SORCERESS 101 258 Guardians

Looking around them, the group looked for the possible guardian stationed at this exit, but they don't see any.

"Does it work like a fairy ring as well??"

Long Yue asked to no one in particular. Although he and Long Fuzi used to study at Magus Academia a year prior to them,  it was also their first time coming to this place.

After all, there is nothing eventful that happened in their past year. In fact, there is really nothing worth mentioning in their first year at Magus Academia.

It was only at this time after they met with their newfound friends that their life started to turn a lot more exciting and livelier.

"I don't think that is the case. There must be a guardian somewhere. Don't you think its a bit neglectful of the school if they will leave one exit fully unguarded??"

"Indeed. It won't make sense if this exit does not have a guardian as well. Considering that the fairy ring does not have a guardian already. This portal should at least have one."

Mu Lingxi and the others discussed among themselves. But before they could come up with their deduction, Yun Xue beckoned to them.

"Let's just worry about that later. Why don't we take a look around the place and check what we can find out?"

As he said that, he walked ahead of the group and take closer to the stone formation.

The group knows what they have to do, and that is just exactly what Yun Xue had told them. So they followed their friend's lead without any question.

Yun Xue went straight on observing the ma.s.sive blue rocks that were built in a circular formation. Mu Lingxi and the others did the same.

Since this megalithic structure is the most prominent figure in the place, then there is a high chance that the portal is somewhere within this stone formation as well.

'Kacha! Kacha!!!'

When the group stepped within the circle created by the stone formation, a violent storm started to brew.

An ominous bank of dark clouds gathered in the area within the circular formation of megalithic structure. Followed by the successive appearance of several bolts of lightning from the sky.

Before Mu Lingxi and her friends could even process what was happening, the ground below them started to rumble furiously as if an intense earthquake had struck the area.

Following this, the ma.s.sive blue stones rose up from the earth. To their surprise, the stone formation as they thought it was is not exactly a simple megalithic structure.

One by one, the big blue stones started to rose from their feet as if a man waking up from its deep slumber causing a cloak of dust to drift in the area.

The big blue stones do not have any distinctive facial feature but it has both upper and lower extremities just like a man.

These anthropomorphic blue stones have the height of two men combined and it stood towering over the group.

Sensing no hostility coming from the group of anthropomorphic blue stones, the group reckoned that this could very much likely be the guardians of this exit.

Aside from that, after observing the ma.s.sive blue stones that stood towering before them, the group notice that there is a piece of yellow paper that sticks on each of the head of the anthropomorphic blue stones.

With a b.l.o.o.d.y red ink, a big word that says 'GUARD' was inscribed on each of this talisman-like paper.

Upon reading what was actually written on the paper, the group can't help but blinked their eyes.

"MEOW"

[Well, at least the guardians of this place knows how to use an ID card. Though it would have been much better if they used a name tag instead to make it personalize.]

"I see, so it is not a stone formation at all, but rather a group of resting Golem."

Fan Lei said as recognition dawn in his face. 

A golem is an animated creature that has been constructed via magic as a servant or protector for the person who created it.

The body of a golem is normally constructed from a single raw material, such as rock or clay. These creatures are usually unintelligent, mindless ent.i.ties and cannot act on their own.

They also will not obey anyone other than the person who created them.

Golems are made by molding the material in the shape the golem is desired to be, most of the time being humanoid, but animal-shaped golems aren't unheard of.

After that, a ceremony is held to bring the golem to life, which involves writing the word, 'life' on its forehead.

Though the golems before them looked a little tweak. Because instead of the word 'life', the word 'guard' is written on its forehead instead.

The golem is no different from an automaton, it mindlessly follows instructions and will continue to do what it is told until it is told to stop.

Each day they grow to be a little bigger and a little stronger. Considering the ma.s.sive size of the blue stones before them, it was safe to say that these golems had been created for a long time now.

The only way to destroy a golem is to erase the word 'life' on its forehead and replace it with the word 'death'.

Maybe, for this reason, the word written on the forehead of the guardian golems is tweaked into "GUARD' so that no one can easily deactivate them.

Mu Lingxi and the rest of the group is no fool either. Although they were initially startled by the sudden appearance of the anthropomorphic blue stones, they too soon realized that this group of ma.s.sive blue stones are the guardians stationed at this portal.

The group bowed their heads to show their respect towards the guardians. After that, they flash their magic emblem signifying their ident.i.ty as the students of Magus Academia

"Good day our dear guardians. We are student warlocks from Magus Academia and we wish to leave the place to conduct a school mission. May we ask for your a.s.sistance to send us out of here?"

Fan Lei asked politely to the guardians. But instead of answering his question, the group of Golems slowly raised their right hand all at the same time and pointed at the sapphire studded stone altar.

The synchronized action of the golems kinda looked creepy, to say the least. When the group saw the weird behavior of the golems, they all looked at Fan Lei who triggered such reaction from the guardians.

Slapping his forehead, Fan Lei said with an exasperated sigh.

"What is with me today??? What am I even thinking of asking them directly? Of course, they can not answer me because golems are incapable of speech!"

He looked at his other friends before continuing.

"It seemed that the guardians were telling us to go at the stone altar. Let us head over there."

After saying that, Fan Lei took the lead and walked closer to the stone altar. The sapphire studded stone altar has a blue light halo shrouding it.

But it was barely visible amid the cloak of dust drifting in the area.

Walking up to it, Fan Lei stretched his hand to reach for it and touched it lightly. As soon as his hand reached the blue light halo, it immediately expanded and envelope their bodies.

The next instant, Mu Lingxi and her friends suddenly felt an intense falling sensation as the world flew past them, disappearing in a flash.

When the brilliant flash of light finally dissipated, the group found themselves sitting in a big rock beside a waterfall with their body drenched with water.
