While the mermaid princess stepped downward, the silhouette of the faint silver glow slowly dissipated from the altar, reverting to the silver flame. Consequently, mermaids and merman alike, uniformly raised their head, to then glance behind them.

Unlike the first time, they had a newfound respect for Anila, who respectfully maintained her distance, to show respect for their prayer. Additionally, she brought down the thin magic barrier coating around her, to show her humbleness as a mortal. Especially after they saw the divine water was resonating with her. Anila's eyes become bluer than the sea, while her hair slowly flowed from the soft water current.

"Your eyes turn blue upon contact with water?"

Anila gently arched her lips, dismissing her curiosity, rather asking her a question of her own, "when will your mother come back?

The mermaid princess didn't mind at all thus respectfully answered back. "My mother left in haste, following an earth-shattering event six years earlier, thus leaving the maritime border protection to me, including those sea deity stones to a.s.sist me. Considering the informational suppression of the event, moreover, her meeting the clans' higher-ups, surely something serious is proceeding. Before she departed, mother said she may not come back here again."

Seeing Anila clenching her fist, the rift within her eyes, princess realized she somehow must be part of it, though respecting her personal matter, she didn't inquire further.

Proudly bearing a silver armor, a mermaid within the crowd screamed at Anila noticing her turn furious, "we have an agreement with the Throne Restorers and other tribes on the surface, thus you are not to cross into the Night Pearl Place."

The mermaid princess hands itched to knock out the mermaid for being idiotic, yet, she held herself noticing Anila talk again.

"Allow your mind to attain peace, I take no part in any such factions. I merely came expecting to encounter a mermaid queen, to spar with. Without knowing, she had departed for an important meeting. Please excuse me for barging in, I will leave right away."

Immediately covering her face in embarra.s.sment, the princess bowed down, "Senior, please forgive us for the feeble reception, and allow us to know if there are any ways we can be of any a.s.sistance to you?"

Seeing the proud princess bow down, Anila halted in surprise.

At the same time, far away from the sea, within Rais's house, a cracking sound escaped out the window. Rais sleeping soundly felt the gusty, harsh wind against his face after waking up amidst a forsaken place. Unable to move a muscle, his entire body ached with unbearable pain.

Although Rais's vision blurred from the dusty, hazy surrounding, he remembered someone lying beside him, experiencing even greater torment. Regardless, he remained unsurprised because this particular feeling, stayed close to his heart since he had been in this place before numerous times. Moreover, from such an early age, he forgot his earliest days of experiencing it. Despite not understanding why he had such realistic visions, it felt like he actually experienced this before, but he could never remember.

Agonizing waves of pain continuously stabbed him, causing him to crave, crave to rip apart his body and soul to pieces to ease the pain. Nevertheless, he found ways to take control of his consciousness before, moreover imagined destroying his corporeal body to get out of this torment.

Although he found ways to take control of his consciousness, even though he found the means to leave this misery, he persevered, since Rais always desired to catch a glimpse of the body resting next to him.

Despite perceiving the incoming failure, he sought to turn his head; consequently, he couldn't breathe anymore, as his lungs began withering. Incessantly, his blood rushed in the opposite direction, Rais' body gradually became engulfed with fierce, corrosive flames, Rais felt needles stabbed through his eyes, while he maniacally screamed in agony.

Every trace of his body withered away into nothingness while it reformed once again, Rais could take it no longer since he imagined himself getting pierced with thousands of arrows that arrived soaring through the horizon.

Henceforth laying on an incline of a gra.s.sy field, under the shade of a branching mango tree, Rais relaxed his mind. Despite failing to control his body again, his body moved on its own as he made no attempt to alter its course. Soul calming breeze accompanied by ever curving river made the experience feel like home. Despite his eyes being closed, he remained satisfied as he preferred it this way.

The weak rays of the sun, reaching through the branches, created a tad of burn on his skin, while waves of arousal coursed through his body. After settling his hands on his eyes, it became wet while Rais noticed his hands were covered with bruises and blisters. Although unsure why he was crying, Rais knew he completed his training for something.

When he heard his heartbeat in total silence, Rais knew, he was about to leave this place, his home, his heart ached with longing, he felt reluctant to leave. Nevertheless, Rais felt bone freezing coldness stream through his body, the tears within his eyes became frozen, staying frozen for a long, long time.

Remaining frozen for thousands of years, he eagerly waited for freedom, while darkness merged with him, while only silence accompanied him. Next, once he regained his consciousness, he noticed a golden spear soaring through the horizon, piercing through his abdomen, while blood poured down.

Nevertheless, he didn't look forward at his attacker, instead; he turned back, taking his last glance at thousands with black wings, arising to protect him though failing to reach him in time.

"I'm sorry."

While he tried to remember their faces, he detected someone apologizing within his head. Rais lost his composure, despite him having similar visions numerous times, this time, the first time he heard someone say anything. Once again, he heard another noise, noise of chains dragging against a hard surface.

He didn't know what triggered the change, but when he woke up, there were marking all over his right arm.

After noticing blood trickling down his old injury, while continuing stinging pain accompanied it, he stared at one of the runes covering the red pendant, completely destroyed. Although a drop of blood dropped towards the ground, it became ice dust before reaching the ground. After leaving sleeping Silver Descent on the bed, Rais opened the window to see if his mom was on the roof cultivating since he never noticed her sleep.

After opening the window, a current raced through his body, Rais could clearly see everything outside similar to a cloudy day, he observed black smoke floating throughout the world. His mom previously described what she saw, Rais knew he was witnessing the yin energy curtain, though he didn't know how he could view so clearly without learning.

Noticing tiny diamonds shaped winged creatures continuously flying within the woods, Rais realized these unusual things created those twirl within the yin curtain, moreover; he glanced around to see tiny lesser spirit creatures hovering around. He only ever saw spirits in ill.u.s.tration, while for the diamond-shaped creatures, he didn't know what they were.

Within the darkness, his eyes shone like a piece of amber crystal, Rais looked in the distance, while they lost their l.u.s.ter. Although he became excited, it didn't last very long since everything returned to darkness as his eyes lost its radiance.

"It must be related to the sound of the chain," Rais convinced himself.

Consequently, he saw his black marking spreading from the right hand to other parts of his body. His body started burning, he looked towards his neck and saw two of the four carved runes within the necklace destroyed. His heart jolted, moreover; he felt some changes within his body.
