The sickle that was flying and twirling in midair and suspended with a chain was suddenly flicked back by its owner; ending the sickle to be at striking distance inches away from my face, momentarily stopped in midair before it returned back deftly in the hands of the a.s.sa.s.sin. The chain was about 8 feet or more in length and I had no way to be close to him or her at all!!!

"Swoosh...! Klang...!!" the sickle flew again while the a.s.sa.s.sin moved to encircle me to make me expose a blind spot to be hit and be hurt by that sickle. Even though it was a crude weapon but it serves its purpose well being thrown back and retracted before ending in a striking pose well inches from my body as I made futile attempts to block with my bamboo pole.

If one looked at it, the one wielding the bamboo pole would not even be able to touch the a.s.sa.s.sin compared to a ranged type weapon that the latter wielded. Truly it was against the odds!!

After a few pathetic attempts of trying to inflict injury to me by the flying and retracting sickle, I found a loophole but its worth a try and a chance in a million. Since the chain was about 6 or 8 feet in length, the duration for it to be thrown and pulled back to the beholder would take some seconds.

Within these few seconds, the beholder would not be able to do anything as the sickle was not in his possession as well as control. I evaded yet another flight of the sickle towards me but this time I moved a few paces beside and advanced a few steps ahead as the sickle was in flight and had not reached its maximum length of the chain.

I whacked the chain somewhat in the middle with my bamboo pole and thus making the sickle that was in flight to be retracted suddenly, and the ends of the chain that were held by the a.s.sa.s.sin was loose. This means that he had lost control momentarily of the weapon he was happily wielding earlier. His smile disappeared beneath his mask and a look of bewilderment took over his eyes instead.

The weapon that was supposed to be his advantage soon became the death of his next!

When the chain was being slammed down, the sickle in flight made a sudden comeback towards the beholder and he suddenly subconsciously moved a few steps to his left side ending an almost striking distance between him and me.

I heard through the loudspeaker mentioning about Kagome's name and I knew that she was alive and well and doing something that raised the attention of the voice from the loudspeaker.

"I got to find her after this!" my race thoughts as I was having a face-off with this opponent.

The a.s.sa.s.sin avoided the reflected sickle and it landed most hitting him instead and fell to the ground on his right. He made a rookie mistake by looking at the sickle instead of his opponent! A ROOKIE MISTAKE BY TAKING HIS EYES OFF ME!!!

THIS IS MY CHANCE!!!

I let out a wild yell as I s.h.i.+fted the bamboo pole on my right to my left hand and thrust at the centre ma.s.s of the a.s.sa.s.sin's body. It made a squishy penetrating sound like the sharp edge of the bamboo pole penetrated into his lower sternum. This could mean one thing!!

HIS HEART!!

As I drove the bamboo pole deep into his lower sternum, I used the momentum to roll forwards on his side and jumped up and let go a spinning flying reverse kick in his lower back!! The kick was precise and directly aimed and made the a.s.sa.s.sin's body to lean forward forcefully. The kick was not death threatening but as he was thrown forcefully forward, the bamboo pole struck the ground and he was immediately impaled with it and the sharp end of the bamboo pole pierced from the front and protruded his back midway.

The body went limp and the sudden adrenaline rush made me weak as it dissipated from my body. I lay spread-eagles on the ground and heaved heavily. After I had regained the momentum I sat up and saw the a.s.sa.s.sin's body was still in the same position; impaled at a slight angle, bent forward and blood oozing from the entry and exit wound as well as his mouth and nose that slowly pooled around his feet.

"Congratulations little sc.u.m! You had managed to kill one of my top-tiered a.s.sa.s.sin in a single strike...! Come over to my side, and be part of the darkness...! Join me as an a.s.sa.s.sin and eliminate your group of sc.u.ms whom you called friends... Muuuaaa... Haaa... Haaa... Haaa...!!!"

"f.u.c.k OFF AND DIE YOU STINKING b.a.s.t.a.r.d OF NO KNOWN MOTHER OR FATHER!!!" I screamed back at the voice that boomed across the forest as I danced a little victory dance around and showed both victory signs on both hands... So childish...tsk tsk tsk...

Soon after I rummaged the pockets of the dead a.s.sa.s.sins. If its a computer game fantasy, it would appear as if a system would announce something like, "You had gained x.x.x EXP and some coins. You had also gained common items, rare, legendary or epic items that you can equip blah blah blah... h.e.l.l no, this is not a computer games fantasy but it's so happening in 'real-life'.

I found the following: two candy" Snickers" bars, two chocolate muesli bar, a bottle of water, a packet of steel guitar strings (What the h.e.l.l he was carrying guitar strings for? Making music in his spare time?), an electronic tablet that needs fingerprint ID to activate, a 20,000 mA power bank, a solar flat panel charger, some Fisherman's Friend drops (sealed and unused, of course), a USB stick light and a small 1 foot long machete that was hung by the utility belt.

I stuffed all the items in my bag; hung the machete on my belt and used the tablet to unlock by using various fingers on the a.s.sa.s.sin's left and right hand (security feature was disabled even after several failed attempts) and finally managed to unlock the device.

I changed the security settings in the tablet to be unlocked by using my right forefinger's fingerprint ID. This way I could somehow 'cheat' and locate the rest of my friends even though it could only detect blips from 1km away. I pinched and zoom and found that the only blip on screen was the only belonging to mine.

One down, two to go... I muttered to myself as yet again I showed my middle finger at the nearest camera. I knew that the voice behind the loudspeakers was trailing whenever I go and surely had seen that I had gathered the spoils of war from the dead a.s.sa.s.sin's body.

Now to find my Kagome... As I grabbed hold of the sickle and chain that laid beside the body and moved towards the misty forest made by several fires earlier...
