She bought the dress on impulse. But after buying it she never wore it; it hung in the cabinet forever.

“A little makeup?” Ouyang Ning suggested.

Lin Meng shook her head; she never used those things. In recent years, most of the money earned was spent on Huai'an, there was no money left for her personal expenses. Just a cheap and cost-effective moisturizer was all she used.

“Safety first! If you need something call me.”

"Remember to pick up Huai'an," Lin Meng reminded Ouyang Ning, afraid she would forget if she got busy.

“Do not worry, I will not forget your baby boy,” Ouyang Ning a.s.sured her.

Lin Meng smiled. She had sent a text message to Gu Yubai last night, asking him to find time to meet today. He did not reply. She thought he paid her request no heed. Who would have known that this afternoon, he would call to inform her that he would be picking her up tonight.

It didn't take long for Gu Yubai to call.

“I am at the door, come out.”

When Lin Meng went out. She saw Qin Yue waiting at the gate.

“Miss Lin.” Qin Yue greeted her. Lin Meng nodded and followed him.

When she arrived at the car, Qin Yue opened the door to the back seat. When Lin Meng slid in, she saw Gu Yubai leaning back into the seat with his eyes closed. He had seen her enter, but didn't turn to look.

He seemed tired. The car had no heater, yet the temperature inside felt warmer than out in the open.

Although it was not the first time they sat so close to each other, Lin Meng felt confined and helpless. She looked out the window to relieve her tension.

Gu Yubai glanced at the girl who was pretending to look at the scenery and went back to closing his eyes again.

Her message had surprised him.

Qin Yue, who sat at the pa.s.senger's seat, glanced at Gu Yubai through the rearview mirror from time to time.

He looked worried. The sound of their combined breathing was the only sound that could be heard. After a while, Lin Meng reached out for her mobile and sent a text message to Ouyang Ning to remind her to pick up Huai'an.

This was the first time she didn't pick him up. It left her unsettled even though she had left the task to Ning.

The car stopped at the gate to Paradise. Gu Yubai opened his eyes and left the car immediately. Lin Meng followed him as Qin Yue parked.

“Gu Shao, your box?” The club manager asked as soon as they entered.

“No, just the hall.” Gu Yubai glanced back at Lin Meng as he uttered the words to the manager.

The manager's eyes widened. The hall? He looked at Gu Yubai, doubtfully. If the Boss found out about this incident, he would be fired.

Gu Yubai ignored him and walked right in, choosing a table by the window to sit down.
