Exactly at 8 AM, in front of Future High.

A small fancy looking bus was standing by the school's gate with 7 individuals standing beside it, all having various expressions on their faces.

Beep, beep.

"Hey teach, why aren't we leaving already?" Just as the sound of an alert came from his digital watch indicating that it was currently 8 o'clock sharp, Fred asked as he sent an impatient glance towards the apparently worried teacher.

"We are waiting for another 5 minutes, if n.o.body else arrives, then we will leave," the teacher replied with a forced smile before staring into a certain direction as a worried expression covered his face once again...

The teacher was obviously waiting for someone, and it seemed like he would gladly wait for him even for one more hour, let alone just one minutes, but half of those standing outside the bus were already getting impatient and annoyed by the useless wait…

'Where is he…' the teacher thought as his worry intensified by the second, he knew that he couldn't have the students wait much longer as the agreed time of departure had already arrived, but he...

While school usually only started at 8 o'clock, today was neither a school day nor a normal school event, it was the day that could potentially decide the future of those lucky students.

One's success as an Awakened who aspired to become a certified and possibly a renowned 'Extra' was mostly attributed to resources, both material and immaterial ones, and the Extra's Academy had both to offer.

As such, it was vital for all the present students to grab this opportunity to make their way into the Academy's doorsteps, that went without saying whether it was for those that had already managed to awaken their ability long ago with the help of their family's wealth and their natural talent or those who were lucky enough to awaken after using the Awakening Pill that they just received recently…

Due to these facts, it was quite natural for most of the students to be this impatient and annoyed about being delayed, for most of them, not only was this examination supposed to be their long awaited ticket for the path of success, but it was also the best way to ascertain their ability's true worth and show off in front of their fellow cla.s.smates, that was especially so for the new Awakened,,,

However, it didn't seem like the teacher was the only one who was worried as he waited for someone, as the golden haired beauty of the cla.s.s, Alice, seemed to be similarly concerned.

"Humph, teacher's really showing targeted concern once again, do we really have to wait for that useless 'Ordinary'?" Krig, a somewhat slim and tall young man who stood beside Fred, snorted as he targetedly threw shade on the teacher's behaviour after a few minutes had pa.s.sed…

"What do you-" the teacher tried to counter Krig's targeted accusation before stopping suddenly as the silhouette of the person he was waiting for came to his sight…

As he came closer and closer, running as fast as he could, the faint-blue haired youth with a somewhat handsome face and defined facial features stopped before the small crowd as he panted...

"Hah… hah… sorry for being this late, I tried to get here as fast as I could… hah…" the newly arrived youth, Chrome, said while trying to catch his breath…

He had left home the moment he was ready and ran over as fast as he could… He didn't really know what the exact meeting time was, but he understood that it was supposed to be early from the incomplete memories of alter Chrome, he would have even tried to be there much earlier, but he was restricted by the mysterious power that governed his reality exchange…

"Ah, the loser is here… Did you come to cheer for us as we take the examination or something? Hehe…" Krig snickered as he looked at Chrome sarcastically.

"Oh, we would do much better if you were to be our cheerleader, Chrome, too bad you won't be allowed to enter the examination to even take a look…" Fred added as he sported a fake sad expression for immersive sarcasm...

"That's too bad indeed... hahaha," Krig laughed, he was known as one of the two big bullies in the special cla.s.s, and while he wasn't that close to Fred due to their different social status, they would both always hop in and a.s.sist when it came to their favorite hobby, bullying.

As the two made fun of Chrome, the rest of the students' reactions weren't that much better, one of them gave him an unpleasant glance, while another seemed indifferent but still couldn't hide his slight disdain, with only Alice and the teacher seemingly showing a half smile, and Bryce who looked awkwardly at him...

"Ahem… I obviously wouldn't be as stupid as a certain someone to come and try the impossible. I was just lucky to have awakened an ability with the help of the school's sponsored pill, and thus I came to give the examination a try…" Chrome smiled as he showed that he didn't really care about the sarcastic reaction of this pair of bullies.

While the old Chrome might have been trying to lay low by accepting their bullying so that things won't escalate to the worst, the current Chrome believed that he would be able to achieve much as long as he didn't give up, so there was really no need to act cowardly anymore, especially since it was in his nature to step up to such bullies.

"Eh?" The pair looked at each other with dumbfounded expressions, it was old news that Chrome had one of the lowest Exos rating in the whole school, if not for his good grades that allowed him to enter as the last person qualifying for the special cla.s.s, he wouldn't be even part of it. In that case, if only seven students so far had managed to awaken in the special cla.s.s which had a collection of the students with the highest Exos rating in the whole cla.s.s, just how could Chrome be the eighth? Was this supposed to be some kind of a joke?

"You really managed to awaken an ability, Chrome?" Bryce, the one who had an awkward expression on his face a moment ago, and also Chrome's best friend in the normal reality asked as he showed an awkward smile…

"Yeah, I was actually planning on giving up and trying to pursue a normal university, but I decided to give it one last try yesterday by trying out the Awakening Pill, so that I won't have any regrets in the future and it somehow worked out!" Chrome replied as he faked a very happy expression, one that would suit someone as desperate as alter Chrome, while taking a quick glance at the awkward Bryce.

While it was true that he was Chrome's best friend in reality, in this parallel reality, their status was only that of borderline friends, which wasn't that strange considering the difference between Chrome and alter Chrome's personality.

"Oh! That's great then, I more or less did the same, and it also paid off, our luck is too great, haha." Bryce laughed it off as he showed some genuine happiness at the miraculous success of them both...

"That's great, Chrome!" as Alice finally managed to confirm Chrome's successful awakening, she seemed to be overwhelmed by happiness for some reason as she walked closer to Chrome and impulsively raised her arms towards him, wanting to celebrate the great news by giving him a hug, before stopping and quickly retracting her arms as she realised what was she about to do in front of her fellow cla.s.smates, turning her face the other way as she slightly blushed…

'What was I thinking of doing just now…' Alice thought as she felt incredibly embarra.s.sed.

"Ahem… Ahem… it's good that you succeeded, Chrome, congratulations. Now then, let's all board the bus, it's about time that we left, we don't want to be late for the examination," the teacher was already smiling brightly as he felt like he had removed a huge weight off his shoulders, feeling much lighter as he hurried the students to enter the small bus.

'Luckily it worked out, the first part of my task is completed…' the teacher thought...

"Hah? Why are you believing this loser that easily?! If anyone like this 'Ordinary' could awaken their ability just because they said so, then we could easily have the whole school partic.i.p.ate in the examination…" Fred, seemingly triggered by what he saw just now, doubtfully said, obviously trying to provoke Chrome, accusing him of being a liar...
