Fox Tale Of A Dungeon Boss 4 Chapter 4: Beginnings

After awhile, I came back from the abyss of absolute despair.

"...so I'm a race that all of humanity wants dead?"

"...I'm gonna check out this place."

With that, I turned and walked towards the slightly open door. I pushed it open, and took in a breath of this new world.

All of the thoughts, exposition, and confusion fled my mind at the sight before me.

The shrine I had begun in was in the middle of a lake. It wasn't a big lake though, honestly more like a mix between lake or pond. The water was as clear as crystal, with not a thing in it, and the lake bed was made up of what appeared to be quartz, or some form of white crystal.

Around the small shrine was a walkway, a sort of porch without a fence, almost like a dock coming all around it. Extending from the door was a path to the sh.o.r.e. On the sh.o.r.e was a gra.s.sy plain, leaving a circle of s.p.a.ce with nothing but smooth gra.s.s, and wildflowers. Then there were many long rocks rising, encircling the area.

The shrine itself was supported by wooden stilts holding it just above water.

The appearance was almost that of fangs of rock rising from the ground, like a continuous lower jaw.

Leading from the wood pathway to the sh.o.r.e, continued a cobble stone path to an archway leading out of the rock circle.

"And so I would have to drag corpses into here?"

"So my job is to defend this area, protect myself, and raid the world at large for materials?"

Suddenly a white translucent screen appeared before me.

"Huh? h.e.l.lo? h.e.l.l-oooooh?"

I didn't get a response anymore. I looked at my menu, deciding to get familiar with what I had available. Plus the methods to NOT die were probably there.

"...that's a lotta racial talents there. Am I an OP protagonist? Please yes. I would like an easy life. Totally not in denial about impending death. Though I do wonder why my Soul Stat is so high? Is it cause I'm once dead... And totally won't be again... 100%. Also I expected something more like Str, Dex, etc... why isn't there an intelligence stat? Does that imply that one cannot just raise their natural intellect, but can raise their bodily strength in this world? Or is soul the star for intelligence? But if it's all balanced, why would intelligence be so much higher than the others, cause I KNOW I'm not that smart. Also am I 15? Pretty sure I was older than that..."

It was at this point I came to a decision:

I really need to stop talking to stop talking to myself, and that until I found a way forward, ignoring the blade hanging over my head was the best way to make sure I didn't drive myself crazy.

So it was I began my career as a Dungeon Boss.
