Helena glanced around inside the underground bas.e.m.e.nt and saw few children caged in a prison cell. Her restraint over her emotions touched its peak.

She understood they were different from ordinary children in a single glace. Every one of them shackled inside the prison cells. All of them remained fragile due to starvation, and their eyes were dull, and their empty stomach made noise from time to time.

She s.h.i.+fted her sight to Abium, who hid near the cupboard and then returned her gaze towards that fat slave merchant and the guard. Her unexpected arrival made the guard and the slave merchant to startle. Abium shook his head and slowly emerged from the hiding and stood after her.

"Shall I kill him?"

A calm voice came out of her mouth as she pointed her dagger at that fat slave merchant. Although her voice seems to be in a quiet tone, her action proved the opposite.

"Not now, but you may kill that guar-"

Before he finishes his speech, she sprints towards the guard and crushes the head of that guard using her bare hand.

If it was before, he might have some opportunity to withstand her attack, but after she successfully broke into a third-tier warrior, her physical power enchanted to five times higher than average humans. His head shattered apart, and blood and brain splatted everywhere.

Slave merchant who stood nearby that guard began to quiver all over in horror. He attempted to scream for help from outside, but no sound came out of his mouth.

"You are not a native of this kingdom. Who are you?"

That slave merchant s.h.i.+vered at Abium's inquiry and moved two steps behind. But Helena's hand clutched his nape from behind and caught him from not running anywhere.

"Y-Yes s-sir. I-I am from the W-Wadel kingdom."

Abium suddenly noticed a tattoo on his right hand and narrowed his eyes. He recalled his memory and eventually recognized that tattoo. It was one of the symbols of an organization that controlling the kingdom's slave trade.

A symbol of a snake with three heads, and each of them seems to hiss at each other.

Doubt appeared in his mind and immediately checked his memory about anything related to that organization, and all he got was an only disappointment. None of these organizations had any rights to slave anyone involuntarily.

There were three types of slaves appeared in the slave market. They were dept slaves, crime slaves, and war slaves. Debt slaves had borrowed money and then failed to pay it back. It's a kind of debt that a person owes social superiors, or a neighbor, or someone else. Then he might be seized and made to work it off, or perhaps his family could be sold into slavery to pay for it.

Crime slaves were slightly different from debt slavery; they would be more like forced prisoner labors. War slaves were prisoners of war that could make them into slaves, servants, adoptees, or sacrifices among nations. So without any proper approval enslaving an ordinary resident means it's treason against the kingdom.

Abium once again checked the children who slaved inside the prison cell and noticed there was a total of 6 kids, including peter, who laid unconscious on the farther end of the prison. He immediately pointed his sword at that fat slave merchant and questioned him.

"Why are you enslaving normal kids?"

"S-Sir, I-I don't k-know anything. I-it's an order from higher-ups, sir!"

Abium spanked the slave merchant's face and pressed his sword further towards the slave merchant's neck. A slight wound appeared on that merchant's throat, but still, that slave merchant didn't prepare to divulge anything.

"Maybe they are backed by some n.o.bles. But why they target only children?"

"I have no idea. But there is something unique about these children."

Helena checked those children and while Abium continued.

"Their hair colors and eyes colors look different from ordinary peoples. They have the same red color as peter's hair color. These types of children were rarely seen everywhere on the continent. But I couldn't figure out their purpose."

Abium's eyes were flickering with killing intent. Suddenly that slave merchant's eyes became white and gave both of them a creepy look. Abium felt there was a sudden change in that slave merchant's behavior. That slave merchant took a dagger from his waist and responded in a sinister tone, not like before.

"We are the eyes and ears of the Three Heads! We will once again rule over the continent."

After he spoke in a sinister voice, that slave merchant's eyes became bloodshot, and slowly blood appeared from his eyes, nostrils, ears, and mouth. Then he directly stabbed that dagger into his chest and muttered in some unknown words.

Abium became alert and grabbed Helena's hand then tried to move away from there. Bur, an illusionary image of a dark shadowy figure of a three-headed snake, appeared behind that slave merchant caught their attention.

Alb.u.m and Helena both frozen in terror when they noticed the eyes of that snake figure. Meanwhile, all the children in the bas.e.m.e.nt suddenly fell on the ground. That three heads looked at that slave merchant with pity look, then that snake s.h.i.+fted its direction towards Abium and Helena.

Both felt a ton of weight pressed against their bodies. A feeling of helplessness came across Abium's mind. He couldn't breathe. Nor could he move his muscle an inch. Helena didn't hold against that pressure emitting from that figure from the very beginning and lost conscious; meanwhile, Abium felt even more pressured.

A sudden calmness appeared, and he started to think of some way to get everyone out of this situation. Besides, he never antic.i.p.ates this being even existing in this continent.

[A foreign ent.i.ty attempting to invade your mind. Block? Yes, /No]

A notification screen appeared in front of his vision, but this time, he noticed a difference. A red-colored screen appeared on his sight. Abium didn't wait for a single moment and answered 'yes' in his mind. A sudden mysterious wave appeared from Abium's body and smashed at that snake figure.

A pitiful cry of that snake echoed inside the bas.e.m.e.nt. That figure continued to hiss at Abium for a few seconds and disappeared from that underground bas.e.m.e.nt. n.o.body moved a muscle from there for a few minutes.

Abium panting heavily due to the pressure, and he slowly walked towards the nearby bench and stood there silently for a minute. Slowly he went towards Helena and checked her pulses. When he noticed she just laid unconscious, he let out a sigh of relief. Abium felt his own body almost lost his control when that figure looked at his direction.

'What the h.e.l.l was that? I never saw anything like that freakish creature. d.a.m.n, I almost died if not for Azolla's defensive function.'

'It is the second time I nearly killed myself after I came back.'

He wiped his sweat on his brow and unlocked the prison to gather everyone. After a few minutes, everyone began to wake up from their unconsciousness state.

"W-Where is that monster?"

Helena's panic voice echoed suddenly inside the bas.e.m.e.nt. Abium shook his head.

"I don't know anything. When I woke up, I didn't see that creature. So I thought it spared us out of some pity."

Helena slowly walked towards that slave merchant who laid on the ground while listening to his story. She checked his hand and shook her head.

"He's dead."

"Sorry. I didn't expect asking about that organization's motive would trigger something like this"

"Nah. It's not your fault. If not for your information, I may still be working for that viscount."

Abium chuckled then walked forward to inspect the children. He checked their pulse and let out a sigh of relief once again.

"They are only unconscious. We need some help to send these children to their parents."

"Where is peter?"

Suddenly Helena thought of the kid and asked him.

Abium pointed his finger at the corner where peter soundlessly sleeping.

"Well, I think everything worked we-."

Helena didn't finish her words, but suddenly footsteps heard from the outside the bas.e.m.e.nt. Abium glanced up and perceived there were 5 to surrounding the entrance of that bas.e.m.e.nt door.

'Are there still more?'

Both exchanged a glance, and Abium gestured her to stay here and protect those children, and he moved outside.

On the outside, he saw there was a total of seven enemies waited there to attack at any moment. He immediately checked their strength and noticed there were two third-tier warriors among them.

Abium didn't wait further and stepped out of the bas.e.m.e.nt. A warrior holding a broadsword on his hand then pointed that towards him and ordered.

"Who are y' all? Where is our boss?"

Abium was surprised a little because he noticed their overall strength was higher than the one that guards the building. Abium gazed at the fellow who ordered him and shook his head. He didn't want to hear any more ramblings from these criminals.

From their attires, he recognized they were some bandit gang members or criminals. He saw a total of seven warriors holding crude weapons on their hand and began to encircle him. He didn't waste any mana nor spend too much time.

Within a few minutes, there laid a few lifeless bodies on the ground, and a warrior who ordered him about the whereabouts of that fat slave merchant was tied up. His arms and legs bound with a small rope, and his mouth covered with cloth. Tears were flowing down from his eyes.

"How are the kids?"

"They appear to be alright. Kids will wake up one by one soon."

Abium nodded at Helena's response and removed that cloth from the warrior's mouth then questioned him in a tired tone.

"Why are you working for that Slave organization?"

An ordinary third-tier warrior might able to work as a servant in many n.o.ble households, but Abium didn't understand why they go on a path of criminals.

"I won't tell you even if you kill me."

Abium took a deep breath, then walked away from that warrior then sat on the broken chair. He was too tired even to ask any questions at that warrior, so he thought this might be handing it to torture expert and said a few words.

"Helena, your turn."

Immediately she nodded her head and walked towards the warrior. Once she went near that warrior, she unsheathed her dagger from her sheath and cut right through his neck.

Abium dumbly stared at her dagger, slowly cut that warrior's throat.

Abium's mind went completely blank for a second, and he didn't know whether to laugh or cry. That pitiful warrior holds his neck and drops dead within a few seconds. Once everything was over, she quietly moved from there and stood right behind him.

A silence took over the area, and after a long pause, he asked her.

"Why did you kill him?"

"You told me to."

A quick reply came from her mouth made him stand up from the broken chair.

A headache began to appear whenever he starts an argument with her.

"You are supposed to torture him!"

Helena clicked her tongue and silently attempted to walk inside the bas.e.m.e.nt, but Abium stopped her and threw a scroll towards her and continued his talk.

"I took that magic scroll from that warrior's pouch. It's a summoning scroll. Whoever we are dealing with are not normal guys."

"It doesn't matter. I will kill whoever captured my sister."

Abium bitterly smiled then walked inside that bas.e.m.e.nt to inspect the children. One by one, everyone regained their consciousness and watched both of them vigilantly.

A small figure slowly ran towards Helena from the corner. Abium noticed it was peter and chuckled. She picked him up and asked politely.

"Oh! Dear, how is your body? Do you feel anything abnormal?"

Peter shook his read repeatedly and hid behind her.

After one by one, other kids walked near her and looked at her with curious gazes. Helena answered every question, and within a few moments, Abium noticed everyone became chatting in a cheerful atmosphere.

"Helena! It's time to go."

He asked others to prepare, and everyone walked out of that house.

, Then both escorted those kids out from that hideout and moved towards that nearby village direction.
