The second week pa.s.sed, and most of the people in the city had been moved. The only ones that were left, were in the palace, and had access to the magical food from the kitchens.

By using the magic of the chicken world to sleep, Aella was able to continue working without stopping. Rumors were spreading that she cared enough about the people, that she had found a way to go without sleep. There was also another rumor circulating, that anyone who stayed behind would die. The people in the palace were anxious to be moved as well.

Gathering the builders and generals together, as she had the previous week, she took them to the treasury for their meeting. While she didn't see the mimic do it, because he was hiding from prying eyes, he was able to change the time between the worlds while everyone was stepping into the chest, to ensure that time wasn't wasted.

Everyone was exhausted and looking forward to the beds when they arrived. The mimic had made a bathroom, completely with running hot water and large tubs. There was even a shower area. Aella found it first and gawked at the elaborate room. She didn't hesitate, even though her magical clothing kept her clean, in getting naked and jumping under the waterfall of a shower.

Curiosity had the others seeking her out, and when they saw that she was getting a shower, and there were tubs for everyone to enjoy, they called the others, and soon all of the demons and humans were soaking in tubs, watching Aella shower with delight. She knew they were there, but she didn't care. The water was so warm and felt so good, she just stood under the water, letting it pound all of her aches and pains away. Then she spotted the soap.

Several hours later, she emerged, fully clothed and dry, ready for bed and smelling of scented soaps she had only ever been able to use when she was first crowned the king. The others arrived later, dripping wet and carrying their clothes, their skins wrinkled from being submerged in the water for so long. She smirked as they didn't meet her eyes and found their beds. Several had issues with walking, but it wasn't because they had injuries.

After a long satisfying rest, Aella woke and headed to the kitchen dining area. The mimic had the chickens slaving over everything, preparing the feast for her people. They were almost done, when she arrived.

"It all looks so delicious, mimic! You've done a fantastic job!"

"You think so?" asked the oversized chicken, grinning to show a purple tongue and sharp teeth that no chicken would ever have.

"I do think you need to get everyone out of here, before the others arrive. They were stirring, but needed to dress first," she said with a grin.

"They needed to dress… Aella, did you?" asked the mimic with wide eyes.

She laughed. "I put on a pretty good show last night, if their erections were any indication, but no, I didn't bed any of them. There were plenty of offers, and several begged me, but I don't want to have kids until things settle down."

"That's smart of you. Because you're a hero, you should live a lot longer than the others. There's plenty of time for you to have kids later," said the mimic, shooing the chickens through a cabinet door as the door behind her opened.

"You know why the church stopped doing that, don't you?" asked Alfred, stepping out with Rupert right behind him.

"No, why? I thought they wanted the heroes to breed with each other!" exclaimed Rupert.

"No, they found out that the heroes take longer to reach maturity when they had more than one kind in them, and that it often made them unstable mentally. When I was a little boy, I remember my mom explaining who I would be expected to get with, and who I wouldn't be allowed to be with. It doesn't matter now, anyways," said Alfred, reaching the table where the chickens had set out a feast for them.

"That's a lot of food," murmured Rupert, stopping to stare. "Who made all of this?"

"The chickens in the walls," said Aella with a grin.

"Can we go ahead and eat?" asked Alfred, looking around for plates. "If we have to wait on the others, I'm going to starve."

Aella laughed, and got down the plates from an upper cabinet. She had the mimic shoo all of the chickens away before they had a chance to get them. Closing the cabinet, she wondered how the chickens would get them down, but decided the mimic would probably be the one who did it.

Taking a plate herself, she went down the line, filling it up with all manner of delicious treats, and then headed off to sit and enjoy them.

"Why did you have to tease us so!" complained Kieran as he came out of the room, still walking funny from the night before. "I dreamt of you all night!"

"Ha! Maybe you need to find yourself a wife," teased Aella.

"Are you offering?" he asked with a smile.

"To find you a wife? All right, but you may not like her," said Aella with a smile as she peeled her orange.

"I meant… ugh!" he groaned, throwing up his arms in frustration as everyone laughed at him.

"Be careful," said Zack, "Or she'll find you an old hag to marry."

"I might actually know one of those," said Aella thoughtfully, thinking about some of the creatures she had seen from a distance while gone on her month-long trip. She had stayed far enough away from everyone to make sure she didn't affect anyone, or anything, after the incident with the white monster.

Everyone seemed to be in a good mood as they gathered their food and sat at the table to eat. Aella was dying to ask them how things were going, since she had been so busy moving people, she hadn't had a chance to really talk to any of them, but she would wait. They deserved this little break after the chaos and stress of the past week. She wished she could treat more of her people to this, but it just wasn't possible. In fact, now that she thought about some of the people she had met over the past week, she didn't want to bring some of them at all.

"You should get Bridgette," said Alfred, with his mouth full of food. "She would love this, and could provide some input to the discussion."

"Oh, yes!" exclaimed Rupert, perking up. "Please do get the sage! I would love to meet her!"

Aella nodded and teleported to the library. Spying Bridgette, deeply immersed in her book, Aella teleported next to her, and teleported both Bridgette and the book back to the treasury, stepping into the chest with her in tow. It took her almost three seconds, but in the chest, it had been three hours. Everyone was long done eating, and some had even laid back down for naps to wait for her to return. She spied Firion frowning at her.

Reigning in her frustration, she turned to Bridgette, who was holding her open book to her chest and looking around in confused amazement.

"Where am I?" she asked, turning to Aella.

"This is a bit of a retreat that I like to treat my top advisors to once a week," said Aella. "Time here moves much faster than the time outside, so we can take a day or two to rest and discuss without losing time in the outer world."

"Aella, that is very dangerous, are you sure this is a good idea?" asked Bridgette.

"How can it be dangerous?" asked Aella.

"Well, everyone who stays in here will lose part of their lives. They will seem to age prematurely in the outer world. And if not careful, you can really abuse it!"

"Like growing enough crops for an entire kingdom, so my people don't starve?" asked Aella dryly.

Everyone in the room froze and looked at her. It was clear that the thought had never occurred to many of them.

"Bridgette?" called Alfred, appearing out of the bathroom and giving the Sage a wide grin.

"Alfred? You're here? Don't you know…" she began, but was stopped short when he zoomed to her and gave her a hug. "I missed you. Aella hasn't moved the library yet, and I've missed seeing you."

"No, she hasn't," sighed Bridgette. "And I'm not looking forward to it, either. I've barely managed to get the books from the church library organized and in order, much less prepared the ones from the demon library."

"Wait, that's where you've been?" asked Frederik, looking from Bridgette to Aella. "She's been in our library all this time?"

"Yes?" asked Aella. "Who do you think I've been cross referencing everything with?"

"That's how you knew the others were lying!" cried Ernun suddenly, as he suddenly realized how she knew things.

"You don't think I learned so much in the pits, did you?" Aella asked dryly.

"No, but that's why we were so confused. It seemed that you always knew everything, when you obviously shouldn't have," Orolon said with a chuckle. "Mystery solved."
