War led us through the door, which opened into a grey marble corridor where one side of the wall was transparent gla.s.s, displaying the view of the forest we had trekked through and a vista of the star-studded night sky. The other wall was one enormous long stretch of mirror.

I thought back to that Arima Trap and shuddered. It wouldn't be nice if I found myself trapped within that type of place again. Although, the Arima Trap ended up being a Dimension Slip in the end.

I freaked when images of Skrit, those tree-man type demons in full black suits, appeared and moved about the mirrored surface.

"Death!" I gasped as I clung to my eldest brother's arm.

"Calm down git. They're fakes. Images plucked from dat disturbed head of yahs, made to appear and move about by Semblance Magic." War rea.s.sured me.

Like I could help my reaction. The images seemed real enough.

Nevertheless, I released Death's arm and followed War's lead towards the redwood door at the end.

It opened out to a white marble stone sitting area, beyond it was a vast pond of steaming water.

War led us to the tall stone bookshelves and shower troughs of the sitting area.

"Get outta yah clothes and stock 'em on dem pigeonhole shelves." War instructed us.

"Hey Small Cap. You awake?" I roused my spider friend.

_"Freend."_

I told him about undressing and having a bath.

Small Cap crawled out of the belt pouch and found a cool spot at the back of the pigeonhole shelf I stowed my clothes in. I felt his presence return to sleep and dreams about cosy bark and lots of snail snacks.

"Yergh!" War screwed up his nose.

I chuckled, realising he also would've seen Small Cap's happy thoughts of eating his favourite foods in his head.

"Sucked in." I felt some small piece of justice gained.

"Whatever." War blew off and grabbed my shoulders. "I wash yah back."

I stiffened at the cheeky tone to his voice. I sensed something was up.

"Nah. I get Death to do it." I wiggled out of his hold.

War flexed his hands and lunged for an attack. He grabbed me in a head lock and started practising some fighting manoeuvres on me.

"Come off it! We could slip you git!" I struggled in his hold. I thought of a mad clutter of redback spiders crawling over his body.

"Yehag!" War released me with a s.h.i.+ver, slapping his body with a mad pat down.

He relaxed and flashed me a proud thumbs up. "Nice going!"

"You're weird." I frowned and made my way to the stool and shower head next to Death.

He had just finished showering himself and was ready to enter the pond.

"Ignore your big brother's idiocy." Death groaned as he lathered my body with soap and showered me off. "Honestly, how many times must I preach to you guys about proper time and place for practice. As mentioned in Item No.12 of Section 28 of the Magism Code of Conduct and Consequence, which states..."

"Spare me Death!" I b.u.t.ted in on his lecture and yelped at the cutting pain to my ear lobes.

"I'm gonna have no ears left with all the pulling and pinching you guys give me!"

I rubbed my ear better.

"Then use those ears for listening!" Death scolded me.

He moved away and entered the pond.

I say pond, yet the ground surrounding it was of polished white grey and silver vein marble. Crescent moon benches of the same stone created a border around the pond's gold rimmed edges. At the far end on a cedar part.i.tion was a roaring lion's head with water gus.h.i.+ng out of its mouth.

I grumbled as I got up and followed him in.
