+eld.
What the h.e.l.l was he?
Then, he struck from above, forcing her to defend herself with her sword.
Now that there was no longer any large distance between them, she had to rely on her close-combat skills.
Coating her sword in her mana, she parried Bakit blow to blow.
'He is wielding his sword only with his left hand. Is he mocking me?'
No matter how many times she tried to strike him, he would dodge and counter attack. For a man who relied only on his left hand, he was deceptively strong.
Seeing two swordsmen fight each other, the Princess could only watch the scene in fright, she tried her hardest to stay out of sight, but she knew that her purple hair would be too easy to spot and she could not bring herself to leave Nasia.
Princess desperately prayed to Noiluna, the G.o.ddess of non-humans, for her champion, Nasia, to emerge victorious.
Nasia was one of the heroes of Sacred Kingdom, the wielder of the Wrath, one of the Seven.
She was also Princess's childhood friend.
But now, Princess could only helplessly watch Nasia battling a madman who was here to slay them.
Much to her embarra.s.sment, she found the bottom of her dress soaked wet from fright.
He fought like a beast, his swordsmans.h.i.+p and his footwork was completely unpredictable.
It was almost as if he had thrown away any sense of reason.
Grinning with his mouth in a wide open smile, it was obvious he was enjoying the thrill of the duel.
There was not a trace of fear upon his face.
It was almost as if he was flat out drunk. And the way he laughed while fighting only made him seem even madder.
Nasia fought him relentlessly, blow to blow, but neither one seemed to be able to deliver a decisive strike.
As their swords were pus.h.i.+ng against each other, he proceeded to kick Nasia's leg.
Nasia heard a bone snap.
With a painful yelp she found herself on the ground, clutching her broken left leg.
Bakit's usage of chi was not limited to channeling it through his sword.
Due to Sword Lord's training, he now knew how to channel it through his entire body, allowing him to deal extensive damage with simple movements.
Not waiting for Nasia to regain her senses, Bakit proceeded to knock away her sword and with a single swing of his wooden sword, he struck her hard enough to knock her away.
Due to the strength of his strike, she ended up losing consciousness and collapsing like a sack of potatoes.
Seeing that her knight had been defeated, Princess immediately rushed to her side. Eye full of tears, she was desperately trying to wake Nasia up.
"Uhm, what a curious sword"
Bakit picked up the sword that woman had been using.
It was a rather peculiar sword.
The blade itself was fine and sharp, but it also had sharp, saw-like protrusions along the blade and guard; making it look even more deadly.
Apparently, not only would it cut the enemy, but it would also make the process rather painful.
Sword itself was double edged, and much lighter than expected. With the handle made out of mixture of carved wood and metal, it was rather pleasant to the touch.
The blade itself was crimson red and clear color along the edges. The design on the metal was that of a flame travelling across the blade.
"I like it. I guess I will be keeping it"
Seeing that Bakit took the Sword of Wrath, Princess proceeded to scream at him.
"Give back the Sword, you monster!"
Sword of Wrath, one of the Seven, it was a national treasure of Sacred Kingdom. She couldn't let someone steal it.
"I hate loud noises"
With an simple movement, he proceeded to bonk the princess on the head with the hilt of the sword, knocking her out instantly.
"I guess I will be on my way"
The female knight and the Princess could not know that Bakit was hallucinating and saw them as monsters that emerged out of the belly of a dragon (the carriage).
In his mind, he just defeated a couple of big monsters and that was enough for him.
After abandoning the unconscious princess and female knight to their fates, Bakit proceeded to walk even further.
While he walked, he heard a voice within his head.
"Greetings, my new wielder. I am known as the Sword of Wrath, one of the Seven."
Bakit proceeded to ignore that voice.
"My my, it seems like you are not a demi-human, and not completely a human either. I can sense blood of demon within you, just waiting to be awakened, and I can help you on that matter. I just need to remove the seal on your forehead…"
Suddenly, Bakit felt an agonizing pain within his skull.
It lasted only for a few seconds, but to Bakit, it might as well have been hours.
By the end of it, a single horn sprouted from Bakit's forehead, and his right eye opened, glowing with eerie white light.
"That's more like it!" the sword exclaimed in delight.
But Bakit was no longer even listening.
During the duel with that woman, he over-used his chi, exhausting his body and mind.
Now, his body was shutting down, in need of rest.
With his drunken mind still making his vision spin around endlessly, Bakit ended up drifting away into a deep slumber.
