John 3:16, 18

For G.o.d so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the

I am sure almost all church goers can tell you off-hand the scriptures quoted above. I have read the same scriptures for more than three decades until the Lord decided to give me a divine insight into the mystery we call "The Name of Jesus!.

More than 29 years ago, I was seeking the mind of G.o.d as to the prompting I received along the line of pioneering a ministry, when suddenly I heard myself saying "it shall be called the Name of Jesus Ministries". That is where we got the name our ministry bears today from. I started ministering on the Wonderful Name of Jesus until a woman with a prolong issue of blood came to the church and later was in the healing line. I prayed and she was slain under the power of G.o.d, and instantly healed. Within one year or so, she had a bouncing baby boy. That day, the Lord said something to me that touched me very deeply. He said; "My son, learn more to preach in my Name. There are many more things in my Name that you don't know yet". That shocked me. Before then, there had been series of outstanding testimonies of signs and wonders accompanying the teaching and preaching of His word in my ministry.

Nevertheless, the Lord was talking of my ignorance of this mystery. I then went to study until I had this personal knowing.

Look at verse 18 again, He that believeth on who? Him. The word "Him" can be replaced with Jesus and then read this way:

He that believeth on Jesus is not condemned, but He that believeth not Is condemned already because he hath not believed on Jesus.

But instead of rendering verse 18 of the third chapter of john like that, the Bible says;

He that believeth not in Jesus is condemned already because he has not believed in the Name of the only begotten son of G.o.d".

The use of Jesus (noun) or Him (p.r.o.noun) was replaced in that verse with His Name. it therefore means that what Jesus did personally on earth during His earthly ministry, His Name can do now.

Act 10:38

How G.o.d anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for G.o.d was with him.

The power invested in the person and ministry of Jesus is now invested in his exalted Name for the church so that you can go in the power of the Holy Ghost like Jesus to deliver the captives and to heal the sick. Hear what Peter said when challenged by the rulers, elders, scribes and dethroned high priest of His days.

Act 4:7,8,10.

And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom G.o.d raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

Peter told them that faith In the Name of Jesus healed the crippled man. The more you let people know what is done in that Name, the more the confidence you will have.

Peter spoke as if His name is himself. He placed a personality to His Name. Wors.h.i.+ping his Name therefore amounts to wors.h.i.+ping him. No wonder His Name opens us to the fullness of the Holy Spirit.

The great weapon of ruin to G.o.d's majesty and purpose is religious spirits inspired by various fallen angels in the world today. Our Lord Jesus Christ spent substantial part of His ministry work preaching at this monster.

While the Pharisees represented set of hypocrites (like their names, they were too far to see the truth) the Sadducees represented spiritual ignoramuses. Jesus once said to them

Mark 12:24.

And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of G.o.d?

Great leaders have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. They were opposing the early church from one corner to another because the early church had a revelation of the power of G.o.d as invested in the Name of Jesus. Once this could stop, then the divine access to power and honor was stopped.

Sad to say, in very few places today, do you find the enemies of the gospel opposing your mentioning the Name, like the parrot that name does not make much meaning to the modern-day Christians. Knowledge brings revelation and revelation procures revolution. Since revolution implies changes, then the ultimate purpose of G.o.d is for you to catch up with what G.o.d intends to do in your days through the church. Mediocrity is our greatest enemy in the church. I remembered a man once said that G.o.d will deliver desperate, helpless and hopeless souls, but He can do little for those who are spiritually full. He will rather deal with a cold heart that requires total overhauling than a complacent and lukewarm person that is stagnant.

May G.o.d help you to start to do what G.o.d has ordained you to do with the exalted and powerful Name of Jesus. The rod of Moses which became the rod of G.o.d used in the separation of the Red sea and the consecrated hair of Samson were never as powerful as the wonderful Name of Jesus in the mouth of the believers.

John 3:16

For G.o.d so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

I want to pick on the word "His only begotten Son" so you can have a further insight. Many times we a.s.sume than john 3:16 says that G.o.d gave us His son. He did not says that. It says His only begotten son. When was he begotten? What does it means to be begotten?

Open to the thirteenth chapter of Acts of Apostle to see what the bible has to say about the word 'begotten'.

Act 13:33

G.o.d hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

The prophecy in verse 33 answers the question 'when was Jesus begotten? This verse indicates that it was a particular day, the day of resurrection, demonstrating to all that the Jesus we receive at new birth is the risen Jesus. He died as the perfect son of man being made a sin offering but resurrected as the glorified son of G.o.d having defeated the devil and all his cohorts.

Colossians 2:15

And having spoiled princ.i.p.alities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

No wonder when you receive Jesus as lord and savior, the Bible refers to you as more than conquerors. He is more than a conqueror the one who enjoys the victory of the conqueror. Jesus conquered for you and you enjoy the victory that was wrought at Calvary. But thank G.o.d for the resurrection. If Jesus did not resurrect our salvation and hope would have been in vain. In fact, Paul said we would have been the most miserable men to be pitied on earth. Thank G.o.d Jesus defeated the devil and received the victory giving us power and dominion.

Mary Magdalene once attempted to detain Jesus after his resurrection but hear what the risen lord said.

John 20:17

Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my G.o.d, and your G.o.d.

G.o.d becomes our father and our G.o.d because Jesus paid the supreme price and by the resurrection, G.o.d justified his claim.

They nailed him to the cross because according to them, they thought he was blaspheming saying that he was the son of G.o.d. Jesus was raised from the grave showing that G.o.d the father had justified his claim that He is truly the son of G.o.d.

Then it is save to render John 3:16 like this

"For G.o.d so loved the world that he gave his only risen son, the fruit from the grave…"

I want to show the difference between Jesus Christ in earthly ministry and Jesus Christ that you receive as Lord and savior. n.o.body was born again before the resurrection because the cross-experience was ahead of them but today people are born again since Calvary is now about two-thousand years old. The operation of G.o.d in your lives is at a higher dimension as you receive the risen Jesus into your lives. No wonder Jesus said in his earthly ministry that the one that believes in him will do greater work as his exalted Name will now be available to the church. He will now do through you by the use of His name what was impossible for the disciples during his earthly ministry.

In the epistle of Paul to the Philippians, the exaltation of Jesus was also mentioned.

Philippians 2:6-10

Who, being in the form of G.o.d, thought it not robbery to be equal with G.o.d:

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

And being found in fas.h.i.+on as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Wherefore G.o.d also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

This pa.s.sage talked about the life, ministry and the exaltation of Jesus. In earthly ministry, he knew things only as revealed to him by the Holy Ghost. The exalted Jesus that you received at new birth has obtained a higher name. The princ.i.p.alities and powers of darkness that are arrayed against you are now within your divine ability to subdue as you reign in life by Christ Jesus. You are destined to reign as king and priest here on earth. It means you and I shouldn't behave as if we are weak, defeated and discouraged. No! Many times when you talk of your defeat and weakness calling yourself a failure, you make G.o.d unhappy and frustrate his grace.

1 John 5:4

For whatsoever is born of G.o.d overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Believing what G.o.d has said concerning your life will bring you over and above circ.u.mstances and situations of life.

Luke 5:1-8 narrates the encounter of our lord with Simon the fisher-man. We see how Simon surrendered his s.h.i.+p for our Lord's preaching engagement. After all, what is the use of a boat to a man who labored all night and caught nothing. Let us see the first verse of that encounter.

See, he was acting on the words of Jesus. His words produced results. G.o.d has tied His power to His word and it is only powerless when it is not spoken or acted upon. What Peter received is what the revivalist call a net-breaking miracle. Miracles that have become so unmanageable that you will require outside help is the miracle mentioned here. Many a times, our steps of faith are so insignificant to us like it was to Peter that we often despise them. When you refuse to take necessary steps, you limit the manifestation of what G.o.d wants to do in your life. One prayer you need to pray always is "Lord, amaze me with your power".

Let us not depart from our focus as we look at a similar encounter after resurrection but before our Lord ascension. Peter in a spirit of defeat and condemnation went back to fis.h.i.+ng after having denied the lord during the hour of crisis and temptation. He called with him six other disciples to go with him to fish and as they went Jesus appeared unto them.

In his capacity as the risen Jesus having obtained eternal redemption for us, it will do us good to see post-resurrection miracles of Jesus. Some today wish they were on earth during the earthly ministry of Jesus while he was in the flesh as he ministered in the streets of Galilee. I tell you, you are more privilege than those people.

Look at John 21:3, 4,6,11 for this miraculous catch;

Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fis.h.i.+ng. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a s.h.i.+p immediately; and that night they caught nothing.

But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the sh.o.r.e: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

John 21:3-4

And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the s.h.i.+p, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the mult.i.tude of fishes.

Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, and hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.

When you go back on your consecration to his plans and purpose, you expose yourself to frustration and failure like it happened in the above encounter. G.o.d does not forget where he places his investment. The visitation and investment of Jesus brought a miracle but with a difference. Instead of a net-breaking miracle they had a life sustaining abundance.

The first time the net broke because of natural law in place but the second time, it was sustained by the supernatural power of the Glorified Son of G.o.d. The first time it was Jesus, the son of man anointed of the Holy Ghost and standing in the five-fold ministry offices but the second time it was the supernatural ability of the son of G.o.d- the eternal life of G.o.d. What a privilege!

No wonder the Lord Jesus wants you to do greater works. Thank G.o.d for our advantage in Christ as we have as our possession the exalted Name of Jesus. Some have taken advantage of their privilege in Christ. Some have not.

There is just as much power in the Name as in the person of JESUS.

The Name is not only wonderful but it is raised by Elohim to the status of G.o.d himself for the sake of the church.

His Name is not only wonderful but the prophesy of Isaiah that had its fulfilment in JESUS placed a personality to HIS NAME as he called it COUNSELLOR, MIGHTY G.o.d, EVERLASTING FATHER, and PRINCE OF PEACE.

What Deity can do his Name can also do. What a mystery packaged-in that wonderful Name.
