Upon the highest peak of the mountain of demons, a man sat, red-eyed and young, but the power within him raged like a storm. The man was cross-legged in a small and quiet garden, rather unbecoming for this mountaintop. Yet, he sat there, iron faced none-the-less.

This man was Zhang Long.

In front of him sat An Mo, who looked somewhat dishevelled. Not in a physical way, but as if his entire psyche had been shaken. He gawked at Zhang Long with absolute dread.

How could he not be? Zhang Long was hundreds of years younger than he was, he was also his former apprentice. He'd inducted the bright-eyed boy into the Sect when he was but a small twerp! That was nine years ago.

Now Zhang Long was 21 years old, and magnitudes more powerful than his former master!

"Master, you seem unnerved, is something the matter?" Zhang Long spoke while taking a sip of tea from an ornate cup, his eyes closed, and his lips pressed together, forming a hearty smile.

"Zhang Long… when you said you were going to the Continuum, two years ago, I never thought you'd return… and in such a monumental fas.h.i.+on." An Mo spoke, his seemingly tyrannical demeanour had vanished.

Zhang Long… he was his favourite apprentice. The one soft spot in his jagged heart of ice.

Two years ago, Zhang Long entered into a rivalry with an Imperial Prince… Wei Zing. A nasty piece of work, horrid and abusive of his power.

The Prince Wei Zing challenged Zhang Long to a duel. Both the Prince and his apprentice were Dao Transformation genius', prodigies that graced the Forgotten Valley with their presence.

Wei Zing… he was obliterated by the 'Demonic Dragon' – Zhang Long.

Not even his bones remained, what was the Wei Empire's reaction? Mark Zhang Long for death, hunt him down, hound him like a dog. He didn't know a moment's peace.

In the end, he decided to enter the one place that n.o.body could follow – The Continuum.

None followed, all thought he was as good as dead. Even the Imperial Family.

And like that, Zhang Long was mourned for by his master. Just his master though, everyone else but a select few celebrated! Cheered! It was practically a jubilee!

Zhang Long never made many friends…

He'd returned though. Neither h.e.l.l on Heaven could keep him away, much to the chagrin of the Sect Master and the delight of An Mo!

"Never would I have expected that you'd survive the Continuum, Zhang Long. Which inheritance did you acquire?" An Mo asked, curious about his apprentice's newfound power.

"My inheritance?" Zhang Long lips smirked, "I received the blessing of Yao Di. A man of ancient blood rituals and medicine. It was interesting to be sure. It taught me that there are many ways to achieve power. Once could swing a sword a million times, or one could be more subtle. One could wait for the perfect opportunities, create a tidal wave of power and seize it for their own." Zhang Long grinned, taking another sip of his tea.

"Why have you returned then?" An Mo said with some hesitation, unsure of Zhang Long's intentions.

"Hm. In the memories of Yao Di, I learnt the truth of our Sect. The truth of the Spirit Sword Sovereign."

Woos.h.!.+

A cold wind started to howl in the mountain breeze, whipping through the various peaks fast enough to cut at a mortal's skin.

"The truth?" An Mo finally picked up his tea, using it to warm his hands.

"The truth. The truth of who Zhu Xuan, the Spirit Sword Sovereign truly was."

Hmmm!

As Zhang Long said the name, long forbidden by annals of time, the entirety of Spirit Sword Mountain started to hum. Echoing in the ears of all who could understand the ancient language.

A smile curled on Zhang Long's mouth, an eery and terrifying one at that.

"What is the truth, Zhang Long." An Mo asked, his eyes full of curiosity.

"He's still alive." Zhang Long took another sip of his tea.

Crack!

An Mo sat there, shocked. His eyes wide and his heart in a furious uproar.

"Still… alive? That's impossible… The records… The records say-"

"The records lie," Zhang Long interrupted his master, "From the information I've gathered I've learnt a great many things. The first is that the Sect Master was only a clone. A clone sent here to cultivate, to live and learn. To experience the lower worlds." Zhang Long explained.

"It was by a simple accident that our Spirit Sword Sect was even created. Apparently, it was a matter of fate, teaching some simple mountain folk how to protect themselves from awful oppressors… then somehow it evolved into this." Zhang Long continued.

"The clone of Zhu Xuan gave up cultivating at the Qi Core stage, instead, devoting the entirety of his time to teaching the mountain people how to cultivate. In the end, he died of old age, only living to the very limits of a Qi Stage cultivator; five-hundred and fifty-four years."

"After his death, his sword was split apart. The Primary Shard; The Spirit Shard, which formed the oppressively large Spirit Sword Mountain at the centre of our Sect. Then the four sub-shards: The Demonic Shard; The Vanquis.h.i.+ng Shard; The Righteous Shard and finally the Elemental Shard." Zhang Long finished, revealing the birth and structure to the Sect that An Mo had never heard of.

A long time pa.s.sed, finally, An Mo said, "So you've returned to take all the pieces of Zhu Xuan's sword?"

Zhang Long gave a nod, "From my calculations, the sword should be a Scriptural Sword, much like the old Yun Ancestor's Purple Cloud Sword. It should hold the teachings required to transcend the heaven's themselves."

"And once you take them, what will happen to my Spirit Sword Sect?" An Mo asked, his eyes encompa.s.sing an unknown sadness upon them.

"The Spirit Sword Sect?" Zhang Long questioned, "The Spirit Sword Sect will have several options before it; the most likely of which is the dissolution of the Sect. Perhaps the Four Peaks will fight over what remains of the Primary Inheritance under the Spirit Sword Mountain, with Zhu Xuan's sword gone though… they'll be fighting over crusty scrolls and broken pottery." Zhang Long finished, standing up, looking towards the Spirit Sword Mountain.

"How long do we have?" An Mo asked out of morbid curiosity.

"Six – maybe seven years."

An Mo hung his head, shame filled his eyes. It was him that failed to foster feelings of love for the Spirit Sword Sect in his apprentice's heart.
