The Nings and Xies gathered in a room to discuss .

"Old Xie what is going on?" Father Ning hurriedly asked . They have been preoccupied with the planning of the anniversary party and didn't see the news but the old lady kept quite even though she saw it .

"What is going on? I'll tell you what's going on, your witch of a daughter is set on ruining my daughter and my family . " Father Xie furiously said while pointing and Catherine who is drinking tea like she isn't the one who is been spoken to .

Father and Mother Ning looked towards Catherine before asking, "What happened, tell us . "

"That wretch of a child released these lies about my daughter causing her to lose face in her career and almost destroying the Xie business on the way . " Mother Xie yellowed as she threw the newspaper on the table showing the news regarding Ruby their 'innocent daughter' .

Catherine is this true, did you really lie against ruby" Mother Ning asked angrily .

"Mother, you raised me do you really think you raised a liar? And, yes I released it" Catherine calmly said earning a gasp from everyone except the weirdly quite grandmother and James .

Everyone else wore shocked expressions as to how straightforward Catherine replied .

Father Xie was about to explode in anger when Ruby said in between tears, "Catherine I know we haven't been close and I don't really care about my career and what people think but don't you care about people spreading rumors that your brother was cheated on by his fiancée . " mother Ning felt so bad for Ruby in this state .

"Fiancée?" a cold voice came from behind, James finally spoke . "When did I propose to you? Are you sure this engagement you refer didn't occur while you were sleeping?"

Mother Xie was so upset by James disregard for them that she stormed towards Catherine landing a hot slap on her beautifully flawless fair skin, "can you see what you've causes . Will you only rest when my family is destroyed . " Mother Xie screeched .

To be honest the slap wasn't so painful to Catherine but she needed to look pitiful so the old lady would speak up for her . So, when the slap landed she fell across the smearing a white dress and ruining her look . The tears just seemed to follow, Catherine was even surprised at how good of actor she was not only her even James was fooled . He rushed towards her helping her off the floor and wiping her tears away such a sweet moment completely infuriated the old lady even more
