It was two months before news came back from Dawn's expedition into the wild lands. It was a relief to hear that it was successful and to have the people who had gone come back in fairly good condition.

Kaldrek was relieved that no major mishaps seemed to have occurred to the party. Though Dawn's message was brief and only said that it had been successful and that no one had been drastically wounded during the mission.

She did not go into details over what had happened or why it had ended up taking so long, but it did not really matter. At least it was done and Jayesh would have one less thing to worry about.

Kaldrek watched his best friend leave to go find Fayre to a.s.sure her that those who had harmed her were dealt with. After watching till his friend had disappeared, Kaldrek left in search of his own wife.

It was not hard for him to find Zylvia. She was lying on their bed asleep. Not wis.h.i.+ng to disturb her he sat beside of her and stroked her hair instead.

She had been tired lately, her pregnancy wearing her out. Watching her squirm in her sleep, brow furrowing in discomfort as she tried to get a more comfortable position he sighed.

Kaldrek lay beside of his wife and took her into his arms, cradling the life she was growing. Their child. All over again it struck him that he was going to be a father soon. The thought was no longer as scary but left him with a sense of awe.

It was perfectly normal for him to lose track of time while holding Zylvia close to him, but before he knew it she was stirring in his arms. Feeling her stirring he quickly pressed a kiss to her forehead.

"Kaldrek?" She yawned and leaned closer to him, "What are you doing here?" Even as she asked the

question her hands wrapped around his neck. She blinked up at him, her lashes fluttering adorably.

"I came to be with my sweet wife." While he spoke, he brushed her hair away from her face. A smile lit up his face as he pulled her just a little closer to him with his other hand.

"Mmm." Zylvia s.h.i.+fted closer to him and found his lips in a gentle kiss. When she pulled back from kissing him she decked her head against his chest. "Did you need anything specific?"

He placed his chin on top of her head, enjoying their closeness. "Well, um, I thought you might like to know that the Grimshades have been dealt with."

"That's wonderful!" Her hands hugged him tightly for a second and he had a feeling that there was a bright smile on her face.

"Yeah…" He murmured. "It really is."

As she fell silent, Kaldrek pulled away from his wife and looked down at her. Zylvia eyes were closed and she had nestled into his chest . A very pleased smile hovered on her lips. Resisting the urge to kiss those lips of hers he instead kissed her on her brow.

She giggled softly and nestled closer. He looked down at her, "Oh? Are you awake, love? Here, I thought you had fallen asleep on me."

"Nah, I'm awake. I was just enjoying being in your arms…." Her voice dropped to a whisper but he could hear her clearly.

Hearing her say that brought a smile to his face. He had to admit that he rather liked it when she acted like this. Somewhat clingy and deliriously in love. And her pregnancy was enhancing her clinginess in some very cute ways.

Kaldrek was besotted with his lady and he knew it. While she had faults, and he could even name a few, most of them just endeared her to him. Made him want to protect her. Zylvia brought out the best in him. It was a fact that was undeniable. It was not just from wanting to impress her but from wanting to deserve her love.

He kissed her cheek, "Well, I enjoy holding you, my lady. More than I can even say."

She leaned back from his embrace and tilted her head back as she looked up at him. When she did not say anything he took it as an invitation and kissed her lips gently. From the way she kissed him back he figured that she had in fact wanted him to kiss her.

When they broke apart, he leaned his forehead against hers and shut his eyes, "I love you." The words came out as a whisper as he was still somewhat breathless from their kiss, "I really love you."

"I love you too," Her voice was sweet and soft as she relaxed completely in his arms. Her smile lit up his entire world and he was glad that she was a part of his life.
