The spiritualist was a unique cla.s.s, in every way . Not only was it a secret cla.s.s that had be unlocked through specific means . But the more James read through its skill tree, the more he realized just how special it was .

Along with that, James was learning just how awesome this new cla.s.s was going to prove, not only for him and Rue, but also his adventurers, as they fought against BLANKs forces . The main reason for this, was that spiritualists had a very unique way of healing . It wasn't like the cleric, wave the hand, chant a spell, and someone is instantly healed trick . Instead, the spiritualist seemed to use summoned bonds to essentially extend a person's health pool, by linking them to the summoned spirit .

Of course, Rue had mentioned to him those aspects of it, but in Rue's typical way . Meaning she hadn't really provided him with the full details of the situation . Furthermore, and this was just James speculating, he had a feeling Rue had a terrible habit of not actually reading all of the words with regards to the things she learned . As she seemed to skim and skip over a lot of important details .

The first, being, that the spiritualist, even on the skill tree, had no way to directly heal a player . The second being that the spiritualist would lose control of the mob it summoned, once it had linked it to another player . From what James could tell though, even when it was linked, and he didn't have control over it, the mob would still count against his summoning total . Both of those, were rather important points in his book . As it was going to require him to develop new strategies for his plans . Especially if he was going to utilize this new cla.s.s to its fullest potential .

On the plus side, as James scanned the skill list for both summoner, and spiritualist, he saw that his choice on what to select with his remaining two skill points was going to be easy . First, he unlocked the Enhanced Summon option from the summoner cla.s.s .

Enhanced Summon: The Summoner has learned to better harness their powers and bring forth greater variants of the creatures they summon . Mobs summoned using Enhanced summon are called forth at twice their normal summon level, while costing the summoner only one and a half as many points to summon . (I . E . A lvl 1 mob will summon at level 2 and cost the summoner 1 . 5 points to summon) .

As a summoner, this skill was just too good to pa.s.s up . With Ma.s.s summon, James was able to summon mobs for a total of mob points equal to his maximum level . Currently, at level 5 Avatar Research, James's Avatar was level 25 . That meant if he really wanted to, he could summon a total of 25 d.i.c.kens, normally, as those would cost him 1 point per d.i.c.ken, as they summoned at level 1 . With his enhanced summon, he could now summon almost 17 of the d.i.c.kens, but each of them would be level 2 . And, because his avatar summons had the multiplication added to their stats, for being avatar summons, those level 2 d.i.c.kens were going to pack a punch .

Just to check, James closed his eyes, mentally choosing what he wanted to summon . He could have done it on the screen, but he figured he needed to learn how to do this in the quickest method possible . What he had learned so far, being a dungeon core, was that he could actually mentally impact effect the game and send his commands . It was just easier, and felt more natural, to physically interact with the environment .

After a brief moment, he managed to clear his mind to the point of sending the command he wanted . He opened his eyes, and pointed with his glowing arm, its runes circling all the way up his left arm, to an empty spot in the training area . A moment later, a single glowing form appeared, clucking as it did so, in typical d.i.c.ken fas.h.i.+on .

d.i.c.ken Lvl 2 Summon

Type: Demonic Poultry

HP: 150

MP:100

Atk: 20

Def: 10

Unique Traits

Birds of a Feather: d.i.c.kens double all stats when in groups of 5 .

Flock together: If d.i.c.kens are repeatedly struck by nonlethal damage, the offender will pull the aggro of all d.i.c.kens within a 10 x lvl yard radius .

Active Buff

*Avatar Summon* - All stats increased to reflect Avatar Level Threats (Base stats x (5+Research Level)

"And, now if I do this…" James was happy with the stats, really, he was . Especially based on how his spiritualist cla.s.s worked . But he just wanted to double check, for planning sake, what would happen with his next trick . The runes on his left arm glowed again, and four more d.i.c.kens appeared . Instantly, the stats on the d.i.c.ken he was investigating changed .

d.i.c.ken Lvl 2 Summon

Type: Demonic Poultry

HP: 300* (150+150)

MP:200* (100+100)

Atk: 40* (20+20)

Def: 20* (10+10)

Unique Traits

Birds of a Feather: d.i.c.kens double all stats when in groups of 5 .

Flock together: If d.i.c.kens are repeatedly struck by nonlethal damage, the offender will pull the aggro of all d.i.c.kens within a 10 x lvl yard radius .

Active Buff

*Avatar Summon* - All stats increased to reflect Avatar Level Threats (Base stats x (5+Research Level)

Just as he figured, the d.i.c.kens, once again, were showing that a low-level mob, especially one that buffed itself in groups, could become ridiculous in the right situations . James wasn't saying he was going to abuse this mob . But he wasn't also planning not to . Grinning, he motioned in front of himself, pulling up his menu screen once again .

From there, he went to his skill tree, and instead of selecting an additional skill from the summoner cla.s.s, flipped to the spiritualist cla.s.s . There, he had a single option to choose . Doing so, would open the skill tree up, giving him three more options for later, which he had already been eying . But, the first skill was what was really calling to him, especially in this given instant .

Spiritual Fort.i.tude- While a summoned monster has greater than 50% of its maximum health, damage dealt to the adventurer the monster is bound to, is reduced by 25% .

James selected that skill immediately, applying the upgrade . He couldn't help but smile evilly as he thought about just how great that skill was going to be . With his current abilities, James knew he could summon up to 16 d.i.c.kens if he wanted to, or a variety of mobs ranging from his first floor, to his third floor . Their levels would be boosted, their stats, multiplied . This meant he could create a variable force of destruction to terrify players during the Dungeon Wars .

What his enemies didn't know though, was how to focus down the appropriate targets . In most MMOs, people, especially those who specialized in PvP, would often choose to just nuke, or deal a high amount of damage, to the player, often ignoring any summoned pet or mob . This mentality, of course, was that the player often proved to be the greater threat .

With his Spiritual Fort.i.tude skill, that meant, while they were blowing their attacks on the player, they would actually be doing less damage than intended . The other thing that he was certain no adventurer would realize, especially early on, was that because of the way the spiritualist cla.s.s worked, the damage a player took, after their defense and buffs was applied, was sent to the summoned mob . Essentially, these summoned mobs were not only damage reducers now with spiritual fort.i.tude, but they were walking extra health reserves for players .

And while James didn't have spells that would allow him to heal players, what he did have, were spells to heal his pets . He could buff their attacks, increase their defense, or heal them . In fact, he actually had multiple ways to heal them . One was a ma.s.s heal, that could heal all of his pets in a certain radius but had a long cool down . Others were heal over time spells, or single target heals .

The more James read over his skill list, and looked down at his mobs, the more he realized just how unique, and perfect for this situation, this cla.s.s was . While Rue's actions likely were slightly selfish, considering she really seemed to like that berserker cla.s.s, she had given James the perfect cla.s.s to affect the fields of battle with . She had given him a cla.s.s that not only maximized his offensive contribution to the battlefield, but essentially would allow him to keep a handful of his favorite, personally selected players, alive .

And as he had already decided, if there was anything that was going to win dungeon wars for James, it wasn't going to be his or Rue's individual skill . It was going to be the fact that his players, his adventurers, were going to blow BLANKs away . And now, if say, the Knight's Who Go Ni were all armed with their own pet d.i.c.kens, that James was constantly healing and buffing… well, he had seen what the Knights could do already . And he was extremely aware of what his d.i.c.kens could do . By their powers combined, he almost felt dirty for what BLANK's players were about to face .

"Alright, now that that's out of the way . " He dismissed his mobs, antic.i.p.ation swelling within . He was actually extremely excited for the Dungeon Wars to start, but knew he had a few more tasks to take care of . With a glance, he saw Rue was still shopping for her own cosmetic upgrade, which was all fine and dandy in his book . After all, James still needed to improve his armor . With research level 5, James now had access to not only his first floor's armor sets, but also his second and third . And while their buffs and stats were nothing compared to how armor stats actually worked for adventurers, the improvements still mattered . Well, that and James honestly didn't want to walk around on the Fields of Battle as a Demonic Farmer .
