Malros invited everyone to the adjoining council room where they could discuss the matter of Lochlea village, lifestone and Vorn in greater detail.

The Council Room could be described as a fishbowl with the semi translucent walls revealing leafy foliage of the surrounding trees and the feeling of swimming in the air. The only piece of furniture was a round white stone table at the center and twelve stone chairs around it.

Darick glanced to the ceiling with awe a semi translucent view of Staar's night sky twinkling with stars. Of course, this view was a fake since the true sky was shrouded by dense canopy. The fairy magic allowed for an impression to exist within the room.

"My lords, please be seated. We must discuss upon a course of action towards the Vorn's invasion. I would wager that Alaeg will be the next area of interest in them." Malros called everyone to a seat before the council table.

Darick sat to Corin's left next to Luca whose brothers were on the other side of Corin. The sounds of chiming and shuffling of feet entered the room from Corin and Darick's backs. Other white robed half-elf/fairy women and men of affluence and regality a.s.sumed the remaining seats of the table.

"We have a full council. Let's discuss the matter of Lochlea and the Vorn." Malros opened the royal conference with an action item.

Darick and Corin silently observed the discussions being palmed around the table, and noted on the table's surface as a person would write into a notebook.

Each seat was before a circular royal crane seal that was stamped onto the table's surface near the edge. Each time a person spoke, the seal glowed a bright gold to release fine lines of light. The lines would reshape themselves into letters, transcribing the speaker's words onto the surface. The speaker would press their palm on the seal when they finished their piece to allow for another speaker's words to be noted.

"Why would the devastation of Lochlea befall upon Alaeg? Surely, our magic has kept us hidden thus far?" Grumbled an elderly seriph, whose silver eyes were narrowed with a set att.i.tude.

"The Vorn are seeking to extend their reach of power. They have already converted many of the East Clans to their numbers as our scouts have reported. Now they seek to claim the West, and complete domination over all of Staar." Malros's voice was calm, but the soberness behind his words left an impression of doom.

"So, you are saying Alaeg is not immune?" Gasp a seriph woman.

"That is what I am saying. Oligarch's kin attacked Lochlea for the Lifestone.

Malros's words struck a chord with everyone in the room. Mentioning the Vorn patriarch's name was enough to send s.h.i.+vers down everyones' spines and thoughts reeling with portents of dark times.

"If the Vorn's Patriarch were to receive the Lifestone?" Another seriph councilman posed his question.

Selma sighed and answered to the man's question. "He's a ruler with purpose and focus. It is not uncommon knowledge his l.u.s.t for power and the bringing of the demon world, Scorll, into our own. We have been informed of his gathering armies towards Mount Lonely. He has his sights set on the Dragonieth."

Heavy silence hung about the room, causing the table's crane seals to stop glowing. Corin felt thoughts and eyes on his face being the lone Dragonieth in the room.

"What must we do?" Luca asked the council, breaking the silence and causing the table to light up again.

Malros leaned back into this chair with a deep frown and brooding expression. Of all his thoughts there was only one obvious conclusion. "One of us must reach Mount Lonely and claim the Dragonieth for Staar before the Vorn does."

"What would that achieve, Sire?" Alec innocently asked.

"The obvious. Ensure the Vorn Patriarch's plans are thawted. Oligarch will stop at nothing to gain power and see Staar transformed into another demon world."

Everyone listened attentively to Malros's folktale about two brother G.o.ds who made a pact to protect each other's worlds from their diabolical father, Scorll, who was the demon G.o.d. These brothers were Staar and Dragona. Staar had lent his power to ensure a security barrier to Dragona. Dragona did the same, allowing four power types to seal Staar from outworldly invasions. Both of the brother's worlds would only be linked to each other via their perspective barrier powers. No means was capable of creatures born off one world to enter the other. Part of the barrier's powers.

"If Staar is locked to other worlds then why would Vorn Patriarch be determined to see another world in?" Darick blurted his thought.

"Because the barrier is weak. Has been for many centuries. The reason why we do have nightstalkers and other demons causing havoc in our world. He is taking advantage." Selma calmly answered.

"What does he intend to do with the Dragonieth?" Corin soberly posed his nagging question to the council.

"Aside from gaining the power himself? Use it to destroy the barriers completely, allowing Staar a free for all world where otherworld domination would be a reality." Deign answered with a sober voice.

Malros rose and approached Corin. He stood before him with his hand extended before Corin's face.

Interpreting on the gesture, Corin removed the pouch Avorond had given him and placed it in the man's hand.

Malros said a spell that caused the pouch to turn black with an impression of solid obisdian before resuming its natural tanned leather form. He handed it back to Corin.

Darick gasped when he saw that the pouch and leather chain became invisible against Corin's neck and chest.

"The pouch will remain invisible and undetectable whilst it is in contact with your skin Lord Corin. Only your skin." Malros informed him and returned to his position before the council.

"Here is what will occur." Malros decided for his court.

Darick and Corin gasped at the king's suggestion.

"I offer Prince Luca to travel with these Lords of Lochlea. However, one of them must be his sponsor. Therefore..."

"I'll do it! I'll be Luca's sponsor!" Darick instantly answered before Malros finished with his decree. "My apologise, Sire."

Malros sighed. "Very well. If Our Queen is in agreence."

Selma looked far from impressed with her husband's decree. She hesitated with an obvious expression of disapproval.

"If it is Sire's bidding, I mark my words to agree." She forced through her teeth and slammed her palm on her seal at the table to note her words.

The rest of the council followed suit, most grumbling with similar expressions to Selma. A few were indifferent to the arrangements.

Luca was unable to hide his expression of happiness as he sealed his agreement to the cause.

Corin frowned, mirroring a similar expression to Selma. Although, his was of confusion and questions.

"Are you sure about this Darick?" Corin carefully worded his concern, but realised his question was a wasted one.

Darick nodded with a goofy smile and eyes lit up like a kid seeing fireworks for the first time.

Corin's frown deepened, wondering why he hadn't noticed Darick and Luca's closeness. He knew they were firm friends being close in age, but surely they weren't in the same way as he was with his Hannah. It wasn't possible right? The thought didn't sit well with him.

Fortunately, his mind drifted to the sweet image of his blue-eyed, blond hair beauty. Hannah wasn't a pretentious stick figure as the other village girls. She was a perfect full figured woman with clever wisdom, a hearty smile and lots of love in her heart. He loved her pudgy hands, which were skilful in weapon making, the way her puffy cheeks flushed a light pink when she smiled; the tenderness of her skin around her wide hips, meaty arms and full b.r.e.a.s.t.s whenever they made love. His heart pounded with fears for her well being. Knowing her, she would've ensured other people had escaped first. Especially children.

Everything had happened so fast and with little warning, he wasn't able to register his true loss. Now that time gave him back a moment to feel and think. He wanted to leave Alaeg as soon as possible, so he could track the Vorn back to her. The quest was one thing, but rescuing Hannah was his priority. She had to be alive. He would not allow life to take her away from him. If any man or creature so much as hurt her, he vowed a lifetime of vegence on them. His hands curled into tight fists that turned his knuckles white at the thought.

"Corin."

Darick said his name to pull him out of his thoughts. His mood was still foul and determined with thoughts of finding and saving Hannah.

He aloofly followed his brother and Luca out of the room. They entered the homely parts of The Regia.
