Upon hearing his father's order, Gong Xu tried to escape by retaliate from the burly guards who held him down, he fought them with all his might, however his retaliation didn't give much effect on them as they could subdue him easily.

The other guards brough a long bench and an axe to chop Gong Xu's fingers. It wasn't something that he could take it.

It would be better if Modama just killed him directly without this kind of torture.

"LET ME GO!!!" Gong Xu shrieked in fear upon seeing the axe in front of his eyes.

He was only a teenager and something like this was really scared him to death. He couldn't imagine the pain that he would get from this kind of torture.

Something in him told him to give up, but the other part of him said he didn't want to submit himself under Modama's threatening. He refused to help Modama, he liked the pain in his eyes and expression when the wave of aches. .h.i.t him.

But, unfortunately, Modama made sure he wasn't the only person who was in pain, as he wanted Gong Xu to feel the same as he did.

If Gong Xu still refused to concoct something useful for Modama, no physician could help him as Gong Xu's skill in both medicine and poison was so remarkable.

Gong Xu wanted to see Modama to live in pain like that, however, he wouldn't be able to witness those things if he was going to die now.

The young teenager shuddered when the guards put his hand on the bench.

He was afraid!

He had to admit it that he was afraid, he didn't want to die, there were a lot of things that he wanted to do. He wasn't ready to die.

It sounded coward, but that was what he felt now.

"I WILL DO IT!" Gong Xu cried out loud when the axe was raised high by the executor. "LET ME GO! I WILL DO IT!" He shouted again.

Right in time, the axe stopped mid air as the executor looked at Modama instruction, whether he should to continue or he had to stop.

"You will do it?" Modama asked while gritting in pain. "Answer properly!"

"I will… I will… I will…" Gong Xu stammered as he repeated his answer, he felt guilty. This was almost like he had betrayed his sister and sided with their resentful father.

He didn't want this end like this, but he couldn't ignore the fact that he was afraid to face death. He didn't as strong as he thought.

"Good." Modama waved his hand toward the executor and the guard behind Gong Xu so they could release him. "I will wait for the medicine in my room."

With that, Modama left the dark room with the help of the head of Misty Cloud Clan, who didn't say anything upon seeing the event that had occurred earlier.

He had been following Modama for years now, hence something like this wasn't something unusual in his eyes.

Leaving alone inside the room, Gong Xu struggled to sit down when all of the guards left the room and went to close the door behind them.

"Sister, I am sorry…" Gong Xu whispered to the darkness that gradually approached him.

Luna wouldn't blame him for what he did, but he blamed himself for being so coward and couldn't take the brunt of it.

Only if he had just accepted his fate, probably, with whatever Luna had done to Modama until he felt that extreme pain, it would kill him, the pain would kill him slowly.

Or at least, it would stop him from doing whatever he had been planning.

Only if he could endure it…

***

It had been three days since Luna had given birth to their first son, but she still not woke up yet.

Fortunately the midwives and the physician could save both of them, though the baby was underweigh, but he was quite health.

Xiao Tianyao named his son with the name after his brother, Xiao Mugi.

Actually, Xiao Tianyao and Xiao Jun had one more brother, unfortunately he died only an hour after he was born.

Both of them was antic.i.p.ated their new brother, however reality told the otherwise.

Thus, Xiao Tianyao gave that name to his first son.

Xiao Mugi wasn't an active baby, he was rarely crying and always been sleeping, and because Luna was still unconscious, Xiao Mugi would be breastfed by a wet nurse.

Since he was born, Xiao Tianyao only ever held him twice after that, he would let the wet nurse and the other maidservant to look after him.

Xiao Tianyao didn't feel quite attach with his son, he loved Luna, but he loathed Modama, this reality alone had torned him.

Everytime he was with Luna, he would think about how his father and she, before, had manipulated everything around him that was the caused of his parents' death and even himself.

It felt like he loved her, but he couldn't give her all of his heart, there was something that he couldn't accept, his heart couldn't handle the reality so well.

It felt almost like, he couldn't cut of his own hand although it had been poisoned and the poisoned would spread to all over his body.

Xiao Tianyao caressed Luna's pale face, her face was always been pale ever since he saw her for the first time.

If she wasn't the daughter of the person, who was trying to bring calamity upon this country and his life, how wonderful it would be? Xiao Tianyao could love her without holding back.

This thought came to his mind because a moment after the physician and the midwives announced that both of mother and son was in great condition, another news came.

This was about Xiao Jun.

The Emperor had been putting Xiao Jun in his toes by sending a.s.sa.s.sins to kill him, right after the news about Azura's army managed to conquere three cities in Zodasian's territory.

At this point, the Emperor thought he would win the war without Xiao Jun.
