When Crystal awoke, she found herself floating in a dark and mostly empty s.p.a.ce, still in her true avatar form, her core nowhere in site.

'Um... this is rather odd,' she thought to herself, 'I wonder what happened after the battle to lead to such a situation.'

Seconds turned to minutes, and minutes became tens of minutes, yet still, nothing happened.

"Ugh, am I dead again...?" Crystal wondered out loud, "Is this a punishment for dying only three hours after my reincarnation? ...Consultant? ...Anyone?"

No reply came no matter how long she waited.

"Oh right, I forgot... open menu," Crystal commanded, suddenly remembering her ability to do so.

[Which menu would you like to open?:

"Eh, what's this?" she wondered upon seeing the list, "so avatar isn't limited to being an imp then? That's helpful to know."

Crystal decided to just spend her time in the void just researching all the things she didn't know, starting with her menus...

She also looked at the description for each and every word as well.

"So dungeon core mode can do endless amounts of summoning, building, and stuff, but can't leave the dungeon without destroying said dungeon, and I die if it breaks.

Avatar mode can basically be any creature so long as I have it unlocked, and it can basically go anywhere I wish, it can also be resummoned if it dies.

Finally, true avatar can only be an imp, but is far stronger that the imp version of the regular avatar, and can do anything the dungeon core can... but I die if it's destroyed," Crystal summarized her finding before deciding to move on to dungeon menu.

An unknown amount of time later...

As Crystal was looking through the near infinite list of traits in the trait menu, she felt a sudden impact throughout her entire body, a collision with something solid which lay beneath her. In other words, ground.

Gravity had been reinstated.

"Ugh..."Crystal groaned, as she lifted herself from the pitch black surface, glad to observe any surroundings that didn't consist exclusively of darkness.

Sadly however, she found her surroundings to be lacking in this place as well. It was mostly filled with sketchy looking torture devices, all of which were positioned around a throne of skulls.

Crystal then felt a chill run down her spine as she noticed the being who was staring it her from atop said throne, the one who had referred to herself as Sorrow, G.o.ddess of sadness and despair.

"I really am dead again, aren't I?" Crystal asked dejectedly.

However the response she received was quite unexpected, not only the answer itself, but the way in which it was delivered as well.

A 'Bzzzzzzt' sound, like those heard when giving an incorrect answer on a game show, suddenly buzzed loudly from behind her.

She quickly jumped away from the sound, pivoting around to see its source, much as she had done upon first meeting Sorrow.

There, floating to her front, in a reclined position, was an imp much like herself, though a bit older looking, and lacking any trace of colour in both her body and her attire. Two large b.u.t.tons, one red, one green, floated casually in the air to her side.

Crystal, asumming her to be a G.o.ddess, as she shared the s.p.a.ce with Sorrow, and only knowing the name of one G.o.d other than sorrow, easily deduced the floating person's name.

"...Are you perhaps Scree, the G.o.ddess of imps and whimsy?" Crystal asked hesitantly.

'Ding ding ding ding!' Sounded the green b.u.t.ton as Scree pushed her index finger down upon it.

"Ah, and don't worry about being dead by the way... your just, like ninety-eight percent dead, and landed yourself in a month long coma, so no biggie," she added with a wry smile a moment later.

'A month!?' Crystal screamed internally, both shocked and relieved, 'at least my body should be fine without food or water... probably.'

She then realized something far less important.

"...Um, if you can speak, why were you answering with the buzzer?" She asked, genuinely unsure of the reason for such a lame gag.

"These things were super hard to make, now that I don't really have a body to make things with that is..." the imp replied casually.

Before Crystal had the chance to ask what she meant by that, Scree continued speaking, "but no one around here gets the reference... such an epic fail on my part."

She then dropped from her reclined position, landing on her feet, the two b.u.t.tons vanis.h.i.+ng as she did so.

Scree stifled a yawn before continuing, "so I see you went and did something stupid while fighting that bone golem, huh?"

Crystal remained silent at that remark, unsure of Scree's opinion on the matter.

"... Don't worry, I'm not gonna verbally scold you or anything. Honestly, I probably would have done the same in your situation," the G.o.ddess then said, prompting a relieved sigh from Crystal.

Her next words, however, made that sigh redundant.

"...That wasn't a compliment by the way, I'm a bit of a fool after all... it's part of my nature," Scree said, still smiling, "and the only reason I'm not verbally scolding you is because actions speak louder than words."

Crystal really didn't like the way Scree put that.

Then, far faster than Crystal could perceive, Scree gave a chop to the top of Crystal's head.

"Ouch!" Yelped the chop's recipient in response, quickly s.h.i.+elding the top of her head from further violence.

It didn't really hurt all that much, no more than if it had been done by a small child, it instead just left a generally unpleasant feeling in the spot that had been chopped, one which slowly dispersed itself throughout Crystal's body a moment later.

The chop was followed by a message.

[Congratulations! You have received 'The crab's blessing(Minor)(Temp)'

The crab's blessing(Minor)(Temp): The next time you summon a minion, no matter the method used to do so, it will be summoned as a randomized crab minion of equal rank instead. This blessing will apply once for each of the ten worldly ranks, G to SSS, before being being permanently removed.]

"Please no, I won't do it again, I swear, just not that!" Crystal begged upon seeing the blessing's description.

The blessing could only be seen as a curse to Crystal.

Scree however just have a shrug as she replied, "anyway, putting that aside-."

"Please don't put that aside!" Crystal interject, only to be ignored.

"I'll do much worse next time..." the G.o.ddess declared with a hint of finality, ignoring any further objection from Crystal.

"So... as I was saying," Scree began once again, "there's someone I want to more properly introduce you too, as she is apparently quite bad at doing so on her own." a

She then beckoned for Sorrow, who still sat atop her throne, to come join the conversation.

Several minutes later...

"So... your saying that... she's not evil?" Crystal questioned hesitantly, having had such be explained to her over and over for the past several minutes.

"Yes!" Screamed Scree in frustration.

"...It's not very nice to lie to people" replied Crystal in a disappointed tone, a truly offended look upon her face.

The aura of despair given off by Sorrow, and that actions she had taken previously, simply couldn't be overcome be words alone.

"G.o.ddammit! Sorrow, I'm showing her the video, okay!?" Scree pleaded Sorrow in frustration.

She was of course referring to the video where Sorrow was literally crying due to being misunderstood by Crystal.

"Ugh... fine..." Sorrow muttered reluctantly, looking as if she she had just eaten something bitter.

Another couple minutes later...

"... I'm sorry," Crystal apologized to Sorrow, only a moment after the video had ended. The video had truly shattered her established impression of the G.o.ddess.

"T-there's no way the anserine misunderstandings of a mere mortal would- Ouch!?" Sorrow began, her nature as an evil G.o.d showing once more, before quickly being snapped her out of it by a chop from Scree, "um... I-I mean... thank you, and, um, I'm sorry if I scared you... I hope we can get along better from now on..."

Scree then gave her a satisfied nod and an unwanted pat on the head before turning to Crystal.

"Now then..." she said, "There's some things I should probably tell you before you get sucked back into your half destroyed body."
