Because Princess Lingchen was not appropriately dressed, the Empress accompanied her father to wait in the waiting hall. After a long time of waiting, Jiang Mingyue walked out with sweat on her face. She greeted both the Empress and her grandfather.
"How is Lingchen?" the Empress asked.
Mingyue bowed. "Answering to Her Majesty, the Crown Princess recovery process is going well. With more rest and treatment, she will be back to health before the Spring Hunt."
The Empress' gaze softened as she looked at the girl in front of her. "Mingyue, thank you."
Jiang Mingyue lifted her head with surprised. Her gaze met with the Empress'. "Your Majesty, it was my job as the Crown Princess' physician."
The Empress shook her head, and the hair ornament dangling on her hair moved along. "It was your wedding yesterday, but instead of accompanying your husband, you choose to stay by Lingchen's side to nurse her back to health. For that, thank you."
Mingyue had gotten married to the man he loved yesterday. But instead of spending their wedding night together, she had entered the palace in a hurry when she heard the news that the princess was unwell. As she thought of her husband, Mingyue's lips curved into a faint smile.
As a wife, as a newlywed, she was supposed to serve her husband. But Yang Yun had allowed her to enter the palace. Mingyue could not help but think of how lucky she was to find someone who understood her ambitions and priorities.
The three of them had a brief chat before the Empress retreated to accompany the Emperor for a lunch break. Mingyue then ushered her grandfather into the princess' room to discuss her health.
Imperial mother, grandfather," Princess Lingchen greeted weakly.
Han Zhenting sighed as his eyes laid on his granddaughter's pale face. He last saw Princess Lingchen last night at the wedding banquet. Because of his old age, he had returned to his infirmary earlier. However, this morning, a servant under the Empress' found him and escorted him to enter the palace. It was only then that he learned the poison in the princess' body had come back.
"How are you feeling?" Han Zhenting asked a few questions to the princess and checked her complexion. Then, he examined the princess' pulse.
The room turned quiet as Han Zhenting examined the princess' pulse. After a while, a deep frown appeared on the old man's face, but no one dared to make a sound for fear that they might disturb the physician.
"Father, what do you think?" the Empress asked when Han Zhenting retreated his hand. The Empress' expression was anxious.
Han Zhenting stared at the crown princess' face as he thought over the princess' pulse. Then, he turned around to the Empress and smiled rea.s.suringly. "You don't have to worry so much. With Mingyue's treatment, the poison in Princess Lingchen's body was suppressed. After a week or two of continuous treatment, Her Highness will be nursed back to her health."
The Empress heaved with relief. The family continued to chat a while longer before Han Zhenting decided to return to his infirmary.
Mingyue volunteered to sent her grandfather to the door. Once they almost reach the palace's entrance, Han Zhenting stopped on his track and turned to look at Mingyue. Once he was sure that their surrounding was safe, Han Zhenting opened his mouth to speak. "The princess' condition is worst than I thought."
Mingyue had known that the princess' condition was not as good this time. Although she did not want to say it, she had a suspicion that the poison had spread and harmed the princess' body. It was the reason why she asked the Emperor to allow her grandfather to enter the palace to examine the princess' body and discussed the best treatment for her.
"It was the same like before. Something had triggered the poison in your body to react," Han Zhenting said with a hushed voice. "However, this time the stimulation used was stronger than the last time. If we're not careful, or the treatment was delayed, there's a possibility that the poison will attack Her Highness womb."
Mingyue bit her lips. It seemed that her grandfather had diagnosed the same thing. Once the cold poison attacks the princess' womb, there are chances that the princess will be infertile. "Grandfather, what do you think we should do?"
