Isha giggled childishly as Raven led her down the narrow hallway of the tiny apartment. "No wonder you hide your wings!" She giggled teasingly, "They barely fit this tiny home of yours!"

Raven rolled her eyes as she continued to lead her impish bride toward her room. "We are living inconspicuous, Isha. You know that. It's hard enough to hide their ident.i.ties… let along my own." Raven pulled her into the first small room. "Here we are…" She looked around the room, then up at the ceiling fan. "Hum…" She flipped the light switch off and quickly switched on the floor lamp, before turning back to face Isha nervously. {It's been so long and things didn't end well the last time we were face to face…}

Raven's thoughts were interrupted when a tiny hand cupped her cheek. "Raven, love, I can't stay long and I don't want to waste the time we have together… Forget the past…" Isha's chubby cheeks took on a soft blush, "And love me."

Raven let out the breath she hadn't realized she had been holding. She cupped her hand over the small on still resting on her face and smiled down into the twinkling eyes staring back at her. "Oh Isha, I've missed you so much. I'm… I'm so sorry for-"

Isha smiled brightly bringing the pointer finger of her other hand up to Raven's lips to silence her. "It's all in the past, love." She took a step forward and pushed up onto tiptoes to place a light kiss on Raven's frowning lips. "Let's not waste our time talking about such things." She turned away and walked the short distance to the full-sized bed and flopped onto its center. "Come to me, my love." She held her arms out wide.

A wicked smile curled Raven's lips as she instead turned toward her dresser. "I'm sure you don't want me without our toybox." She grabbed a medium-sized, decorative box with a small key in its keyhole from the top of the dresser. She turned the key and set it in the box's place before turning back toward the bed and her waiting lover. She sat the box on the nightstand and bent over the bed letting her wings fully extend out behind her. She bent and gave the squirming Isha a teasing kiss on the lips first, then another on the girl's neck, then her barely visible collar bone, before moving down her slightly protruding tummy. Raven smiled as Isha wiggled and giggled in excitement as Raven moved along her body. She pushed the top off the box with one hand not taking her attention from her lover. She felt around until her fingers brushed across their target. Raven kissed one rounded thigh as she slid the toy between their thickness. She placed teasing kisses on either side of Isha's inter thighs as she teased the sensitive flesh with the vibrating device.

"Raven! You wicked, wicked woman!!!! Don't torment me like this!!!" Isha's frustrated voice cried out.

Jos ended the call after voicemail picked up for a second time. {Raven must have left her phone somewhere weird again.} She shrugged and sent a quick text. After she was finished, she quickly brushed out her wet hair and headed out of the bathroom. Jos quickly glanced around the room taking note of the incredibly late time displayed on the digital clock on the sleek modern desk in the corner. When she didn't see Xavier in the room, she made her way over to the patio. Through the gla.s.s her eyes met his. He looked as though he had just ended a phone call and was now setting it on the small table beside him. She pushed to door open and walked out slowly.

Xavier smiled gesturing to the phone. "My brother."

Nervous excitement filled her, "Was Sh.e.l.ly with him? Can you call him back so I can talk to her?"

Xavier stood and made his way over toward her. He cupped her cheek as he smiled sadly down at him, "No sweetheart, I'm afraid I can't do that." His eyes radiated their usual intense green glow. "He called my right before boarding a plane headed for overseas. It will be a good 18 hours before he lands." He stroked her cheek with his index finger. "I'm sure after he lands and finds that perfect spot… he'll call back."

Jos furrowed her brow, "But Sh.e.l.ly is with him, isn't she?"

Xavier smiled rea.s.suringly down at her. "I'm a.s.sure you, she'll be right there by his side when he calls, and you can talk to her all you want."

Something about the way he worded it made a cold s.h.i.+ver run down Joslyn's spine. Worry colored her words as she asked, "He… He… Likes her right?" She frowned. "He seemed so…. And you said he was a d.i.c.k…"

Xavier pulled her against him in a tight hug. He pulled away enough to look down into her worried eyes as he answered. "Don't worry so much. I swear to you, I've never seen my brother so… obsessed with a girl in all my many, many long years. I know he'd go to the ends of the Earth to for her." He smiled, "He is an a.s.shole, don't get me wrong, but once he sets his sights on something… or someone nothing will sway him. They will have his complete devotion."

Jos gave him a weary smile as she nodded, resting her head against his chest. {Something in the way he worded that… Maybe it's just my imagination…} Jos let out a surprised squeak as Xavier suddenly lifted her into his arms. She gripped tightly around his neck. "What… What are you doing?!"

Xavier laughed as he gazed down at her, mischief twinkled in his beautiful eyes. "You, my darling a.s.sistant, aren't going to be worth a d.a.m.n tomorrow if you don't get some rest." He began walking back toward the open villa doors, clearing the span in large strides. He set her down in the center of the bed before flopping down beside her. He sprawled out resting his head on one of the soft, fluffy pillows. "You make me wish I slept more."

She frowned, "What do you mean?"

He kissed her nose, "I mean, you make me wish I was a normal man." He brushed a strand of hair back from her face, before kissing her lips softly. He let out a heavy sigh, "But then again I guess if I were a normal man, I wouldn't be able to give you the s.p.a.ce you need now." He rolled over onto his back, pulling her tightly against his side as he went. "Get some sleep, I'll hold you until you fall asleep."

{He's still reading my mood.} Jos fought against the tension coursing through her body. She lifted her arm and rested it across his upper abdominals. "I'm sorry. I know this must be… frustrating for you, especially being able to… tell my moods so well."

Xavier traced patterns on the back of her hand, "I'm not frustrated. I understand… It's hard to love the wrong person. Even knowing they're the wrong person for you doesn't stop the feelings."

She frowned up at him, "You… um… went through something like this before?"

He chuckled lightly, pulling her closer to him. "Yes. It's not every day a vampire falls so head over heels for someone so much different from themselves." He gazed down at her with sad serious eyes, "I know a relations.h.i.+p with me isn't without it's stresses and limitations, but I want you to know I'm willing to take on whatever hards.h.i.+ps stand before us. If that means waiting a while for your heart to heal then so be it. As I said before I want all of you, not just a fractured portion."

Jos concentrated her eyes and thought on the painting hanging above the desk, the turbulent waves reflecting her own feelings perfectly. "I'm sorry, it's not fair to you… and I know I should move on and that I'll more than likely never see either of them again… but it doesn't make it hurt less."

Xavier frowned, "I'm sure you at least get to see Sh.e.l.ly again. I wouldn't imagine my brother letting her out of his sight anytime soon." He stroked his index finger back and forth over the soft skin of her hand. "Now get some sleep, we have a long day tomorrow. You'll need your rest and I still have quite a bit of work to finish up with."

Jos laughed in an attempt to lighten the mood, "It's a good thing you're not a normal man, how else would you be able to work the way you do."

He laughed, "Yes well, vampirism does have it's advantages thats for sure. I can only imagine wall street without our kind."

Jos pushed up onto her elbows to get a better look at his face. "Wall street is ran by vampires, really?"

He laughed, "Yes, for the most part." He pushed her back down into the bed, kissing her nose again. "Sleep my curious kitten." He smiled, "Trust me, after all the meetings tomorrow day and gala tomorrow night you'll apricate the rest you were able to get today."

Jos sighed, a worried look taking over her face again. "A gala? I didn't really pack for anything that fancy."

He laughed, "It's fine I didn't figure you had. I was actually picking out a dress for it when I found the biking outfit you had on earlier. You dress will be here in plenty of time tomorrow."

She sighed again. "You do too much for me."

He chuckled kissing her softly on the lips. His lips were still brus.h.i.+ng hers as he whispered against them. "What can I say, I'm spoiling you so you won't want to leave."

She frowned and pushed him farther away. Turmoil radiated from the aqua depth of her eyes. "I don't what your money or whatever other materialistic thing you can provide. I like the person you are, not what you can provide."

His smile faded. "I..." He looked away running one hand through his hair. {Big words coming from

someone surrounded by royalty...} He looked back down at her, a faint smile reemerging. "I didn't mean for it to come out like that, I'm not trying to imply you're shallow or... anything of the sort. I just meant it as a joke." {Is it not his t.i.tle... my t.i.tle you're after then?} He leaned down and kissed her once more before pus.h.i.+ng himself up and turning away. "I'll leave you be so you can sleep. If you need me I'll be out on the veranda."

Jos watched as he walked over to the sleek desk and retrieved his computer bag and headed out the double doors without turning back. She blew out a frustrate breath of air. {I'm horrible with men... I always end up saying or doing the wrong things...} She closed her eyes Xavier's earlier words still echoing in her mind. {I can't shake the feeling that there was a deeper meaning to the sweet things he was saying. He openly admitted his brother was a horrible person, how could he be a good mate for someone as sweet and innocent a Sh.e.l.ly... I guess I'll not know the answers to that until I talk to her myself...} Joslyn's mind turn as she thought back to her conversation with Russ and the heart wrenching words he had said. {No doubt I wouldn't have had the strength to leave had... HE... not walked in...} She squeezed her eyes shut tightly fighting the image of her first love's taunting face from popping into her brain.
