As the night rose up, Dylan pitched a tent on top of the forecastle deck. It was the Captain's advice to avoid getting lost inside the s.h.i.+p. At first, he refused but surrendered in the end after getting lost within the s.h.i.+p just to find the sleeping quarters and came out of the s.h.i.+p at last in the morning as the Captain saw him inside the storage room.
"That is the reason why I told you not to roam around without me." The girl with the goggles on, Serene told him while watching him strap the tent tight so that it won't get blown by the strong sea breeze.
Dylan did not reply and ignored her until he finished pitching and strapping the tent. He immediately entered the tent and laid down.
Serene was annoyed by the att.i.tude he displayed. She turned her head around and saw the horizon and the starry sky above the mirror-like sea.
She remembered the time when she and her comrades persecuted until she remained. In her eyes, the scenes of her fellow Akans were killed and hunted. She can only feel guilty as she also remembered the faces of the mercenaries who died protecting her.
As time pa.s.sed by, she stood there unmoving and somewhat lonely. Dylan came out of the tent and saw her face. Although the goggles conceal her tears, Dylan knew that she was in pain. It is not the first time that he found her in a daze and on the verge of collapsing into tears.
He thought it must be due to the deaths of her comrades who tried to protect her from the pirates. His guess is actually half right.
He stood beside the girl looked at the same horizon. He lifted his hands and placed it on top of her head which caught her in surprise. The pat brought her out of the daze. She quickly turned around as she found herself in tears afraid of showing Dylan of her weak self.
"Just, don't let their sacrifice be in vain."
Serene heard the words said by Dylan. Although it was not loud it reverberated into her mind.
She quickly replied, "What do you mean?"
Usually, when she asked using the same phrase and words her head will swing sideways and act innocently but this time she did not look at Dylan.
She walked towards the tent and rested. Dylan did not bother her and continued to look at the Horizon.

"Mom, I hope you are alright. Just wait for me... wait for me... I'll get you back, I promise..."
Dylan kept on looking at the horizon as he remembered his lost mother. He clenched his fist tight and s.h.i.+fted his sight towards his hand and opened it.
"I have to become an admiral, fast!"
"You sure are ambitious, Dylan!"
Dylan turned around and saw captain Allen walking towards him.
"To become an admiral in a short amount of time is no joke, Dylan. Do you think you have the power to equal to them?"
"Captain, although I don't know my full capabilities. I know I should have the strength more than a captain's. I shouldn't be weaker compared to you captain."
Allen's brows rose and looked at Dylan, he asked, "You gained some improvements?"
Dylan did not reply and looked at the horizon once again. Allen followed and continued, "So, what's the feeling of meeting another Akan like yourself?"
The young jolted as he doubted what he heard. Allen looked at him and said, "Suprised? I know you are a half-human, Dylan. Who do you think am I? I am your biological uncle, you know?"
"Then, you knew all along that I am part Akan and human?"
"Of course. You inherited the blood from your mother." Allen once again looked at Dylan and said, "That Serene, is a pureblood. Be sure to keep that a secret or she will be exposed into great danger. I suppose the ones who infiltrated the HQ knows this too. So be careful."
Dylan nodded and saw Allen turned around and leave. He saluted as a naval courtesy.
He thought, "Captain Allen, knows."
The sky is still dark and only the stars are lit apart from the lights of the s.h.i.+p and the moon. It was quiet, the waves are calm as Dylan once again looked at the horizon.
He peered at the tent's opening and saw the girl clutching her guts. She looked in pain.
Serene!
He quickly entered the tent and woke her up.
"Are you in pain? What's wrong?"
The girl looked at him with glaring eyes. She ignored him and shoved his hands.
"Hey! Serene!"
"Serene!"
Annoyed by his persistence, she punched Dylan straight to the face and said, "It's my day of the month, idiot!"
Taken by surprise, Dylan took the punch with his face and unconsciously repeated her words with innocence.
"day of the month?"
