This was the first time in three years that Aker had taken a deep breath free of the oppressiveness of The Pit and free of the recycled and processed air of the s.h.i.+p.
As Aker filled his lungs with the air of the Dilnara Planet he suddenly felt his body feel full. He focused his attention and noticed that subconsciously he was drawing in all of the nature particles in the area around him.
While Aker was on the s.h.i.+p, he had to always try to draw the nature particles in as they were so spa.r.s.e in s.p.a.ce. Suddenly on Dilnara Aker's subconscious act of pulling in nature particles was causing him problems as his body was not capable of processing the particles fast enough. The nature particle density on this planet was even denser than they were in The Pit.
Feeling his Venas over saturating Aker immediately stopped drawing in the nature particles, took a few steps over to the side and sat down to focus on absorbing the nature particles his body had already taken in.
Seeing this young boy step off the s.h.i.+p, take a deep breath and then run over to the side and sit down drew the attention of a few people but mostly n.o.body cared what anyone did.
Aker who had been absorbing nature particles for the last seven months on the s.h.i.+p felt he had been able to draw in and absorb a significant amount and was advancing quickly. In reality he was, for someone on a long s.h.i.+p flight with no resources. However, compared to being on a planet with abundant nature particles Aker's rate of progression towards advancing to Source Core was relatively slow in comparison. Only after stepping off the s.h.i.+p and being bombarded by nature particles did Aker truly understand.
'If I had been on a planet with nature particles this dense for the last seven months I would have long finished absorbing into my deep skin, muscles, organs and bones months ago and would have already advanced to Source Core.'
Aker couldn't help but contemplate on the growth he would have had if he wouldn't have been on the s.h.i.+p for such an extended period and would have instead been on a planet such as this one. This fleeting though only lasted for a second as Aker came to another realization.
'If I was in a place that had denser nature particles, I would have been more focused on absorbing nature particles and might have missed out on my training in magical engineering, drawing and the dizi. If I think about how much I learned and was able to grow with those three skills, it seems to me it was a good enough trade off.'
Aker came to discover through his seven months of training with Vance every day that he enjoyed fighting, but he did not consider himself a battle addict. What Aker enjoyed was the feeling of freedom that improving his strength gave him. The feeling of growth as he moved and antic.i.p.ated the move of his opponent, forcing and being forced to quickly find its weakness and use a counter to try and exploit it.
Aker found that in all of his skills he could find gains that a.s.sisted him in his battles. Through the forge he is able to temper his body and muscles. Music and art helped to temper his mind and he found he was able to calm himself quicker and easier as he practiced both. Medicine, magical engineering and cooking pushed his mind and forced him to comprehend and experiment which allowed him to better understand the weapons in his hands.
The reciprocal proved true as well, as Aker fought battles, he gained inspiration that pushed his skills forward. As he understood the concepts of slow and fast, he was better able to design his funnel and conditioning system for the magic converter. As he practiced with his knife, he thought up new ideas of how to mince certain vegetables. As he screamed out as he attacked, he wondered what would happen if he added nature particles to his dizi as he played.
As Aker sat in the transfer yard off to the side on the planet he would be calling home for the foreseeable future he heard a sudden shout.
"No, you can't take her. I'll talk to my father, just give me one day and he will for sure be able to pay it back." The anguished cry of a mother rang out in the air, the sobs of helplessness drew Aker's attention.
As Aker looked over, he couldn't help but notice that out of the thousands of people in the general vicinity he was the only one bothering to look. A woman was crying out despairingly and it had no effect on anyone, as though this was a normal everyday occurrence and they couldn't be bothered with it.
As Aker's eyes took in the situation, he felt his heart beat quicken and without realizing what he was doing called out "What's going on? Who are you to be grabbing her arm?"
Aker watched as a grown man held Sarah by her arm and was trying to drag her away. Sarah's mother was on the floor screaming and crying begging for them to stop.
The mother laid down on the ground in front of a young man no older than twenty who was dressed in exorbitant clothing. His combat robe had a mult.i.tude of colors but were primarily green, purple and orange. While normally those three colors would clash and never look as if they belonged together, somehow the extreme quality of the material they were made out of forced them to blend splendidly. As Aker stared at that combat robe, he couldn't imagine it being any other colors than what it was.
From head to toe this young man wore exquisite and refined clothing, his hair was meticulous and even his fingernails seemed to be manicured perfectly.
"Who in this place dares speak to this young master, everyone in this city knows the rules. Only I am allowed to speak to people, no one is allowed to speak to me. Someone quickly go teach whoever it was that spoke out the consequences of ignoring the natural order of the world."
The young master disdained all lower-cla.s.s people of the universe. He didn't hate them, that would mean that he had to have some feeling for them. No, he simply found them no different than a dog, they had their purpose and unless they were specifically told to do something, they should obediently wag their tale and wait for instruction.
"I don't know who you are and I don't really care either, I just want to know why your trying to take her away." Aker spoke calmly despite the disparaging remarks from the well-dressed young master. His voice didn't contain any frustration or anger that is typical of hot-blooded youths when someone spoke down to them.
The young master hearing the calm tone of voice and taking in the boy who didn't seem to care about his status only riled him up further.
"This kid should have just apologized and started minding his own business. Even though young master Clyde Logan will never let him off, at least his beating wouldn't cause any serious injuries. Now that he has continued to talk back, that kid would be lucky if he doesn't end up crippled." A small mouse of a man spoke in a whisper, his voice squeaked which seemed to be exactly what one would expect as they looked at him.
"Coming down here to the transfer yard and picking up people who just got back who had failed to pay and putting them to work in the mines is what young master Clyde enjoys doing most in his free time. Everyone knows the Logan family will pay the fee for the people to come to Dilnara and require them to pay back the loan with interest within six months. Often times the interest will start out small but it suddenly hikes up and makes it impossible to pay back. They use secret clauses and other tricks that common people aren't able to understand and catch. And yet so many people still fall for it, it really is a conundrum."

Aker listened as the people around him whispered and spoke about the despicable practices of this young master and his family.
Aker who had protected this mother and child on the s.h.i.+p had been spending a considerable amount of time with Sarah as they traveled to Dilnara. Most days she would come into Aker's room in the mornings and watch as Aker and Vance fought for hours on end. She would simply sit there and not say a word as she took in the movements of both of them. After she had watched Aker and Vance off and on for a couple of months, she picked a small short sword and began practicing the moves off to the side.
At first Aker just lopsidedly smiled to himself, but as the days turned into weeks and the weeks turned into a month Aker concluded that she was serious about her training. He would sometimes catch her around the s.h.i.+p practicing Aker's moves by herself.
Seeing her determination and will Aker began to guide her in the use of the sword. He started by teaching her the basic moves that Vance taught him which she practiced every day for months and months. Recently Aker had begun showing her how to combine moves such as blocking and attacking or dodging and attacking.
He didn't per se take her as a student but they had spent a considerable amount of time together in the last six months. He couldn't just watch someone handle her roughly and take her away to the anguished cries of her mother.
The entire time Sarah did not make a peep, her eyes had been fixated on Aker the whole time as if antic.i.p.ating him taking action. When Aker called out asking them what they were doing she let a small sigh. After Aker had saved her and her mom Sarah looked up to Aker as an invincible force. In her small eyes he was a savior and someone she could trust.
The young master's eyes were now burning red, his anger was visible to everyone in the vicinity. No one dared look in the direction of Clyde for fear that they would get swept up along with Aker.
Aker who was ignorant to the rules of the universe stared the young master in the eye not even bothering to stand up. From the perspective of Clyde this was humiliation after humiliation. In a matter of seconds this nameless boy had questioned his authority, spoke to him from a seated position, and stared him down in front of the entire transfer yard. If Clyde didn't do anything to Aker at this point the reputation he spent ten years building up that would cause the common man and woman to s.h.i.+ver in freight at the mere mention of his name would become a joke.
"Beat him and bring him with us, he can go to the mines as well!" Clyde called out to the other servant standing at his side.
Without another word the other servant standing behind this young master ran at Aker who was still sitting on the floor. Without any warning or any type of conversation the servant lunged at the sitting Aker with his fist trying to hit Aker in the face.
The servant's actions suggested either the didn't have any experience in actual fighting or he viewed Aker as to weak and insignificant to care about putting in the effort.
As Aker watched this servant move, he felt that the time it took for him to cover the ten meters was an eternity. Aker watched step by step as this under twenty-year-old servant who was also wearing exotic and priceless clothes inched closer to him.
Once this servant finally reached Aker who had a dumbfounded look on his face because the young master was grinning ear to ear as he was taking in what was happening, Aker started to make his move. Aker couldn't help but think 'is it that funny that his servant moves so slow?', Aker couldn't understand why the young master was so happy.
Out of reflex Aker leaned forward onto one hand and did a forward cartwheel, he timed it perfectly as his legs traveled over his head and as they came down the bottom of his foot smashed squarely on to the top of the servant's head.
Aker who had already advanced through all five levels of Body Conditioning and was now in uncharted territory had to be careful of his strength that he didn't break this servants' necks by accident.
Even holding back his strength to a minimum, upon Aker's foot pounding his head the servant immediately fell to the ground as if he was imitating a bag of falling rocks and he was bound to be the winner. The servant didn't even have a chance to be surprised or to feel any pain before he was sliding across the ground unconscious.
The young master who witnessed the whole ordeal was now flabbergasted. Never in a million years would he have thought that someone would be brazen enough to actually fight back. It simply had never happened before and he had never even considered a scenario in which it would have been possible.
Aker who landed on his feet stood upright and tall and looked over to the young master still maintaining his calm demeanor and att.i.tude as he asked "It shouldn't be any problem if I pay her debt should it?"
In truth Aker didn't have any understanding of the currency in the universe or really even the concept of money. He did understand that when he fought in The Pit people would bet on him to win or lose but that was as far as his understanding went.
He only offered to pay as Vance had mentioned that they had enough money that it wouldn't be a concern while they were here. Since that was the case, whatever little bit of money it cost to move Sarah to this planet shouldn't be a big deal.
Little did he know or understand the concepts of interest and the racket that Clyde's family was running.
"Hahahahahahaha.....you want to pay of her debt? That is brilliant, then let me ask you, who is going to pay off your debt? Since you spoke back to me, questioned me and even attacked my servant you'll spend the rest of your short life in my mines. Don't worry I'll show up there from time to time to laugh at you to help you remember that in your next life you should keep your mouth shut and remember your place!"
Aker shook his head and thought 'I couldn't believe what master said back then but it's already happened. These people who feel ent.i.tled will kill and punish for no reason at all. Just for asking a question he wants to throw me in the mines, humiliate me and kill me.'
As Aker considered Clyde's words he felt anger and annoyance at this pathetic att.i.tude. He shook his head and whispered to himself "If he is so angry about me beating his servant I wonder what his face will look like after I'm done with him?"
