Pokemon Pearl 14 Chapter 14 - The Lion Cub Pokèmon

But prior to his visit to Muñoz Town, Rico was given 10 Pokeb.a.l.l.s by Professor Campillo just after giving the Pokedex. Also, Rico had 16,410 Pokedollars as travel money to go anywhere. He also had a trainer's card given by Professor Campillo.

An hour later, after healing their Pokèmon, Rico and Wesley went to a field just outside of town for a friends.h.i.+p picnic. They brought a picnic basket filled with simple lunch and drinks. Once settled in, Rico laid out the picnic blanket he brought on the cool, green gra.s.s. Wesley then placed his basket on it. Once sat down on the textile blanket, they opened the basket, and get two sandwiches, freshly made by Lisa. They also had a few slices of chocolate and vanilla cake, freshly baked potatoes and biscuits, a bowl of green salad, and a bowl of apples and strawberries. Their drinks were water and orange juice. And as they eat, Wesley asked him, "So, what's your plans for being a Pokèmon trainer?"

"Oh, I haven't planned yet," Rico replied as he eats his sandwich.

"Okay," Wesley calmly replied as eats his slice of chocolate and vanilla cake, "Well, what about the Philas League? Do you want to join?"

"Oh, yes," Rico replied as he finished eating his sandwich and proceeds to eat the biscuits in a bowl, "That's my plan. If I got more than 6 Pokèmon and became stronger, then I'll partic.i.p.ate there."

"Wow, that's great," Wesley brightly replied as he drinks his bottle of orange juice, "You'll have my support then."

"Thanks, Wesley," Rico happily replied. He then grabbed the remaining biscuits from the bowl, but...

"Ah! Where's my biscuits?" Rico asked upon feeling that his biscuits had vanished, "I put them literally a few minutes ago."

"Maybe a wild Pokemon stole it," Wesley suggested, "That happens often here."

"Yeah, you're right," Rico replied as he thinks. And then, suddenly, they heard something's eating coming from the bushes. They then stand up, and go to where the sounds came from. Then, they cleared the bushes aside, and saw a Litleo, a Fire-and Normal-type Pokèmon, eating the said biscuits. Upon watching it, Rico asked his friend, "Who's that Pokèmon?"

"That's a Litleo," Wesley answered.

"A Litleo?" Rico replied; he then looked in his Pokedex. His Pokedex then responded, "Litleo, the Lion Cub Pokèmon, a Fire - and Normal - type. The stronger the opponent it faces, the more heat surges from its mane and the more power flows through its body."

Upon hearing it, Rico commented, "Wow, that's full of fire. I'm gonna catch that;" he then summoned one of his empty Pokeb.a.l.l.s. But he said that last sentence out loud, disturbing Litleo, who then, upon seeing them, became aggressive and hostile towards them, and used Ember on them. But luckily, the pair managed to dodge the wild Pokemon's attack, and that Litleo fled further into the forest, carrying the remaining stolen biscuits. Rico and Wesley then chased after it.

Later, at the deep green forest, the wild Litleo kept going deeper, eventually finished eating all of the stolen biscuits, and then, got lost even. Meanwhile Rico and Wesley are calling it, with their first Pokèmon out of their Pokeb.a.l.l.s.

"Where's that Litleo?" Rico asked while searching.

"I don't know," Wesley responded while searching in the bushes; their Pokèmon then responded in plain.

"But let's continue searching for it," Wesley seriously continued, "We can't give up now. You wanted that Litleo?" In response, Rico nodded in agreement.

"Good," Wesley replied, "Then continue the search."

"Okay then!" Rico replied with confidence; his Riolu and Wesley's Chimchar then responded in determination.

Meanwhile, the wild Litleo stopped walking, s.h.i.+vering in fear as the Pidoves and Starlys flew away from the trees. And then, suddenly, a Whimsicott, a Gra.s.s-and Fairy-Type Pokèmon, came to the scene, but it is not a friendly encounter. Then, there's the second one, then third, and then, now four Whimsicotts are surrounding Litleo. Litleo then flinched in fear, even though it was a Fire-Type. The Whimsicotts then used Moonblast on Litleo, but it was interrupted by Riolu and Chimchar, who immediately used Focus Blast and Ember, hitting the group effectively. Litleo then opened itself upon being rescued. And upon seeing the encounter, Rico asked, "Who's that Pokèmon?" He then looked in his Pokedex; the Pokedex then responded, "Whimsicott, the Windveiled Pokèmon, a Gra.s.s-and Fairy-Type, and the evolved form of Cottonee. Like the wind, it can slip through any gap, no matter how small. It leaves b.a.l.l.s of white fluff behind."

"Oh, that's cute," Rico commented upon hearing it; then to Riolu in seriousness, "Again, Riolu, use Focus Blast!"

"Chimchar, use Ember, again!" Wesley commanded Chimchar. Their Pokèmon then used the same moves as before, hitting the Whimsicotts very effectively. Almost being defeated, the Whimsicotts fled back into the forest in fear.

Running towards Litleo, Rico asked it, "Litleo, are you okay?" Litleo then responded with nodding.

"Wow, it looks great for rescuing it," Wesley brightly replied.

"Yeah," Rico replied. Then to the wild Litleo, "So, let's have a battle, Litleo." In response, Litleo looked at Riolu and responded with seriousness, "Lit-leo."

Later, at the field where they had their picnic, Rico had a battle with a wild Litleo using his Riolu.

"Okay, are you ready, Riolu?" Rico asked his Pokèmon.

"Ri-olu," Riolu responded.

"You can do it, Rico," Wesley cheered up, "Catch that Litleo!" His Chimchar then responded with cheering.

And then, the battle began; Litleo used Ember, attacking Riolu with small flames. But Rico immediately commanded Riolu, "Riolu, dodge it!" Riolu then dodged Litleo's attack.

"Then use Focus Blast!" Rico commanded Riolu. Riolu then used Focus Blast, heightening its mental focus and unleashed its power. But Litleo dodge its attack, and used Quick Attack, charging towards Riolu in a fast pace, striking it effectively.

"Then use Counter!" Rico commanded Riolu immediately. Riolu then used Counter, retaliating a punch-blow, striking Litleo out effectively.

"Quickly, catch it now!" Wesley exclaimed. Rico then threw his empty Pokeball towards Litleo, and shouted, "Go, Pokeball!" The Pokeball then hit Litleo, catching it by opening the inside of the Pokeball, and closed it, and fell to the ground; Rico then waited until the Pokèmon inside have intact in its Pokeball. At last, the Pokèmon had been successfully intact in its Pokeball. Having successfully caught a Pokèmon, Rico ran to pick up the Pokeball, and happily shouted while raising it up high, "Yes! I just caught a Litleo!" Riolu then jumped in with happiness. Wesley then ran to them, and commented, "Wow, now you had your second Pokèmon."

"Yeah, I can't believed that happened to me," Rico brightly replied as he holds Litleo's Pokeball, "Now I had my second Pokèmon."

"Well, it's okay," Wesley brightly replied, "I'm fine. I'll catch my own Pokèmon."

"Yes, okay," Rico brightly replied; Riolu then responded in happiness. They then became happy as the sun sets. They then went back to their picnic site, and finished their meal.
