About ten minutes later…

There are additional people in Max's hospital room.

The Chairman of the hospital is in the front of the group, talking to Liz and Max. Behind the Chairman is his a.s.sistant and on the side are the four nurses who were rude, their supervisor, the chief surgeon and the rheumatologist who is the doctor in charge of Max.

Based on the lineup of people, both Liz and Max can see that the Chairman knows about their displeasure, because only the surgeon and the supervising nurse were not in contact with them so far.

Liz didn't give any details to her father, and the fact that the relevant people are here is a giveaway how this Chairman can find out what happens in his hospital. So, he either does not want to know how badly his employees are treating the patients, or he knows and ignores it. In any case, Liz finds him very irresponsible.

"… Again, I apologize, Dr. Williams if we made you uncomfortable in any way.", Chairman Jarvik humbly said. "The staff was unaware of your ident.i.ty."

Max looked at all these people shrinking in front of Elizabeth and then at Elizabeth who is standing straight with a domineering aura surrounding her and… he likes it. She reminds him of an empress who is looking at her unworthy subjects, with power to squish them at any moment.

He knows Liz as a confident and smart woman with a great sense of humor who believes in the goodness of people and avoids drama, a friendly neighbor, a girl who is inexperienced in romance and blushes easily, and this… is new Liz. Very powerful and s.e.xy. If there is such a thing as a mental turn-on, Max has one right now.

Liz lifted her chin slightly and directed her icy gaze toward the nurses while talking to Chairman Jarvik. "For a hospital of this reputation, I would a.s.sume that every patient will get a fair treatment. I must say that my initial impression is… disappointing. Since we arrived, we didn't receive a single word of empathy. Being a medical worker is more than providing painkillers and surgeries. I am sure you are all aware of this."

Liz's eyes moved over everyone before settling on Chairman Jarvik.

After a short dramatic pause, Liz continued: "The people who come here need medical care and being treated in a derisive way is not helping anyone. I don't expect a good reception because I have a certain ident.i.ty. As medical workers, we treat conditions to the best of our ability and receive all patients with respect, don't you agree, Chairman Jarvik?"

Chairman Jarvik is a man in his early sixties, a proud man with many years of exemplary career in medical field. Right now, he is doing his best to conceal how embarra.s.sed he is to be in this situation. His employees are watching him bow and apologize to a woman half his age, because they don't know how to distinguish important people from regular tourists!

When he got a call from Dr. Isaac Williams, Chairman Jarvik was not sure what to expect, but when he heard that his precious daughter is here and complaining how people are disrespectful, Chairman Jarvik thought that he will pa.s.s out.

The young woman in front of him is not only a daughter of Dr. Isaac Williams, she is a neurosurgeon as well! Elizabeth might not be known as her father, but considering her background and that she became a neurosurgeon at the age of 26, it is only a matter of time before her reputation swells to the point of being able to make or break other's medical career with few words.

Chairman Jarvik clenched his teeth while thinking how he will punish harshly these useless employees. How is it possible that they don't know who is Dr. Isaac Williams, the Chairman of Williams Medical corp.?

But there is no way that he will act arrogantly in front of Elizbeth. She is the daughter of Isaac Williams! One word from that man and his hospital's reputation will be ruined, together with his career.

"Yes, Dr. Williams. In the name of everyone I apologize. It is my mistake for not training them properly. I a.s.sure you that this will be remedied as soon as possible.", he turned to his a.s.sistant. "Kim, take note on this and let's get it in everyone's schedule." He looked back at Liz. "Dr. Williams, if you have any trainings that you can recommend, we will appreciate it."

Liz nodded in approval. "I will send them to your a.s.sistant."

Chairman Jarvik put his professional smile on. "Thank you. If you have the time during your stay to take a tour of our humble establishment and suggest recommendations for improvement, we will appreciate it…"

When the Chairman ended his talk, the rheumatologist stepped forward. "Dr. Williams, let me know if you have suggestions about the treatment… And I apologize if I made you uncomfortable…"

"Your treatment is acceptable.", Liz responded. "Minor changes I had are already in the chart. As for the apology, I don't need it. I only hope that going forward you will improve. However… I you want to apologize, then that should be directed toward your patient..."

The man swallowed his non-existent saliva and turned to Max: "I apologize…"

Few minutes later, the nurses apologized as well and the group left the room after Chairman Jarvik said that if there is anything else, they can contact him directly.

The Chief surgeon lingered behind. "Dr. Williams… I am Dr. Everett Kong, Chief surgeon… it's an honor to meet you.", he grinned while shaking hands with her. He said how he read number of her papers and that he admires her work and he asked if he could stop by tomorrow with his edition of the magazine where her latest paper was published and if she can sign it.

"You are famous.", Max told Liz when surgeon left. He was unable to hide his admiration toward Elizabeth. She sorted them out, perfectly.

Liz flashed a smile. "I am surprised about Dr. Kong wanting my autograph."

"Who is your dad exactly?", Max was obviously curious.

"My dad is the famous one in my family.", Liz responded ambiguously.

"You said that he is a surgeon?"

"Yes. And also… he owns few hospitals."

Max wanted to ask more because Liz started opening up, but they were interrupted by few nurses and doctors who came in. They are being moved to another room.

The new room is twice the size of the previous one.

Max's bed is huge, and he already a.s.sessed that the both of them can sleep on it without any problem. On Max's left is a seating area with a sofa (it can be pulled into a queen-size bed) and two sofchairs which recline fully, coffee table and two side tables. On his right is one dining table with four chairs, and the attached bathroom looks like it belongs into a spa. Fluffy carpet covers the floor and walls are decorated with artwork. There is a huge flat screen TV mounted on the wall, and below it is a ma.s.sive aquarium with colorful tropical fish. If not for the hospital bed and medical equipment hidden in the built-in storage, it would look like a fancy hotel.

Max was not sure if he was more surprised by sudden change in the att.i.tude of the staff who were supper-respectful and eager to please, or by the full table of food which looked like it arrived from a Michelin star restaurant.

"Your dad knows how to rattle the cage.", Max half-teased.

Liz laughed and glanced around the room. "Now this is a VIP room with a VIP service included. Let's eat. I don't know about you, but I am starving."

Max found that on his left is a remote with many b.u.t.tons which control the television, bed, lights in the room, can place an instant call to the nurse station and dining service, and there are even b.u.t.tons to control the color of the light in the aquarium.

At the push of a b.u.t.ton, from under Max's bed one board slid to the side and moved above him, opening to double up is size and becomes a table for the patient while he is in the bed. This bed has much more features that the previous one.

Max lifted his top half of the bed into a seated position and saw that Liz is already arranging food in front of him. Ah, finally they can have their meal together.

Liz offered to feed him, but he said that he can manage. It's not that he does not want her services, but he knows that she is hungry as well. He will ask her to feed him dinner.

Liz finished her soup when she noticed: "You are done?"

Max nodded.

"How can you be done? What did you eat?" She glanced at the only bowl which is empty. Everything else is… untouched. "You had only fruits?"

Max nodded again, this time with a grin.

"Why? You should eat if you want to get better. Come on, your body needs energy.", she encouraged him to eat.

Max refused. "During breakfast, you told me to stick to the diet."

Liz paused. She does not remember telling him to eat only fruits during breakfast. What did they eat? It took her few seconds to remember: pineapples! Her face exploded in a blush. Oh, G.o.d! Indirectly he is telling her that he wants her to go down on him!

Liz awkwardly cleared her throat. "Don't be silly and eat everything."

Max was about to refuse, and she interrupted him: "Besides… the fruit part is only to make it sweeter. It is not that bad. But don't get any ideas! You are injured and should not move or exert your body. You are taking painkillers and not feeling pain, however, it is very important that you rest."

Max's eyebrows shoot up I surprise, he didn't expect her to talk so openly about the taste of his s.e.m.e.n despite her fierce blush.

"But the kisses are OK, right? We are not canceling those.", Max wanted to make sure.

Liz smiled. "If you don't move, then it's fine."

Max reached for the soup and smiled while thinking that these next two days with Liz not leaving his side will be an unexpected treat. The fall was worth it.
