CHAPTER 309: LIFE EXTENSION RESEARCH

It has been over a decade already since Schoolmaster Yin's clandestine past was made known by another soul.

Because he always made it sure to put every single person who learned about his dark secret in silence. Including the only woman that he loved the most.

Unbeknownst to anyone, not even to his closest friend, that Schoolmaster Yin is actually a pract.i.tioner of the forbidden art of Necromancy.

Others would have thought that he was just touching the basics of soul arts out of curiosity. But the truth is, this was his field of specialty.

He had been learning the art of Necromancy since he was a child

And he never stopped studying it. Even after he got abolished in his practice of Necromancy, while he was still in his apprentices.h.i.+p period.

Yin Shun, or more commonly known as Schoolmaster Yin is just like any other normal warlocks before. During his time, Necromancy is not yet a forbidden practice.

In fact, Necromancy was the most lucrative way of learning magic back then.

Because necromancers were highly sought, due to their unique ability to communicate with souls and bridge the worlds of the dead and the living.

It was for this same reason, that the young Yin Shun was enticed into studying Necromancy.

So at the young age of nine, he already started his apprentices.h.i.+p.

The young Schoolmaster Yin was hard to come by genius during his time. He really had a knack in the art of Necromancy.

As such, he was able to make a reputation for himself even before he became an official necromancer.

Which in result,  attracted more attention towards him.

Many admired him for his talents back then. But of course, admirers and haters always come hand in hand.

So if the young Yin Shun had many admirers back then, it only goes to say that he also had the same number of haters.

During his last year of apprentices.h.i.+p, a necromancer plotted against him.

That necromancer deliberately told the young Yin Shun about an ancient domain. He thought that once the young Yin Shun went to that place, it will be his end.

As expected, the young Yin Shun went to the said ancient domain.

But instead of meeting a misfortune, he ended up having a chance encounter with a talking oak tree that was hidden in that ancient domain

This was the same talking oak tree that was now serving as one of the school guardians at Magus Academia.

Schoolmaster Yin planted him in the middle of the Enchanted Forest during his inauguration as the new schoolmaster of the school

From the talking oak tree, Schoolmaster Yin learned about an old prophecy regarding the end of the world.

Being young and wild, Schoolmaster Yin really had a very adventurous nature. So he instantly developed an affinity towards the talking oak tree as soon as he met it.

Especially because he can learn a lot of secrets from the talking oak tree which in return made him more powerful.

But the more he became powerful, the more he craves for more. Until it slowly became his obsession.

Before he knew it, he was already addicted to the pursuit of power.

From there, he started furthering his knowledge hoping to discover a way on how he could defy heaven.

He wanted to be the most powerful warlock to exist in this world.

But knowing that he would be limited by his mortal life, Schoolmaster Yin started to focus first in developing a magic spell that can help him prolong his life.

That is when and he started his research about 'life extension'

But it was also at that time that  Schoolmaster Yin's life started to turn upside down.

Right before he could say goodbye to his apprentices.h.i.+p and become a full pledge necromancer, he finally perfected his research about life extension.

It was through using someone else lifeline and putting it to another person to extend its life.

Lifeline pertains to the lines that can be seen in one's palm.

As someone whose specialty lies in soul arts, necromancers had the ability to estimate how long a man can live.

All they have to do is to have a look at one's palm, and they can already read it from there.

In Schoolmaster Yin's research of 'life extension', he was able to perfect a black spell that will allow him to transfer one's life to someone else.

It was through the means of utilizing those 'lifelines' and putting it to another person

To conduct this so-called 'life extension' he must first require a living 'donor' of the lifeline.

Then using a sharp dagger, he will have to literally carve out those lifelines from his donor. While chanting a specific black spell that he invented.

Then after taking the lifeline from his donor, he will have to sew it to his 'recipient'. In which, the recipient has to be someone who was close to dying.

After that successful b.l.o.o.d.y operation, the remaining life of the donor will be sucked out from its body and it will be transferred to the recipient.

Creating the impression that the life of the recipient had been extended.

Imagine how many lives had been used as a guinea pig before Schoolmaster Yin was able to perfect this research of his.

It was precisely for this reason, that Schoolmaster Yin was expelled from studying the art of Necromancy.

Many had condemned his action of taking someone else's life as a mere subject for his research.

They view that Schoolmaster Yin's life extension research as a depraved act and it should not be pa.s.sed down to later generations.

That is why Schoolmaster Yin was the first apprentice necromancer to get expelled in the history of necromancers.

He had been shamed because of that incident. From being a proud genius, he was looked down and was treated no better than a spit.

But this actually works to his advantage.

Because right after he was abolished from his apprentices.h.i.+p, the Great War of Magi broke out which in the end resulted from the annihilation of the entire pract.i.tioners of Necromancy.

At the same time, Necromancy became a forbidden practice.

Everyone who was seen practicing anything related to necromancy was being sentenced to death.

Necromancers partic.i.p.ated in the Great War of Magi but they joined hands with the creatures of the dark. In the end, they were defeated.

The sorceresses and warlocks that partic.i.p.ated in that war, saw how the necromancers utilized vile methods of using soul arts and summoning the dead to fight with them

They also witnessed the depraved act of life extension. Because most of the necromancers that joined the war during that time support Schoolmaster Yin's research.

Life extension plays a vital role in why the new mage community decided to obliterate the necromancers once and for all.

Little did they now that the actual proprietor of that wicked magic spell is still set on a loose and was not punished in the least.

The young Yin Shun tried his best to hide his ident.i.ty as an apprentice necromancer which does not seem to be hard for him.

Considering that he was able to hide this secret up until now and he even became a well-respected figure in the mage community

More than that, he was also able to make a name for himself and become one of the princ.i.p.als of a prestigious school of magic. Which is the Magus Academia.
