Dong Ling didn’t know how long it had pa.s.sed before she finally saw a green cart on the winding path.

The slight ruts left on the ground showed that only one guy was in the cart and that must be Feicui.

Right now, Feicui was still dreaming about her bright future in the cart and didn’t know she was targeted. She just felt annoyed by the chattering hoofs.

At last, she couldn’t stand it anymore. She drew the curtains and cursed, “Who are you riding out there? The tramping hoofs are really annoying! Open your eyes and look carefully! This is a cart of the Dong family!”

Whew, she was such a lackey! And she learnt to use the name of the Dong family.

“Haw-haw!” Dong Ling sneered when she stared at the overweening arrogance on Feicui’s face.

Feicui didn’t realize who she was talking to until she heard the familiar laughter. She looked over at the horse and saw Dong Ling’s gorgeous face with a wild smile.

“Get… get faster!” yelled Feicui.

As Dong Ling approached, Feicui was even too scared to speak fluently. All she could do was to urge the carter!

Taking her order, the carter sped up. Sadly, an old house was pulling the cart. It could never run as fast as a Ferghana horse.

n.o.body knew when Dong Ling held her sword in her hand with a stinging attack.

“Miss… Miss Ling… Mrs. Dong forced me! I… I didn’t want it!” yelled Feicui when she started to beg for mercy. Seemed like she had expected what she was going to suffer.

“Keep your words to h.e.l.l! I don’t want to argue with you!” replied Dong Ling coldly.

“Miss Ling!” shouted Feicui without her eyes wide open in fear. She saw Dong Ling’s sword brandished up and down at her.

With a screech, the blood gushed, splas.h.i.+ng the whole cart.

Realizing something bad was happening in the cart, the carter stopped and didn’t dare to move.

He looked into the cart while the moonlight shone on the b.l.o.o.d.y Feicui. Laid in the cart, it looked horrible.

“How ruthless you are!” Such were last works of Feicui. Even when she was killed, she didn’t believe that Dong Ling, who used to be a coward girl, dared to kill her!

Dong Ling ignored her completely. She got into the cart and soon found the box with Concubine Lin’s jewels. With immense relief, she noticed the scared look on the carter’s face as if he were looking at a monster. She then explained, “Don’t be scared! She was our maid. She stole our jewels and tried to escape. I just executed her!”

“Yes. Yes!” replied the carted but he couldn’t help trembling. Immediately, he knelt and begged nervously, “Please! Please let me go! I have a family to take care of!”

Dong Ling felt embarra.s.sed. She asked the carted to stand up and gave him some silver.

She explained, “Take the money and buy a better cart with it.”

That was quite a lot of money that he couldn’t even make in dozens of years. Then she said, “Oh, by the way, bury her in somewhere n.o.body knew and tell no one about it!”

Taking the sudden fortune, the carted looked no longer scared. Instead, he replied happily, “Okay! Miss! No problem! I’ll take care of it and let no one else know!”

“Okay, then. See you.” Said Dong Ling.

Well, after leaving the rest to the carter, Dong Ling got on the horse and folded her hands before she left just like a heroine.

The carter didn’t stand up until the horse galloped away. He held the silver harder and kept trembling.

Staring at Feicui’s dead body, he burst into tears!

The cart, Li Tie, was a servant who served as a groom in the Dong family. When Feicui used to help Concubine Lin to buy over servants or maids, she fell in love with him. Later, they pledged to marry without parental permission.

But Feicui no longer wanted to serve as a maid, so she made up her mind to elope with Li Tie. Feicui stole some expensive jewels. For the sake of money, Li Tie agreed.

Unexpectedly, Feicui was killed even before they had gone too far.

Only a few seconds later, Li Tie stopped crying. He thought, “How clever I am! I pretended to be weak and survived! Feicui has been killed. And I can’t go back to the Dong family. Luckily, I was given so much silver. At least, I don’t need to worry about the rest of my life. Oh, yeah! I can even find a wife and live a peaceful life!”

When tears were gone, Li Tie suddenly turn hostile and raised the whip to ride forward.

But soon, he felt a breath of cool air behind his neck. His eyes popped out with shock. Then a scarlet bloodline showed up around his neck. With blood gus.h.i.+ng out, he fell off the cart.

A secret guard walked out from nowhere. After glancing at the cart and confirming Li Tie was dead, he took out a paper fire lighter and waved it.

Soon, the fire ripped through the cart.

He stood still until the fire died out. Seeing the cart and dead bodies burning into ash, he then left coldly and ran after Dong Ling.

If Li Tie was alive, he might bring future trouble.

To get rid of this concerned, he killed Li Tie directly.

It was already the midnight when Dong Ling returned to Li Village. She first went back to her own bedroom to take off her b.l.o.o.d.y dress. When she was about to have her dress burnt, she heard the voice of Senior Maid Liu, who asked, “Miss Ling, you’re back?”

“Mm,” replied Dong Ling when she put down the dress and opened the door, “What do you come for?”

Senior Maid Liu stood at the door with a lunchbox and answered, “I guess you haven’t had dinner. So, I bring you something to eat.”

“Well, come in, then,” said Dong Ling. She leant to one side so that Senior Maid Liu could walk in. After she put the lunchbox on the table, Dong Ling asked, “Has my mom slept?”

“No,” Senior Maid Liu shook her head and looked up at her, replying, “She’s been worried about Feicui. Since she had dinner, she has been waiting in the lobby.”

“I don’t dare to tell her the truth in case she gets too sad. So, please go and get her back to her room.” she continued, “It’s cold at night. I’m afraid she’ll get sick.”

Hearing this, Dong Ling totally lost her appet.i.te. She took up a cloak and walked to the lobby with Senior Maid Liu.

Just as she approached, she heard Concubine Lin saying, “It’s so late. I wonder if my daughter has come back.”

“Don’t worry. Miss Ling must be blessed! She will come back safe and sound!” Old Li tried to comfort her. Dong Ling paused and thought of what Senior Maid Liu just said. With a smile, she entered the lobby.

“Mom. I’m back.” She talked before she walked up to Concubine Lin. The latter stood up and held her hand anxiously, “I’m so glad you’re back. Have you found Feicui?”

Dong Ling gave the cloak to Senior Maid Liu and held her mom’s cold hands, saying, “Mom. I have something to tell you!”
