The explosion caused panic all over the town, and immediately, city guards closed all the city gates. Abium glanced around his surroundings and found the disappearance of thieves guild members.

He quickly tried to retain why a.s.sa.s.sins killed the Baron. At that time, He was in continuous training with Oliver, so he didn't know anything about the a.s.sa.s.sination.

After Abium trained for three months with Oliver, he came to this town and discovered Baron was already dead, and the new governor was appointed.

Baron Auguinare, he was a soldier with no families nor relatives to inherit his hereditary t.i.tle. Because of that, his name was soon forgotten by everyone after the appearance of chaos era.

No one knew who killed the Baron except some other higher officials. But Abium caught many rumors like it was an a.s.sa.s.sin from the enemy kingdom. Abium dismissed the thoughts and looked around his surroundings.

'd.a.m.n!... Thieves guild members were acting strange. I didn't hear any explosion that happened during Baron's a.s.sa.s.sination. But somehow, I changed the future without even knowing.'

Abium didn't know how he changed the future, but he suspected right away these thieves guild members involved in these events.

Meanwhile, Baron advanced towards the fort direction without even notifying anything to Abium and Helena.

A feeling of restlessness arose in Baron's mind. Baron felt this feeling a few times when he was in the military.

But all those events were the consequence of countless deaths, and he was only lucky enough to be remained alive.

Abium and Helena stood near the gate and looked at the direction Baron left.

A few shadowy figures movements caught Abium's attention. Those figures stealthy, moving towards the two city guards and to their direction from neighboring buildings. They covered regular black outfits and concealed their faces. Anybody could tell they were trained a.s.sa.s.sins.

"Helena! get ready for battle."

Abium muttered towards Helena's ears and clutched his sword, then dashed towards their direction.

He chose to confront them first before they arrive near the gate.

When she caught his words, Helena quickly drew her dagger, and within a few seconds, she overtakes him then spur towards the enemy.

Her speed was so fast that even he was hardly able to follow her movement. Abium instantly knew she already stepped into her next tier warrior rank.

Immediately Abium applied the scan function found out her strength and speed improved five times higher than the average human.

The sudden appearance of third-tier warrior startled the enemies a little, but they appeared to have already antic.i.p.ated these circ.u.mstances.

The a.s.sa.s.sin who led the group stepped forward from them and received her with a curved blade. Both of them collided against each other, and within a few seconds, both nearly destroyed nearby houses and stores.

Abium s.h.i.+fted his gaze towards the other a.s.sa.s.sins and quickly saw the changes. Out of all the remaining members, six of them were second-tier warriors, while the remaining two were third-tier warriors.

"Philip and I will hold that half-elf from escaping. Support Sam to apprehend that blonde girl."

One of the third tier warriors ordered the remaining a.s.sa.s.sins, then both of the third tier warriors advanced towards him and used their swords to slash.

"Who sent you?"

A chilling voice came from Abium's lips made the other second-tier warriors s.h.i.+ver in fear.

Abium gripped his sword and greeted their every slash. Each slash contains a yellow aura that emerged around his sword.

"W-Why did you even ask when you already knew the answer?"

The a.s.sa.s.sin named Philip responded with a forced smile, but Abium could tell he was also terrified deep inside.

"I know that viscount already targeted us but why he is aiming for the baron's head."

"H-ahahaha...ahem...y-you are worthy of an opponent praised by our vice-captain."

"Stop with your blabbering and answer my questions."

Abium responded with an aggressive tone towards the warrior.

"Even if you knew, that won't do any good to you. But I can promise you that your name will spread all over the kingdom for a.s.sa.s.sinating the n.o.ble. hahaha, fun, isn't it?"

Another a.s.sa.s.sin spoke with a mocking tone; then, both advanced to slash towards him. Abium immediately understood most of the enemy's intentions from them. He felt apologetic for the Viscount and others to underestimate him a little too much.

Abium slashed his sword towards both of the a.s.sa.s.sins utilizing his intermediate sword aura in a swift moment then caught them unprepared.

Despite that, both of them didn't even flinch. Then suddenly, both of the a.s.sa.s.sins' swords glowed a little, and Abium observed a basic sword aura enveloped the edges and hardly keeping their sword from cracking.

Abium clicked his tongue and glimpsed at Helena's battle. The a.s.sa.s.sin leader and other a.s.sa.s.sins encircled Helena in every way and made no room for her to escape.

He took a deep breath and used his intermediate sword skill aura slash towards both of them. He knew it consumes at least one mana, which was equal to the average human's total mana. But he didn't have any other option.

This time the yellow aura energy spread towards both of their warriors like two lightning bolt.

Once the aura touched their body, both of them suspended their movements. Both of their blade droppings sounds stopped all of the warriors' action.

"b.a.s.t.a.r.ds! why are you dropping your swords when facing against an enemy?"

Sam shouted and scolded Philip and another a.s.sa.s.sin in an angry tone. But no response came for his questions. Both of them felt lost control of their own body and felt their every part of their body gone numb. They couldn't breathe but could perceive what was occurring in front of them.

Both of them slumped on the spot without even knowing them, and thud noise awoke everyone from their stupor. Abium took both of their swords and stored inside his ring. Then he laid his sword at one of the a.s.sa.s.sin's neck and spoke.

"If anyone attempts to leave, then I will kill him."

A sudden stillness continued for a moment; then, all other warriors turned their eyes towards Helena, who now looked little battered. Abium immediately ran towards them without wasting any moment.

Philip and the other a.s.sa.s.sin were scared for a second when he moved.

Abium didn't have to bother about both of them.

Abium comprehended that his sword skill aura slash could even paralyze Watson for nearly half-minute.

Abium and Helena didn't waste too much time with the remaining warriors and knocked out all of them except their leader.

"I will keep an eye on them, so, go and support that old man. If he died, then we will be in deep trouble."

Helena replied in a weary voice then s.h.i.+fted her gaze towards the a.s.sa.s.sins. But there was no anger in her eyes; instead, it was reflecting intense killing intent. Abium glanced at them pitifully then went towards fortress direction.

Peoples were crying and scattering in every direction. The whole town was in complete chaos. When rus.h.i.+ng towards the fortress, Abium saw several soldiers were fighting with the a.s.sa.s.sins. He further noticed many thieves' guild members also creating chaos by stealing and threatening.

'd.a.m.n rats, I knew that guild members are up to no good.'

He silently cursed them, then fasten his speed towards the fortress.

Abium noticed several soldiers' lifeless bodies laid on the grounds while others were half dead with their limbs cut down.

Many soldiers screaming and painful moaning sound echoed at the entrance of the fortress. Around 30 soldiers laid on the ground. Some were already dead while others lost a limb or two. Only dread and terror were visible on their faces.

Abium understood they were all at least first-tier warriors, and some were second-tier warriors. But facing any higher tier, they were merely an ant.

He heard a loud noise resounded from inside the fortress, so he moved inside rapidly.

The view of the fortress in his mind was long gone. He saw everywhere was wrecked, and many areas were still burning from the explosion. Half of the guard tower looked destroyed on his right side.

Abium quickly stepped inside the great hall and saw multiple a.s.sa.s.sins besieged three warriors. On the farther end, Abium noticed the Baron struggling against two fourth-tier warriors.

Both of them covered their heads with a hood, which nearly prevented others from identifying them.

Abium signed in relief when he saw Baron was in better condition than what he had expected. When he entered the hall, everyone saw his arrival, but most of them instantly glanced at him with malicious eyes and soon returned.

Suddenly, a voice echoed with a fearful tone.

"F-Fools! Ki-Kill him quickly! T-That was the half-elf we were after. Don't forget the half-elf almost fatally wounded our vice-captain. Morons!"

One of the a.s.sa.s.sin suddenly stammered and yelled towards the other a.s.sa.s.sins. Abium immediately recognized that it was one of the warriors who surrounded him in the forest.

But here n.o.body paid much attention to him even after that warrior's bellows. Only 3 second-tier warriors and one third-tier warrior walked towards his direction.

"Stupid b.a.s.t.a.r.ds! d.a.m.n!"

Abium lightly smirked towards the pitiful warrior and stepped forward.

Baron proceeded to fight the two warriors and attempted to walk towards the armory, but he was continuously hindered by the two of them.

Abium didn't stop his walking towards the room where Baron was attempting to go inside.

"Don't get c.o.c.ky, kid! Just because you injured Watson a little, do you believe you can match against us? Now die!"

While roaring towards his direction, a second-tier warrior furiously stepped towards him forward and slashed his sword.

Abium swiftly evades the warrior's slash and stabbed two times then proceeded to walk. Meanwhile, the warrior stared at his chest downwards and noticed a hole where his heart was there.

A sudden cry echoed from that warrior along with a loud thud. Slowly the warrior took his last breath and also his call.

Within that moment, other a.s.sa.s.sin warriors spurred towards his direction then barred him from walking forward.

Abium applied his sword aura to prevent approximately five second-tier warriors and two 3rd tier warriors. Abium practiced his sword techniques to parry the opponents' attacks and casually cut the two of the second-tier warriors' neck without knowing them.

It was one of the unique intermediate sword skills named silent slash, which misleads the particular person's vision and hearing for a second. Anyone could easily block it if it were a one on one fight.

But in group fights, this silent slash skill was difficult to prevent by any warrior beneath the 4th tier.

Baron saw the changes and shouted towards the three soldiers who were battling against other a.s.sa.s.sins.

"Richard, Giles, Dorian! Help that half-elf brat. Don't let him die at all costs. Remember?"

"Yes, my lord."

The three soldiers responded in unison and rushed towards his direction to guard him. Although Abium wasn't in any bad situation, he was overwhelmed by the numbers. So when he overheard Baron's shout, he relaxed a bit and nodded towards Baron.

"Thanks, kid!"

Baron's kept his eyes on the opposite warriors and thanked Abium then a chilling ice elemental energy emerged around Baron's body.

At the same time, both of the opposition warriors unleashed their elemental energy. A fire elemental and earth elemental energy emerged then battled towards the ice element.

Abium and others noticed the walls and buildings destroyed one by one by fourth-tier warriors' fight.

Suddenly a different red dot appeared from outside his perception on the map. Without hesitation, he used the scan and saw the strength of the enemy was another fourth-tier warrior. Cold sweats dripped from his brow.

He immediately noticed that the enemy was advancing stealthily towards the Baron.

Abium moved towards multiple enemies and cast his blink spell, then disappeared from the place and reappeared a few meters away. His sudden disappearance confused the fight between enemies and baron's soldiers.

Within a few seconds, Abium ran towards the Baron, and everyone soon chased after him, and three of baron's soldiers also followed him.

Abium didn't have any time to explain, so he ran with everything he got. Within a few seconds, he entered the area where the Baron and the other two were fighting. At the same time, Abium saw the appearance of the warrior who stealthily moved behind Baron to attack him.

Abium cast another blink spell and dashed towards the Baron more quickly. When Baron saw Abium running towards his direction, he noticed something was wrong. But the other two warriors didn't give him any opportunity and attacked him.

At the same time, the warrior who waited for ambus.h.i.+ng moved his sword towards the Baron's back.

Abium advanced faster, but he was five footsteps away from the sword. Even if he uses all his strength; he won't be able to stop that sword.
