The Inheritor 35 Puzzled Quinn

So slowly one by one they returned to their rooms on the flying clouds. No one can fight hunger including Quinn. Quinn was in the first group that left the cla.s.s. The return journey was uneventful; they made their way to their rooms with students of other cla.s.ses, while chatting with Tracy and her roommates.

They had a simple lunch while discussing about the physiques and body refining arts, all of them planned to check the arts given to them after lunch. After quickly eating their lunch all of them gathered in the training hall.

Quinn looked the list of body refining arts and felt dizzy there were thousands of arts and he didn't know where to start.

"Elgar what am supposed this heap of body refining arts; any brilliant ideas?" Quinn first asked Elgar as he was the only one who knew all his secrets.

[Boss, it doesn't matter which one you choose Primordial Chaotic Physique can accommodate anything. Your inheritance surly doesn't have anything relating body refining art. After all those stuffs are related to top cultivator's legacies, it would be odd to find body refining arts as a part of their legacies. Just try to get the most diverse art from this pile.]

As Elgar proved completely useless he decided to follow Fran's instruction and decided to filter.

First, he glanced through the entire list and realized that most of the body refining arts were for specific body parts like Dharma fire eyes art, Iron claws arts, Golden legs art, Jade finger arts, illusionary limb art, so on and so forth.

Quinn didn't have any physique so eliminated them and the list significantly reduced, then he removed any art that focused on single attribute like strength or speed or flexibility.

This wasn't a blind guess work he thought about his physique which is hidden by Elgar, the only thing he knew about it that it is versatile and could help him practice various cultivation manual simultaneously.

He didn't want to restrict himself by focusing a particular body part or attribute like strength. Improving a single attribute will have disadvantages of sacrificing one aspect for improving another like compromising mobility for increasing strength or sacrificing defense for speed.

Though these were common sense, Quinn has practically experienced all these in his precious life. He has hunted many people and killed numerous people using these weakness, so will never make such a blunder.

After these two elimination most of the arts were removed. People like Quinn who doesn't focus on one attribute were very rare as it was well known that the difficulty increases exponentially.

Only people like Lardo who have physique that focus on overall body enhancement will try such arts.

Quinn knew his choice will increase the difficulty but he refused compromise. In fact, Quinn was a perfectionist and will always strive to get the best. There were only 14 body refining arts of which only 4 body refining arts were diverse.

Five Elemental art - The basic five elements - water, fire, earth, wind and s.p.a.ce are integrated within the body. This integration will develop the body more vigorously. (Comment: Extra ordinarily difficult - only two people has ever reached complete mastery.)

Ethereal illusion art- At the highest level can travel between reality and illusion, some simple ability moving like wind and sudden manifestation. (Comment: Impossible - never succeeded; Instinct development is the highest stage ever reached.)

Primal evolution art - Improves all body functions. (Comment: Impossible never succeeded; Instinct development is the highest stage ever reached)

Umbra blood art - Best body refining art for a.s.sa.s.sin. (Comment: Extra ordinarily difficult - only three people has ever reached complete mastery.)

Quinn went through the description and he was stunned silly not by the comment but the briefness of the description. It hardly one sentence or few words all the arts he has read till now least had a small paragraph not this short.

Quinn guessed the reason description were short was to make them less attractive or undesirable. As most kids tend to over-estimate themselves and pick these difficult arts even after warnings in the comment.

After warding of these meaningless thoughts he focused in the 4 arts he selected.

'Which one should I choose? they all sounded equally powerful'

He eliminated the Umbra blood art as he didn't plan to become an a.s.sa.s.sin or a serial killer at least not anytime soon.

He had already killed enough in his previous life and didn't plan on continuing the same job. Well that is unless someone doesn't court death, then Quinn will happily grant their wish.

He also removed Ethereal illusion art as he felt that it wasn't suitable for him. He always followed his heart moreover, Fran also advised him to do so.

Quinn was in a dilemma whether to select 5 elemental art or Primal evolution art, he looked at his friends seeing them seriously reading the description, but all of them squared down to 6 or 7 body refining arts.

After sometime everyone was same position, they all filtered down to 3 to 5 body refining arts. As they were getting nowhere all of them decided to discuss with their parents. So they went to their respective rooms.

After long contemplation he decided to call his mom, he knew he must tell them about his body physique one day or other. Today is better than any other day so he resolved himself lie about his physique while getting her suggestion about the 2 arts.

"Mom, today we tested our physique I er….er.. didn't have a special physique. Sorry Mom."

He was slightly hesitant about calling her, though he had a physique he couldn't tell its origin so had to keep it a secret. Thus, he was bound to disappoint her.

"Quinn it's not your mistake, not having a physique is actually a very normal occurrence. So cheer up." Helena wasn't sad or frustrated about Quinn's body physique, Quinn would have detected it if she was hiding her sorrow.

Quinn immediately went to other topic as he wasn't actually worried about his physique and didn't bother spending time on it.

The only thing he feared was his parents being disappointment now that Helena was calm and composed even after knowing that he doesn't have special physique he felt rea.s.sured. Thus, he asked about the body refining art.

"Mom the teacher asked us to select a body refining art after discussing with you Ihav…" Helena cut in before Quinn could finish the sentence.

"Quinn the body refining art will have a very profound impact on your cultivation but you must make an independent call about the art; you know yourself the best. Before selecting a particular body refining art ask yourself if you're appy with the body refining art you selected.

Quinn couldn't believe his ears; he was expecting many suggestions or her past experiences or some long boring stories. 'Mom I'm only 5 years old right?' Quinn cried in his mind. After some chitchat they ended the call.
