New Life Online 215 The Confrontation

"Can we make it on time Miss Akko?" I asked as I don't know if I have the energy to even walk.

"Don't worry. We can just fly to Dragoon City. I can only carry one, though. The girl with you can stay here for now and rest. Emily can take care of her." I would like to stay here too but unfortunately, it's not the time to rest. They need me there.

"Sure, I am not really good with heights because of personal reasons so please don't let me fall," Memories are flowing but not today.

"Don't worry. I carry only those I can't drop. Just hold on tight. Are you ready?" She asked and then extended her hands.

"Oh... I believe you. If I fall, I'll probably get wrecked so please don't look. Haha." I just laughed it out.

She hugged me from the back and suddenly, a burst of flame was released from her feet and we flew up ahead.

Woah! It's not as bad as I imagined.

-Near Dragoon City-

In just a couple of minutes, we are getting near the Dragoon City which we traveled for a couple of hours. Where is justice?!

Life Guild's patrol was right. Dragoons City is completely surrounded. As Sh.e.l.la said, she got the back of the Dragoons Guild but it's not enough to defend from the other directions. Ravens and Hearth Fire army from the north, and Storm Seekers, Order of Light army and Serpentes from the South. This is way worse than I expected.

They didn't show motives of attacking us. They just let us pa.s.s from above and we reached the city without any problems. Are they here to start the war or are they plotting something?

-Dragoon Guild Hall-

I guided Miss Akko where to land. We arrived at the Dragoon's Guild Hall. Both Sh.e.l.la and Drake are waiting.

"Looks like some of our friends already want to meet us outside. They're not friendlier like they used to be, though. It's nice to see you again Miss Akko and Miss Osia." Drake commented about the opposing factions outside their guild.

"I would be glad to see you again, Mr. Drake, if there are no bullies outside your gates. What are your plans? I saw the Leader of Order of Light hanging around with the other leaders from the South. It seems they are not sure whether to talk or just bust in here." Miss Akko replied.

"Sure they got the numbers but they can't easily take down the city with these beauties around. With you right here, I bet they're thinking twice now." Drake... Is this how leaders talk?

"So what's the plan? Are they going to sit there forever or are they planning something?" I am seriously in a panic right now.

"They want us to surrender you to them or they will attack us at midnight but before we do that, I want to see a lot of people get drowned first helplessly," I should learn how to swim around Sh.e.l.la.

"Well, I hope you don't. Is there a way we can talk to them first? I don't think losses from both sides would be worth it." I suggested.

"You can try but be careful. I don't know what they're thinking right now. The old man is really hard to understand sometimes. I know you're not in the good condition so I'll come with you." Akko offered the company.

"Thank you. Should we try then?" showing my smile.

Then she nodded. I like how she shows concern. She's acting like a big sister, maybe because she has a little sister.

-South of Dragoon City, North of Storm Seekers City-

We arrived near the defenders of Order of Light near Storm Seeker's City. They used defensive stance to show that they are prepared to do anything when ordered.

The defenders stepped aside to make a way. Maximus showed up with his officers, Mari, Azzie, Zeth, and Deandre are now going towards our direction.

"Are you girls lost? This is not a good time for a stroll you know." Maximus started the conversation.

"I'm Chara of Other Side Guild and I'm with Miss Akko. I guess you already know her. We are here to invite you to the Dragoon Guild Hall and talk about stuff about the conflict." I explained.

"Sir, this might be a trap. We can't trust the guild of that murderer." Deandre's not really friendly with Jay's company when he was still part of their guild and not to mention, he hated Scy too.

"Don't worry. I can escape whenever I want. Also, I'm curious why Drake chose to be on your side instead of us. He disappointed me and the Alliance. I will meet you there. I'm going ahead first. I know the way around." Maximus replied. His guildmates are really staring at us and I can tell that they are not happy at all.

After saying that, he created a portal that sucks him in. This is the first time I saw that spell in person. I bet he's already there waiting for us.

-Dragoon City-

We didn't take that long. We arrived at the Dragoon City and are now heading towards the Guild Hall. We entered inside and they are all waiting, including Scythus.

"I guess we're all here. Jay is not here with us but I guess he's on his way now. Our scouts spotted them in the Beginner's Area and are now heading towards here. Should we start now?" Drake asked.

"Young Lady Chara is here so I guess she can be a representative for her guild for now. Isn't that right?" Maximus asked.

"You're right, Sir. I won't really waste your time here and just cut to the chase. We want to stop the war before it gets started." I hope we can change his mind.

"You already started the war. We've got some reports about raids done by your Guild. And not only that, we heard that some of your guildmates are lurking around our city before the Soulstone got lost. Now tell me that this isn't what you guys started." Maximus replied with aggression in his voice. What is he talking about?!

"What?! This must be a misunderstanding. We never crossed the Beginners' Area unless it's to help people. Our guild was built to help not to hurt people. Are you sure it was us?" There's no way we would raid villages.

"Witnesses told us what they have seen. They said that it was clear, the raiders are wearing the same types of equipment as you guys wear. While our city was just saved from the chaos and destruction of the invasion, you guys are enjoying your time ransacking our villages." This is absurd.

"With all due respect, Sir. G.o.d knows that we didn't do such things. I'm one of the leaders of our Guild and before our guildmates do something, leaders talk about it first. If other leaders are here, they would say the same. We can understand your concern about the soul stone but with other issues, we are not part of it." I'm not feeling good about this.

"Who should I trust? My people's words or yours? I can't stand still here and do nothing. For my people, I will eradicate every threat!" Maximus stood up and hit the table. His voice is starting to get serious. He's a jolly old man but this is really different.

"Relax old man. You, being angry with Other Side is reasonable but there's a possibility that their guild is being framed, not to mention Deandre did it to me and I know you knew all along." Scythus stated his ideas. The other people in the Guild Hall are showing a bit startled expressions but Scy seems to be not fl.u.s.tered at all. How can he be so calm?

"Stay out of this. I've let your crimes slide because of my people's wrong decision but if you will stop us get the justice we are looking for, then you will not be spared. Did you say frame? Who would gain anything from that?" Maybe trying to help them in the invasion was a bad idea after all. We were so peaceful but now... this is all happening so fast.

"Your guild took a lot of damage from the invasion. Your walls are weaker than it used to be now. Are you sure you want to do this? Do you even trust the other guilds?" Scy replied. Maximus chose the worst guilds. Those guild leaders are known to have a bit of character.

"Fine. I will pull back the army for now. But beware, we will do anything to get the Soul stone back before it gets to the wrong hands." He stood up. Thank G.o.d. I hope we can fix this sooner. I guess he needs more time to think and calm down.

"That's the best decision Old man. I swear that we won't do anything that could harm any of your people unless they did something to us first." Scythus said.

"Thank you, Sir Maximus. Please reconsider. You know Jay. We can't do such things. He's from the protection squad after all." I said and smiled at him.

"Alright. I..."

*BOOOOOOOOOM!* A loud noise coming from outside the City!

"What is going on?!" Drake rushed outside the Guild Hall and asked one of the guards.

"Sir! Spells were shot towards the city! It came from the Order of Light Army! Other guilds are also charging now! What should we do sir?!" The guard reported.

"What?! Are you sure?! Their guild leader is here and he can't possibly order them to attack us! Let's defend for now. d.a.m.n it Maximus! What is the meaning of this?!" Drake is upset about what is happening. I can't understand what is going on!

"I told them not to attack at all cost. Why on earth would they attack without my orders! I'll stop them. I'll be right back." In just a blink of an eye, Maximus disappeared from our sight.
