Liam's Earthen s.p.a.ce Spear canceled Jhan's dagger, producing an eerily soft distorted metallic clanking sound. Earth True Qi poured out of Liam's body to encase Jhan with a heavy and dense coat of Earthen particles before supplemental s.p.a.ce True Qi redoubled Liam's sealing potential.
Unfortunately for Jhan, entering a deadlock with an unknown variable like Liam put him in a significantly worse position as he was suppressed before he even knew what was happening. Though he definitely could have easily escaped had he only been fighting Liam, he had to worry about Jane, Sophie, and even Atid as they were all itching to retaliate at the first sight of an opening.
"Hmph," Jhan snorted.
With his eyes growing bloodshot, Jhan thought, 'These f.u.c.king...'
Even in the comfort of his own mind, he was so aggravated he couldn't think of what to call these people that had systematically ruined his plans again and again. With how carefully he had been planning, he would never in a million years have expected for yet another one of his plans to fail.
Not only did he have to deal with Liam's impressive Earth and s.p.a.ce sealing skills, but Jane, whose abilities as a Cultivator of the Extreme Path of Spirituality made her even more dangerous in that regard, had begun to add on Yin and Ice Qi.
As Jhan's eyes s.h.i.+ned with a deep murky red, something in his body snapped at that moment to unleash a flood of Death Energies that bordered the line between True Qi and Core Qi.
In the blink of an eye, the horrifyingly intense Death Qi evaporated all the restraints attempting to lock down his body. But because Jhan was far from the Core Formation Stage, that single burst consumed a third of his total energy reserves.
Eyes narrowed, Jhan waved his hands as he backpedaled to give himself a bit of distance. Around his body, a dozen b.a.l.l.s of extremely dense Death True Qi materialized. The b.a.l.l.s of Death might only be of meager threat to the Transcendent Foundation Stage Cultivators in the room. However, if the b.a.l.l.s were to leave Jhan's reign of control and disperse across the building, anyone below the Saint Stage would probably die within seconds. Even Saint Stage Pract.i.tioners wouldn't live past a minute of exposure.
Over a second pa.s.sed without words being exchanged before Jhan said, "I'll admit, this was quite the spectacular failure on my part. It seems that no matter how well I plan in advance, you and your little friends constantly blow over my expectations."
"Yeah? Well, I for one am glad to see you crash and burn, idiot," Jane said.
If looks could kill, she would have glared a million holes into Jhan's body by now.
She continued, "Now, are we just going to keep staring at each other or are you going to tell us what you want?"
"Hmph," Jhan snorted, "You sure you want to keep acting all high and mighty while I have the lives of everyone in the dojo in my hands?"
Jane donned a smile as she venomously spat, "As if you'd even dare to do anything. Your hostages are the only thing keeping the four of us from killing you where you stand."
Jhan felt a twitch in the veins running along his forehead as he didn't have any words to retort with. However, he still had business with these people, so he swallowed the bitterness in his heart and said, "In hindsight, I would have been able to get rid of all you if I hadn't have been as pa.s.sive in the past, but nothing I say now will change the fact."
"Anyway," Jhan put on a contemptuous smirk as he asked, "Before I leave, I just wanted to know why that demon didn't come with you. I heard you and that Sun fellow were following her around like a bunch of stray dogs. If word of my attack reached your ears, it should have reached theirs."
"Heh," Jhan chuckled, "I guess I shouldn't be surprised those two traitorous sc.u.m would forget where they came from. Unlike them, you're probably the only one loyal enough to check back with the Atid after so many better options opened up."
"Traitorous sc.u.m?" Jane quietly repeated. The scowl on her face intensifying by the reddening of her eyes.
"Instead of slandering Elizabeth, If I were you I'd be counting my lucky stars, f.u.c.ker. Had a Pract.i.tioner proficient in Death like her been here, you'd already be dead." Jane said. It took the totality of her willpower to not engage in an all-out a.s.sault, the dojo and everyone in it be d.a.m.ned.
"You don't sound too convincing," Jhan grinned, "Why else wouldn't she be here, then?"
"She isn't here for reasons you don't need to know," Liam coldly said.
He addressed Jane and said, "Calm down. Can't you see he's fis.h.i.+ng for information?"
"Tsk," Jhan clicked his tongue, annoyed that Liam had uncovered his intention. He conceded today's attack as another failure after Jane visibly sobered up.
Since it was unlikely that he would be able to get more information, he combined the b.a.l.l.s of Death that were still hovering around him.
After endowing the now-ma.s.sive ball of Death with yet another spike of extremely pure Core-like Death Qi, he said, "I guess my time to leave has come. Though, I don't exactly want the lot of you to follow me around. So, you'll just have to decide whether you want to save your precious dojo or come after me."
With a flash of True Qi, Jhan's form flickered away from the building at hypersonic speeds while his t.i.tanic ball of Death began to disperse within the dojo.
In a fraction of second, three of the Transcendent Foundation Stage Cultivators present acted to contain and refine away the ball of Death.
However, Jane put on a most conniving grin as she said, "Don't dispel the Death Qi. Just keep it sealed for a couple minutes."
It astounded the others how Jane of all people, the one who most wanted to see Jhan dead, reacted with anything other than vehement frustration to see the man get away. However, by the time they got over their mild shock, she was already flickering across the rooms in the dojo.
Within five minutes she had outlined the foundation a Spirit Grade Killing Array. As she went around the dojo, she a.s.sured the dojo disciples that everything was fine.
Apart from cultivating her abilities and Cultivation, Jane had been helping humanity with the Vymling invasion. With all the fights she'd involved herself in, she didn't lack a supply of quality materials to make top-tier arrays. Though, even with the Vymling invaders growing stronger over time, most of Jane's highest quality materials came from Spirit Beast Monsters. The most competent of the invaders that had crossed over to Earth's dimension had yet to reach the Spirit Realm.
Thus, after a quality foundation had been set up, Jane picked a Death-type Monster Core from a Spirit Realm Beast as the nexus of her array. She returned to the room with her peers and said, "I've set up measures to ensure that idiot never f.u.c.ks with us again. Now, all we need to do is drive all that Death Qi into this Monster Core."
While Liam didn't even turn to question her, Atid, who had no clue what level of Formations Master Jane was, asked, "What did you do?"
"Well," Jane guided the Monster Core into the ball of Death as she continued, "After overwriting all the dojo's existing Defensive Arrays just barely to the Spirit Grade, I erased the Killing Array you had in favor of the one that will be supported by that Monster Core."
"Hmph," She snorted, "I'd like to see that f.u.c.ker try anything after today. Only Cultivators with at least fifty Spiritual Pillars in their Cultivation Base or above the Transcendent Foundation Stage are ones that'll be able to bypa.s.s the Detection Array. And the Killing Array?"
Jane let out a sinister grin as she said, "It might only last a couple dozen uses, but every time you do use it, you can expect most Foundation Collapse Stage Cultivators to die."
"You became an Array Master? No, a Grandmaster?!" Atid's voice quivered as he asked.
Elizabeth might have been a once in a trillion talent with her performance in the Martial Tournament, but Jane was someone he himself had picked up and supervised for years. Her rise to the Spirit Realm had already absurd as it was, yet she had also reached such a level with Formations in just over a month?
"Relax, old man. I couldn't have done it without my master's teachings," Jane said. The master she was referring to was Kurt Keter as his legacy in formations was what had led her this far, this quickly.
"Heh," she snickered, "At this rate, you might get a heart attack after learning that Sun's at my level with Alchemy."
While Sophie and Atid were halfway shocked to death, Liam added, "I wouldn't be surprised if he were better at Alchemy than you are at Formations. That lucky b.a.s.t.a.r.d is off with Ellie and Master Yrre, and her level of Alchemy is literally beyond anything the people on Earth can fathom."
"Fair enough," Jane admitted.
A couple minutes pa.s.sed in silence until all of Jhan's ball of Core-like Death Qi was completely refined into the Monster Core. With the process complete, after Jane retrieved the Monster Core, she went over to Atid.
"Here," she said, "These are the Formation Keys."
Without the Formation Keys, the Arrays she had set up would only be operable by herself, its creator. Formation Keys were pa.s.sed to others as inscriptions that were branded to the body. Thus, while Atid was busy refining the Formation Keys onto his body, Jane went to the center of the Killing Array and slid the Monster Core in to power it.

When Atid finished refining the Formation Keys, he found Jane and the others going to the communal kitchen. After everyone took a seat, Atid asked, "So, what do you plan on doing now?"
With a sigh, Jane said, "I… I think I'll stick around for a couple days. It's been a while since I visited here, and if there's a chance I'll get to see that idiot get annihilated by his own Death Qi, It'll be worth the bit of lost time."
She turned to address Liam as she said, "Don't feel obligated to stick around if you don't want to. The most productive thing I'll be doing here is meditating and teaching some of my dojo's junior disciples."
"Hmm," Liam groaned, "Master Yrre wanted me to focus on getting experience through real battles, but everyone who'd be a worthwhile fight is too busy with the invasion of the aliens. I guess I'll stay for a couple days as well, since it won't make a difference."
