When Mark woke up his head was groggy and all he could see was one giant blur. Without any other logical option he could only wait for his vision to return. After what felt like eight minutes he was finally able to recognize the shapes of items around him. There weren't much, just one bed on which he was currently sitting, a wardrobe, table and chair. The gla.s.s of the only window in this room was shattered and the frame looked like it was damaged beyond repair ages ago. The walls were made out of wood with huge cracks between each plank. The floor was also made out of wood. In a few words, the place looked like it was ancient. He wouldn't let his dog live here what's more a human being. Then he began to wonder. "What the h.e.l.l am I doing here? I don't remember ever coming here. Where is it? Is it somewhere in the suburbs?" The last memory he could find in his head was him entering the base after the battle with the warriors aiming at the young miss. He was about to report clearing all hostiles to his commander Dan when he felt a sudden jolt of pain in his back. The last thing was the vicious smirk at his commander's face. "Dammit" He could understand now. From the moment he was born they removed the part of his brain responsible for feeling any emotions, he was also to lose any feeling of individuality, so that he would obey any command given to him by them. Unfortunately he maintained his personality and could make his own decisions. They wanted to fix that problem but, by doing so he would most certainly died. So as to not make any waste, they still trained him for the elite unit he was to join. Then after training that started when he was five and ended when he hit fifteen, he was directed to the Protection Unit. He was responsible for guarding the young miss with his life. But because he maintained his inner self, the higher ups never truly trusted him. That was why he always received tasks that required him to be patrolling and scouting. Finally one day, they were attacked by a mysterious group of individuals. They were all experts in their field of expertise. The best tracker, sniper, a.s.sa.s.sin, diversionist and the marksmen that with every clip of his a.s.sault rifle took lives of thirty men of the elite unit. Only Protection Unit was able to contend with them. After three hours of battle, Mark was finally able to track the fleeing sniper and kill him. He then came back to the safehouse. When he got to the site of the battle he saw what earlier was the elite unit, being piled up in one place by those who survived. There were about sixty corpses strewn around. Not paying that any heed he walked into the safehouse to report the death of the sniper. "Was it because they thought I have something to do with the a.s.sault?" No matter how he thought about it he wasn't able to come up with the reason for his death.

And then it hit him. "Wait, wait, if… if I died, then what the f.u.c.k is this, what is this place." He franticly looked around in search for any clues as to what the heck was happening. He even pinched himself to check if he was just dreaming. He stood up and run to the window and searched for a piece of gla.s.s large enough so that he could look at himself. After picking a fairly large piece of gla.s.s he looked at his reflection. And he was once again shocked. The gla.s.s showed him a face of a boy that was at most fourteen years old, while Mark was already nearing 25 years of age. The boy was fairly decent looking. With his blonde hair and calm deep blue eyes, straight nose and thin eyebrows, you could say that when he grew up he wouldn't have any problems in picking ladies. The only small issue would be the dead look in his eyes. They were completely devoid of any emotion. And even though Mark was shocked at the age of the reflected teenager, he was somewhat relieved, because it was exactly how he looked when he was fourteen. After confirming that he had somewhat travelled in time and from what he could see outside the window he could confirm that he also travelled to another world. Outside the window here was a small pen holding three strange looking animals. From what little he knew about farm animals he conclude that they were something between Alpacas and Cows, with big snouts, large udders of cow and fluffy fur of the alpacas. "Where in the world am I?"
