I went up another tower, as there was another treasure chest(again, not a mimic. Should I put mimics in my dungeon?), and I started thinking about how to handle this.

'Yeah I'd like a no-killing route as that Naga has got me feeling all kinds of bad about that.'

Then I got a sort of... a.s.surance from Shade. Huh?

He zipped over to the vessel, and I watched as he mixed his darkness with the poison embryos energy still within the blade.

'What the fu...?'

Then he zipped up, bits of darkness and poison elements held together in a small little cloud, which he released at the naga's on the tower.

(I only used the cloaking spell when a female Naga was nearby, and this time both were male.)

I watched as they breathed normally for awhile, as slowly they moved slower and slower, until one suddenly collapsed unconscious.

'...did Shade just make sleeping gas? Holy s.h.i.+t! Poison and draining of energy becomes sleeping agent. Noted.'

I feel like my spirit is going to easily show me how I should actually use this element, and is already more proficient with it than I.

To be fair, he is made of it though. But it is good for me, as I can easily understand everything he does and replicate it myself through a.n.a.lyze and our soul connection!

I swung up onto the tower, gingerly stepping around the sleeping Naga and heading down the stairs to the treasure chest.

I noticed they hadn't followed, so I popped my head up and waved at Luna and Fenrir to come on over.

After they also ended up in the treasure room, Luna asked "what? You want me to take this too?"

I shrugged. "I don't know what's in it, so not yet."

"Then why are we down here?"

I sighed, opened the chest, and looked inside.

Info: Stores up force through movement, and releases it in a punch when triggered by mana.>

'...mm? This sounds interesting.'

I put the small ring(in a way too big for it chest) on, and swung my arm around, watching as some ambient energy seemed to absorbed whenever the Ring was in motion.

'So it absorbs kinetic energy as I move? And releases it in a punch when I trigger it? I could probably end up creating a terrifying safety measure if I store enough force up over time.'

I nodded to myself, and headed to the stairs going further downwards.

'???' Luna was confused, realizing I was heading through the building now, which was why I'd called them down.

"Why are we down here?"

"The energy of the Smith is only detectable in the 2nd part of the fortress, so I'm heading to a safer bridge to get there. Hopefully we won't have to go all the way to the 3rd part, where the Dungeon Core is. That can wait, right now it's just too time consuming."

"Ah. I see." She nodded, and continued walking with her new spear at the ready.

As we came upon an intersection I hid us behind a pillar, using Mana grip to cling to it a few feet above Luna so we all fit back there.

I saw Fenrir also using his black-red mana to cling onto the ceiling just above me.

I had to try really hard not to laugh as the Minotaur and goblin-mixed squad walked by.

Have you ever seen a wolf hang upside down? It's hilarious!

His ears were so... so... STRAIGHT!

Hahahaha! What the heck! It's so goofy looking!

After the patrol went by, Fenrir smoke-dashed(that's what I'm calling the flying as a cloud of smoke thing now) to the ground, and sneezed a little as he shook his head.

'Oh my G.o.d that's adorable. I do wish Fenrir was the kind of canine you can pet. What am I kidding, let me pet yo~u!'

I, with sudden pa.s.sion, began to scratch Fenrir behind the ears, and he seemed to like it.

Luna just kinda stood there unsure of what she was supposed to do. '...why...right now?'

Eventually I got that energy out of my system and we kept going. We would have had to wait anyways for the 4 nagas up ahead to leave. They'd been on the opposite side of a door that'd we would be going through down that corridor, so the wait was worth it.

As we walked, I began to slowly hum the mission impossible theme.

"Duh-duh, dununaaaah, dununaaaah, dun, dun-dun-dun:dunaaaah!"

Luna shot me a clear look of 'wtf are you doing', but Fenrir just kinda bobbed his head to the beat. I don't think he would actually mind fighting our way out of here.

'Actually I'm pretty sure with my mana regen and how I could sneak attack with Spatial Rend, we could just a.s.sa.s.sinate every monster here. But that's not the point; the point is being able to live with myself.'

The other me popped out of his research part of our brain. 'Aren't our morals kinda skewed? If it's a goblin who smells bad, pull its Aggro and kill it like it's an NPC. If it's an annoying human b.a.s.t.a.r.d, murder him with full-force strength. Terrifying monsters within a Dungeon; "oh I can't hurt these poor innocents!" Do you find nothing weird about that?'

'Well... All morality is hypocritical. I've a.s.sociated with the monsters of this world within Dungeons, and know that even animals carry some slight sentience inside a Dungeon, though it's more just a gift given by the soul connection amplifying their thought-based capabilities. And I know the creatures here are smart cause they can use weapons, so I link them to those I trust and call friends.'

'Ahh... and b.a.s.t.a.r.d humans get linked to the guy who shot us, and our good for nothing brother who put us in debt.'

'Exactly.'

'I find it interesting that we don't a.s.sociate humans to mom at all. Actually, because of Luna and Touka, we seem to a.s.sociate people like mom with the Beastkin, despite Touka not technically being a Beastkin.'

I just kind of mentally shrug. 'I dunno man. That's just how it seems to be.'

'Hey let's fuse briefly before splitting again. I want to make sure both of us are constantly aware of the others circ.u.mstance, otherwise we might split into two separate personalities.'

So we came back together, and my memories reorganized to hold the experience of both points of view.

***

Luna stopped as she saw Kyoku freeze and clutch his head in pain as he grimaced.

"You okay?"

He nodded slowly. "Yeah, yeah. Just a mild-headache. I should do that at night when my brains shutting down so I can internalize long-experiences during sleep. Trying to stay awake is so painful..."

Luna just kinda stared. He spoke his thoughts aloud to himself more than he thought, but this was a bit weird without context.

"Were you messing around with soul abilities?" Luna ventured out a guess.

***

"Were you messing around with soul capabilities?"

I froze a little. Why do I get this bad feeling that if I reply honestly, Luna will totally a.s.sume I'm trying to read her mind and being a pervert? Ah yes, cause of the earlier incident.

I shook my head hastily, then stopped as I realized that would look more suspicious. Her eyes narrowed a little.

I force out a small grin and a nervous chuckle. "Ehehe... I was seeing if I could reach a bit farther in detecting something... overstretched is all."

I am not going into this 'giving myself schizophrenia intentionally' thing. Not now, not ever.

She nodded, a bit of suspicious doubt still visible on her face.

'Phew... that was close.'

I quickly split my mind into 2 again once my head stopped hurting, pus.h.i.+ng past a slight stabbing pain.

The pain was gone as soon as the split finished splitting, so I didn't pay it much heed.

As I looked up, the knowledge that R&D had given me into the functions of the two items we'd found astounded me.

I looked at Shade, a literally clump of living energy, and marveled at the complex manlines throughout him. 'Wow... I never got time to appreciate that as the adventuring me.'

I looked down at the ring, a plain, metal band, with small runic inscriptions along it.

'This however... it's a Spells construction, somehow placed into an item to take effect. The runes are there to stabilize it and allow function.'

I bent my head, thinking over every possibility I'd come up with as the researching me.

"All right. Hey Luna mind pa.s.sing me the spear for a sec?"

"Huh?" She was confused, but still handed it over without even getting an answer. Ah the trust between us!

'That's still a type of trust okay!'

I looked at the red gem on the spear.

"Hey Luna... is it okay if I change this spear to gather energy through movement and then you can release certain amounts as you wish as force? Fire isn't something your proficient in, right?"

"I... guess that's okay?" Luna felt very confused for rather obvious reasons, but I nodded happily and took off my ring, and swiftly used Spatial Rend to sever the red gem from the spear.

'What is he doing???'

Then I tried splitting my mana into the ring, and moved it, trying to push the mana to follow.

I softened the center steel and focused on the idea of hardening the outer steel as it stretched into a spear blade, runes still intact.

Pieces of 'code' swam in my eyes, that were really the pieces of the spell construct I was trying to modify this spear into.

The wood stretched out like taffy, a handle forming on one end as the runes from the blade were cut into the wood, and the spell construct was tampered, destroyed, and remade.

'Holy s.h.i.+t that took over 100 mana to change its shape and elasticity.'

I grabbed out some of the snake from earlier, stripping it's skin and scales before fusing the with the whip I was creating.

Then I proudly held it out to Luna, who stood there in shock.

"...y-you... can enchant. And use alchemy. What can you not do?!"

Hm? Alchemy?

Ah... changing atomic configuration, state of matter, and fusing two materials... yeah that's Tier-3.

Wait... I finally broke through Tier-3!

'AHAHAHAHA YES!'

'Boo yah!'

Both the me's cheered at this fact.

I handed it to Luna, and tried to explain.

"The scales go down the entire body, so it is about the tensile strength of a good steel. The blade is at the end for greater effect, and my a.s.sumption is that you can use a whip based on how instead of making Water Whip a 'floating in the air' spell, you insist on holding the water as a whip each time."

'He... noticed?'

"Now the cool part is what the enchantment does. Ever time the whip moves, it stores some kinetic energy, including impacts against it especially."

"Huh?"

"Ah yeah you don't know what that means... uh when you use it to block, it absorbs some of the impact so you feel less of it, and stores it as energy. Moving it around also builds up energy."

'And with how fast and much a whip moves...' I tailed off in my head, the other me taking over as I got distracted.

"You can feel how much force is stored by inputting your mana into it, and can trigger its release in small, controlled bursts, or great strikes."

Yeah... I think I just built a terrifying weapon now that I've thought about it.

It's a fast moving whip which quickly gains energy in use, and can then release it to shatter steel or people in a single strike. d.a.m.n.

Luna took it, infused some of her aqua colored mana into it, and I noticed the snake scales along the whip turning aqua as well.

Then I reached out, stopping her briefly, and took out one of the snakes fangs, fusing the venom by light and poison magic(G.o.d does having a blade with a large amount of it helps me figure out how to do that) into the blade, and nodded.

"All the wounds caused by it will have some slight poison energy already, so I'm just focusing it into the blade."

It was now an aqua blue-green snake-scaled whip, with a dagger blade of white bone and grey steel, runes carved into near every scale and all over the blade.

"Name it."

"Huh?"

Luna gave me a look. "All great enchanters name their creations. Name it."

I looked at it. '...I don't know if I'll be any good at this...'

I tilted my head to the side in thought.

'h.e.l.l hath no fury... like a woman scorned...'

'Oh. I see what you are thinking. Very well.'

I held my head up and smiled. "This whip is named Scorn."
