As the figure crested the glacier, I could finally get a good look at it. It was a ma.s.sive white wolf. Its eyes glowed blue, and streams of white ran out of its fur as if its very presence was freezing the environment around it. It looked at down at me for a while, seemingly deciding how to deal with me.

Then it lookup towards the sky, letting out a piercing howl that reverberated through the landscape. Its echo taking minutes to die down. When it did though, I realized it was no longer alone. An entire pack of wolves crested the glacier beside it. They paused only a moment before they charging at me.

They picked up speed as each step threw up ice behind them. Only once they closed in on my position did I realize the size of the wolves. Each one dwarfed the size of a car, threatening to overwhelm me as they poured towards me in a tide of white fur.

I immediately reacted, activating all the remaining lightning elements bringing my speed to its highest level as Ki coated my sword. As soon as the first wolf arrived, I ducked under its mouth filled with teeth longer and more deadly than my sword.

I impaled it through the chest then threw it backward, interrupting the charge of two of the wolves while the other three circled around.

They lep on me perfectly in sync, leaving no room to dodge. Even with my enhanced speed, I wasn't that much quicker than them. I blocked one with my sword knocking it backward and leaving it with a large gash that ran through one of its eyes.

Leaning back I managed to dodge the swipe of the second wolf, but the third had left me no time to react merely using my arm to block it from biting me in half. Its fangs sank into my arm. My st.u.r.dy body helped somewhat preventing its teeth from piercing all the way through, but even after I managed to throw it off I was left with four swallow punctures leaking silver blood onto the ground

I grit my teeth, ignoring the pain as the two wolves I had managed to delay were already lunging towards me. I activated all my Sword Ki as I slid under the attacking wolves slicing up at their necks as I forced the Ki to extend outside my blade, taking advantage of its now more st.u.r.dy nature.

I wasn't disappointed as the blade of Ki sliced through the wolves without any resistance, causing them to tumble to the ground and leaving me with only three opponents one of whom was half-blind.

The three wolves circled me seemingly looking for any opening, but I didn't give them any warily holding my sword ready for any attack.

It seems their patience wasn't eternal as they suddenly erupted in a flurry of movement their sword-like teeth threating to impale me as they moved in perfect harmony.

I used my new ability to extend Ki out of my blade to thrust at one of the wolves, impaling it through the mouth before they could reach me.

At the same time, I kicked back, sending a second wolf flying away as I turned barely managing to block the third wolf with my sword as its charge sent me sliding backward on the ice.

I grinned now there were two easy enough for me. They came running towards me their movements perfectly in synch. But their coordination wasn't enough as I ducked past one with my enhanced speed while using my sword to impale the other through the mouth.

With only one left, I spun to face it raising my sword as I swung downwards splitting its head in half and finis.h.i.+ng off the last of the wolves.

I collapsed, laughing one more set killed wondering what type of grade the tower was going to give me for finis.h.i.+ng off the wolves. I tried to catch my breath, hoping the next opponent would take its time as I lay there the cold ice helping to numb the throbbing pain from my injured arm.

I looked at the icy landscape pondering the beauty generated just for the sake of a simple battlefield.

Was this even a real place or just some artificial ground prepared by the tower. I wasn't left for long to wonder when I heard a cracking sound as if hundreds of figures were emerging from the ice.

I looked back at where it was coming from to see hundreds of zombies emerging from the ice. Struggling to pull the rotting bodies from their icy prison.

Realizing its best to strike before they fully extracted themselves, I lept towards my feet at started running in their direction.

As I closed the distance, I looked around for any other threats. That's when I spotted it standing behind the ma.s.s of zombies was a skeletal figure holding a book in one hand and with a swirl of black energy constantly rotating around its other. Its glowing blue eyes tracked me as I ran into the zombie h.o.a.rd.

I came to the front of the zombies, most of whom had managed to make their way out of the ice already. as I approached the front line attempted to claw at me with the clumsy attempts you would expect from a rotting corpse.

I easily avoided their strikes while swinging my sword in reply, easily decapitating five of them at once. Looking at them not even reacting to my swings, I wondered if this might be an easy fight for once.

My hopes were quickly dashed, though, as a black beam ripped through the air tearing a hole in my shoulder before I could even react. I stumbled backward as my blood poured out onto the snow.

Barely able to bring my sword up and cut down the zombies attempting to overwhelm me as I slowed from my injury.

Cutting away a circle of s.p.a.ce with slashes of my sword, I looked up again, seeing the black energy gathering in its hand.

I hastened my killing of the zombies plowing through their huddled ma.s.s using my superior strength and speed to cut down tens of them at a time as I tried desperately to reach the figure before it could fire more of those dangerous black beams.

All my struggles still left me moving excruciatingly slow. I was pus.h.i.+ng threw them, but there were thousands of them now. Their sheer ma.s.s was acting as the best cover for the mage as he prepared another strike.

Even as I left a trail of mutilated bodies in my wake, another black beam ripped through the air tearing its way through the zombies to reach me. This time I noticed in time and attempted to dodge, but I wasn't fast enough, and it still caught me in the leg, disintegrating a ma.s.sive chunk of my flesh and causing me to almost collapse to the ground as the pain-wracked through my body.

I wouldn't give up gritting my teeth as I forced myself to stand on the injured leg while fending off the oncoming zombies. I continued moving forwards determined to get to the b.a.s.t.a.r.d before he could send any more of those spells my way.

My blood stained the ice as I plowed my way through the zombies. My injuries and ma.s.s of opponents like giant chains attempting to pull me backward as I fought for each step, all while watching black energy gather in the figures palms.

My struggles weren't hopeless, though, as the zombies started thinning out the number seemingly not endless as hundreds of them died on my blade.

Eventually, I finally breached their defense only to be greeted with another black ray. I could barely react moving just enough so it wouldn't instantly kill me.

It took me in the stomach instead burning through my gut and causing my blood to pour out. I knew my time was now severely limited. But with no zombies between me and the mage, I knew I had a chance to take him with me.

I sprinted up the glacier, willing all of my energy to cover those last few meters as I managed to close the distance, raising my swords toward the figure that I realized was indeed a skeleton.

I brought my sword down, filled with all my reaming Ki. But it didn't slice the figure in half like I was expecting. Instead, it met with some invisible barrier holding back my sword strike inches from the creature.

I grit my teeth putting all my strange and desperation into my sword, attempting to slice through the s.h.i.+eld. My Ki seemed to respond, surging into my sword as I slowly broke through the s.h.i.+eld, swinging my sword downwards.

The delay was all the creature need though, as it managed to partially move out of the way of my sword stroke. Instead of slicing it in half, it merely sliced off one of its arms.

Before I had a chance to finish it off, it raised its other arm the black energy fully condensed as a black beam tore through my head, instantly filling my vision with black.
