What Derik said was true, although Kalos and Kuen were two top tier masters who possessed powerful cosmic spirits, their abilities were only supportive and the lacked proper offensive techniques. If they had a powerful offensive mage or warrior on their team, Derik would never be able to resist their combined strength. But this time, luck was on Derik's side.

The six members of team Gyro were occupied by the undead slaves and the demonic werewolf, so they couldn't lend Kalos and Kuen a hand. In fact, these people were put in a disadvantaged position and would most likely fall soon. It was only a matter of time…

Meanwhile, Derik's aura lost all form of normalcy in it and completely became strange to anyone who felt it. The darkish purple aura changed and took the form of a crimson red tidal wave that could not harm anyone directly, but once it makes contact with an intended foe, the pain and anger buried in their hearts will rise and they will lose control and act more recklessly.

Soon more than half of the capital was covered by the red mist and the eyes of all the military forces present turned bloodshot. They argued amongst each other and in less than thirty seconds, battles broke out between members of the military force. Even the commanders and other high ranking officials were affected by this ability and they ended up blaming each other for being unable to deal with the elder prince and soon they began attacking each other fiercely

Within the red mist was a small unaffected s.p.a.ce where Kalos and Kuen stood. Both cosmic spirit hosts gathered their powers as they erected multi-layered spiritual barriers with their aura! As Kuen viewed the chaos happening below them his heart sank and his face turned pale. He witnessed the war between the members of the adventurers a.s.sociation and the members of the military force! Back then he felt that the battle was already gruesome but compared to what he was looking at right now, it all looks like child's play!

Kuen immediately felt grateful that Kalos had warned him just in time before the red mist got to him, giving him enough time to defend himself. The battle below raged on and the members of the adventurers a.s.sociation, with the elder Prince Gerald, stood aside and watched their enemies slaughter each other. Seeing such a demonic ability they finally realized why the world has always been fearful of the death mage and why they have always joined hands to kill off the hosts of the various guardian spirits just before they make it to the gold realm!

An ability capable of drawing out the rage in a person's heart and amplifying it to a level where they lose control of themselves and begin murdering indiscriminately is no small thing. Seeing this for the very first time, even Derik's allies were terrified and began questioning their decision of joining hands with the death mage! Truly, they prayed that this man will not turn his back on them when this is over. If they could keep someone like this in Gyro, who would dare attack or offend them?

"Now everyone! Destroy the barrier that protects the royal palace… once it falls, Gyro is ours!" Gerald snapped out of his chain of thoughts fairly quickly and soon dished out orders. His body was engulfed in scorching red flames as he stormed towards the barrier and attacked it. In less than five seconds, hundreds of thousands of people including the army of the dead joined hands to attack the spatial seal formation!

Even though the barrier is st.u.r.dy enough to withstand a.s.saults from low-level gold realm masters, the sheer numbers of Derik and Gerald's forces were terrifying and soon visible web-like cracks began to appear on the barrier!

"We have to stop them!" Kuen said with fearful eyes as he battled to keep his own side of the barrier running. He knew if the barrier fell, only death would follow. There is no way his father, King Robert would survive to see the sunlight of the next day!

"Your father has done so many despicable deeds but my oath as kingdom guardian compels me to protect him even when I know he's wrong… if I had my free will now, I probably would have avoided this battle entirely… d.a.m.n those magic oaths!" Kalos cursed in Kuen's presence for the first time with a frown on his face.

"You're trying to say my father actually tried to kill the death mage because of our little disagreement years ago? Something that little? He told me the death mage turned against the expedition troops in the dungeon and betrayed this kingdom!" Kuen argued

"He told you that, didn't he? Hehehehe! He did try to murder the death mage since he felt the youth has no background and will be easily forgotten in a few months after his death… unfortunately, his attempt was unsuccessful…. Now the death mage is back for vengeance… if I had my free will I would have presented that rotten man you call your father to him and let him die… He's responsible for all those who lost their lives in this war! Yet he still hides in the royal palace shamelessly!... It doesn't matter what he does, he can't escape death today… neither can I…. I'll do my own part as the kingdom guardian and leave the rest to the death mage!" Kalos said and he began urging his spatial powers!

Instantly a galaxy of stars, three times the size of the normal ones Kalos normally summoned appeared above the clouds and tore open a ma.s.sive portal to an unknown dimension! Its powerful suction force forcibly dragged the red mist up and in less than three seconds, all the red mist that was spread across the capital had been cleared and everyone regained their sanityWails and cries filled the air as those who survived the chaos caused by Derik's sin or wrath technique were broken down mentally. They had bathed in the blood of their loved ones and for some unknown reason, the images of their actions kept flas.h.i.+ng through their eyes, shattering their chain of thoughts and making it hard for them to concentrate. The man whom they have been fighting for all these while was obviously the reason for the calamity, yet this man remained hidden in the safety of the palace and refused to honor their dead by leading them into battle. They may have called Gerald a traitor but at least the man has the courage to fight alongside his loyal comrades! That's what makes a man a true leader!

Meanwhile, their own king hide and their future queen was hiding as well.

How could they let Gyro be ruled by cowards!

Why did they even fight against the elder Prince? He was only taking what belongs to him!

Why did they even fight against the death mage? He was only trying to get justice for the cruel deeds of the king, his daughter and the useless n.o.bles of the Gyro kingdom!

Biting his lips, Commander creed of the Gyro military force let out a defining roar as he grabbed onto his magic broadsword and dashed towards the spatial seal formation protecting the palace.

He finally understood what he should have done from the very beginning!

Whom he should have been fighting for!

The Gyro kingdom cannot continue this way!

It needs a new leader!

A competent one at that!

"Robert! Come out you b.a.s.t.a.r.d coward and face me!" Creed roared like a ferocious beast and he turned into a beam of light and shot forward!

His ma.s.sive broadsword shook greatly and silver aura surrounded the commander, taking the shape of a bull before smas.h.i.+ng into the barrier!

Seeing the commander act, the other military officials who harbored the same thoughts but were too afraid to show it, picked up courage and bombarded the spatial seal formation with numerous spells! Soon the military force and the adventurers a.s.sociation joined hands and bombarded the barrier!

The longer the barrier lasted, the more their hate and anger grew because this simply showcased how much resources were poured into the barrier just to keep the Royal family safe!

The military force of a kingdom was unable to defeat a mere adventurers guild, this was just too shameful! The resources meant to be used to build and acquire more powerful pieces of equipment to improve the overall strength of the military have been wasted on the king's talentless daughter just to increase her strength and make her worthy of taking the throne! Completely neglecting the contributions of the elder Prince to the kingdom!

Within the royal throne room, king Robert, Anna and the other n.o.bles of the Gyro kingdom wore ugly expressions on their faces. They understood that their lives have just come to an end the moment the kingdom itself turned against them. King Robert began to wonder what that red mist did to the people to make them instantly change their opinions about him.

Robert glared at John and Linda with murderous intentions and before he turned his attention to the ma.s.sive orb of water from which he watched everything that was happening and spoke in a surprisingly calm tone.

"We still have Kalos, a gold realm master and my son Kuen a silver realm expert… they both possess the power of the cosmic spirits! As long as they kill the death mage, the others can be subdued easily!" King Robert said with a firm and a.s.suring voice. It sounded as if he was trying to a.s.sure himself that he will survive this situation!

Meanwhile, Kalos left Kuen behind after asking him not to get himself involved any further and approached Derik. His pitch-black eyes were fixed on Derik who was seated in a cross-legged position in mid-air like a statue. He remained so stiff that Kalos began to wonder if this kid was actually breathing. After waiting for ten to twenty minutes, Derik's eyes yanked open and a terrifying pressure came with it, making Kuen retreat fearfully!

"Congratulations… You just had a breakthrough… the peak grade of the silver realm in less than a decade… you are a prodigy, young Derik" Kalos praised Derik with an honest smile on his face.

Hearing this Derik frowned. He failed to understand why the kingdom guardian is ignoring the military and Adventurers who are trying to bring down the spatial seal formation and he even went as far as to allow him breakthrough into a higher realm! Even though the three undead slaves and his demonic werewolf avatar were currently surrounding him, it shouldn't be difficult for the man to separate them and take his life while he is vulnerable!

What does this ancient man have in mind?

"Why?" Derik asked casually.

"The oath I took prevents me from letting anyone harm the loyal family…. You were only breaking through to a higher realm, I have no reason to attack you since you weren't trying to hurt the royal family at that point in time" Kalos laughed with a cunning smile on his face.

Seeing this Derik was puzzled a bit. He knew about the oath that binds the kingdom guardians to the royal families and he already guessed that is the reason why Kalos was standing in his way. That is why he decided to use the power of wrath to clear the clouds of doubt in the mind of everyone present and manipulate their thoughts, thereby giving them a common enemy! King Robert!

He had to confess, even though the sin of wrath did not provide him with more offensive abilities, its ability is quite terrifying and effective. He simply dug up the hatred of these people for the king and put it in the limelight while amplifying their hatred towards the man. The killing was only necessary because he could sense a breakthrough and he needed more soul power to make the final pus.h.!.+ He will be foolish and naïve to think that killing King Robert will end everything. Not when a branch of the holy church still resides in the Gyro kingdom! Not to speak of the other kingdoms who may plan to take advantage of the situation and attack Gyro after the battle is over and the winning side has lost a considerable portion of his strength!

"And them?" Derik asked, pointing at the members of the military force and the adventurers a.s.sociation joining hands to attack the barrier. Derik didn't really consider counting the civilians throwing rocks, instead, he found it pitiful and sad.

"Them? They can never break through the barrier with that level of power… they pose no threat to the king and his family" Kalos said casually.

Hearing this Derik frowned and cursed Kalos barrier under his breath. He had to confess, the powers of the spatial cosmic spirit are not something he can overlook easily!

"What now?" Derik was confused about how to proceed. Now he was sure the kingdom's guardian was not necessarily a bad person, he was reluctant to take the man's life.

"All my life I sort the approval of the spatial cosmic spirit but it never came… I finally broke into the gold realm a few decades ago, hoping it will acknowledge me and grant me the secrets of its abilities but it rejected me due to my age and claimed I had zero talent… I was lost and disturbed for a while until I found Kuen…. A cosmic spirit host just like myself… I dedicated my life to training this kid and watching him grow. If he is able to gain the approval of his cosmic spirit by entering the gold realm at a younger age, I will forever feel fulfilled! My time has come now… as you possess the necromancer path, you can take my life and let me be reborn by making me your slave… let me watch over this without bearing the problems of this kingdom anymore… I just want to be free" Kalos said earnestly

"Life under a necromancer is not pleasant…. This is me trying to be honest with you here!" Derik said with a frown on his face!

"It can't be worse than what I'm suffering at the hands of the royal family… even if you try to ignore my existence and go straight for the kill… I will be forced to battle you and everyone down there… not even the civilians will be spared… I believe a necromancer can give his undead minions a certain level of freedom… you only constrain your army of the dead because they are the souls of your enemies… I'm not your enemy so such restrictions are not necessary... Plus you get a mid-grade gold realm master on your side permanently… It's a win-win situation for both of us!" Kalos explained.

Hearing this Derik frowned and began considering this. He truly had nothing to lose! Kalos at this point has reached his limit and it will most likely be more difficult for him to break through even further in the future even if he is given a thousand years extra due to his age. His fighting capabilities have also be reduced due to his old bones! This is something Derik could fix by making stealing his soul.

With a gold realm undead on his fight, his chances of repelling the holy church and the other kingdoms that may try to take advantage of the situation increased even further! He has no reason to reject the offer!

"Old man! The death G.o.d has heard your plea! I have accepted your request!" Derik said with a vicious gin on his face.
