He froze. Only his eyes are blinking repeatedly. His brain can't comprehend Kahina's action. His tongue tied and his voice stuck on the throat. Touma's mouth gasped like fish desperate for air.

The flowery drama kind of scene a moment ago turns to stare compet.i.tion between them. Kahina mischievous smile appeared and Touma still froze. Kahina expected this reaction and Touma's brain has been haywire and he completely no idea how to react.

Touma retracted his hands gently then he caressed Kahina's head and gave her a warm smile. Touma can hear determination and sincerity from her but his heart feels really heavy. He can't explain the feeling he felt for Kahina. He is comfortable being with her. He felt he can be himself and didn't have to worry about his image and status at all but he knows his future wasn't a fairy tale. To give her the love of the fairy tale she deserves, he was not the right man. He knows, even with the current relations.h.i.+p he had with her, they were putting everyone in their world on alert.

"Please... Please... I know what you are going to say next but please Touma, do not say it!" As soon as she let go his lips she started to plead with watery eyes and blush on her cheeks. She was so tempting and beautiful.

"I promise I will never be a burden. I promise no one will hurt us. No one will harm our family. So, please Touma let me be with you."

"Kahina, you know I care about you but you didn't know how scared I am when I saw you on the hospital bed last time."

He doesn't want it to happen again. He won't allow it.

Kahina understands his thought. She knows Touma is a soft-hearted person deep inside but hardens his heart so he could protect himself from heartache. Kahina knows every move she made before was a success and Touma values her a lot. It was nothing to do with the contract he made with Takio neither the promised she made to him. Touma indeed care.
