Idiot In Love -87 Chapter 29: Falling In Love

Yi Fei's mood was down for a few days. She did not watch her anime, she did not write her novel and she did not even watch a single video of Zhang Yixing. Wu Chen did not send her any message on QQ after their last conversation and Yi Fei a.s.sumed that Wu Chen must be busy settling whatever tasks before he left City L.

Bai Jing Ting saw that Yi Fei was down so he tried to cheer her up. "Do you have anything up this Friday night?" Bai Jing Ting was thinking about inviting Yi Fei for a movie.

"I have something going on this Friday. Why?" Yi Fei replied absentmindedly. She was a bit sad when Wu Chen told her that he will return to City K this weekend but she couldn't do anything about it. If she could, she wanted Wu Chen to stay in City L because her day was much happier with Wu Chen around.

But on what basis could she asked for him to stay when they were the only friend. She was not even sure if Wu Chen thought of her as a friend. It would be selfish of her to keep him in City L when his work and most of his life was in City K. Yi Fei got gloomier the more she thought about it.

"Where are you going?" Bai Jing Ting was honestly curious about Yi Fei's answer. Based on what he knew about Yi Fei, Yi Fei rarely went out at night without a partner so he deduced that Yi Fei must be going out with NaNa. The problem was, even NaNa rarely went out at night because she was afraid of the dark.

"Farewell party at Brother Wu Chen's house. He's returning to City K on Sat.u.r.day morning" Yi Fei did not even lift her face when he answered Bai Jing Ting's question.

Something clicked in Bai Jing Ting's mind. It became clear to him that Yi Fei was down because of Wu Chen. Bai Jing Ting tried to deny it but his little heart told him that there was something going on between Wu Chen and Yi Fei. He could see that Yi Fei was fixated on Wu Chen.

"Then you should send him with a smile. He is like a brother to you and Miss NaNa anyway" Bai Jing Ting stressed the word 'brother' so that Yi Fei will snap out from her crestfallen mood. He thought that it might be a good thing for him if Wu Chen returned to City K before the feeling between Yi Fei and Wu Chen could deepen.

He thought that everything will be alright for him if Wu Chen was not in the picture. He could pursue Yi Fei with ease.

Yi Fei and NaNa are the famous beauty duo in their school. Sometimes, the parents of the students in their school would introduce their children or relatives to both of them. Bai Jing Ting knew about some of the other guys who wanted to pursue Yi Fei but Bai Jing Ting was not worried about them.

They did not pose a threat to him because he thought that he was better than the rest. Not until Wu Chen came.

He knew that if Wu Chen went head-to-head against him, he couldn't even tell whether he could triumph over him. That was why he thought that it was a good thing for Wu Chen to return to City K. Bai Jing Ting patted Yi Fei's head and told her not to be sad too much. Yi Fei lifted her head and nodded.

On Friday, at 5 o'clock in the evening, Yi Fei and NaNa were standing in front of Wu Chen's apartment with a grocery bag in their hand. After they rang the bell, the door opened to reveal a dishevelled-looking Wu Chen. Wu Chen invited both of them to come in. NaNa straightaway plopped onto the sofa while Yi Fei went to the kitchen.

"Make yourselves at home, I am going to clean myself up" Wu Chen talked a bit before he entered his room. Both the girls just waved their hand to indicate that he should go clean himself up.

After showering and changing into a casual s.h.i.+rt and pant, Wu Chen went into the kitchen. NaNa pretended not to see him went to the kitchen. NaNa learned her lesson the last time.

Wu Chen walked slowly to the kitchen. He didn't make any sound so that he would not startle Yi Fei who was busy cooking in the kitchen. Wu Chen stood near the counter while looking at Yi Fei's back.

Yi Fei's fingers were swift when she chopped the vegetable. Today, her hair was up in a ponytail and Wu Chen could see the sweat glistening on her neck. He was tempted to walk over and wipe the sweat for her.

Sometimes, Yi Fei will blow her fringe because it obstructed her sight. Wu Chen remembered that last time, he tucked the hair behind her ears and Yi Fei blushed just because of it. He liked it too. If people knew that he had this kind of interest, they might call him weird. But it was the truth; he did not feel even a slight disgust when he touched her.

The thought made him sad. He was, after all, leaving City L to return to his usual life. At the same time, he wanted to stay in City L but he did not have any reason to stay. He knew that he was attracted to Yi Fei but he was not convinced that he loves her; heart and feeling could be deceitful at times.

He forgot how it feels when he was first in love with Li Wei. He did not remember how he realized his feeling at that time. It has been so long that his heart was not moved. He forgot how to fall in love.

While thinking about his feeling, Yi Fei turned off the stove, turned around and saw Wu Chen stood near the counter. She walked towards the counter, standing against Wu Chen with only the counter separating them.

"Brother, you're here" Yi Fei tried to be cheerful because being sad will make her feel more frustrated. Yi Fei gave a wide smile.

Wu Chen jolted out of his thought and came face-to-face with a smiling Yi Fei. He found himself falling in love after seeing her smiling at him - Falling through time and s.p.a.ce and stars and sky and everything in between. He realized that it was a pretty crazy thing.

A few years later, this was the exact moment that he described to his kids over and over again during bedtime stories of how he fell in love with their mother. His exact words were;
