He also saw those skeletons were pulverized and crushed violently. There was no sword cut shown on those bones.
A few minutes later, Abium finally overheard a battling noise ahead. Snow, like a fox, emerged on his sight! Its eyes were bottomless sky-blue, and that figure seems to be struggling with all those Elite skeleton soldiers.
Once he deep looked at that figure, Abium spontaneously recognized it's a beast transformation! Who is that?! He only heard about the beast transformation from others in the past. Beast transformation was slightly different from the warrior technique, and it based on how much pure ancestral line force they possess inside their bodies.
Abium soon thought it must be Umi's mom.
'Umi is too young to train beast transformation.'
Following Umi's mother, Nicolaus was also battling those skeletons and defending Umi against any attacks. Instantly, Abium dashed ahead and joined the fight.
There were a total of fourteen Elite skeleton soldiers that encircled them. But within a few moments, Abium and others quickly exterminated those skeletons. Because Abium joined that fight, it didn't take too long to slay those undead skeletons. Suddenly the Umi's mom turner her fox head towards his direction then slowly spoke,
"Who are you?"
Nicolaus soon intervened.
"He is the one who saved you, Mrs. Fennelis."
"Oh? Thank you, mister. My name is Fennelis, also thank you for protecting us yesterday. If not for your help, I think we both might be long dead inside that slum!"
Fennelis bowed her head with the utmost respect.
Hearing Fennelis words, Abium stunned for a while but quickly smiled. With the information he remembered about beast kin, they would never bow their heads towards anyone other than those who possess higher bloodlines.
Abium never imagined she would bend towards a half-elf because beast kin despised the humans for enslaving them and only maintain a neutral relations.h.i.+p with elves.
When their G.o.ds got killed in the ancient war, elven G.o.ds didn't go to support. That made all the beast tribes lost their trust towards elves. When the G.o.ds knew they were going to die, they used every part of their divinity and gave the future generations hope. They split all of their divine power and gave that to all those beast kins in the maternal world.
Abium remembered the myth and thought how sorrowful their life was. If not for that beast emperor, Light G.o.d church members might already kill every beast kins in this continent. He quickly dismissed those thoughts and responded with a smile on his face.
"I only did what I believed of truly right, Madam! And my name is Abium."
Suddenly, When Nicolaus overheard their conversation from a little far yelled.
"W-What? Then who are you? What did you do with my friend's brother?"
"Quiet down, Nicolaus! I don't remember much about him besides his name. I merely used his name to enter the Fortress, that's all! Well, you never did suspect anything, did you?"
"d.a.m.n b.a.s.t.a.r.d!"
Nicolaus started cursing at Abium. Meanwhile, Abium noticed Fenallis's beast form gradually diminished and restored to normal. He immediately checked her information and figured it was a regular beast transformation.
If she manages to transform into an Elite beast transformation, her pure strength would be sufficient to kill all those undead soldiers without his cooperation.
'If she was an elite, then she might rival normal third-tier warriors!'
While Abium was in thought, Fennelis suddenly started talking.
"What are we going to do next? Nicolaus informed me that we are in some demi-plane. I don't know much regarding the demi planes, but I remembered a person must there to maintain it. Otherwise, it won't exist on its own."
"Yes! The demi-plane possesses no will. But first, we have to accomplish this mission and discover further about other things."
Fennelis approved at Abium's reply then he informed them what he witnessed at the heart of this island.
"That Fort appears heavily guarded by those undead skeletons. And I witnessed a death knight spoke in a human language! And it stated their master commanded them to capture us. I don't understand how they can interact."
"Why are you, startled? They are also living creatures, right? Well, I don't know much about any undead."
When heard Fennelis response, Nicolaus also nodded in approval. Abium didn't say anything because, to them, it was normal, but he battled with them for years and grasped how they were supposed to act.
Undead only obey necromancers commands, and they don't interact with another undead. But what he witnessed there made him trouble genuinely. If the necromancers created those skeletons with emotions, Abium knew the mainland would be ravaged even before the invasion of demons and devils.
Abium shook his head and glanced at the screen in the sky.
The number displayed fifty-four, which means he still had to kill almost 150 undead skeletons in the remaining time.
"I believe we need to minimize their number. Otherwise, those number itself sufficient to overwhelm us."
Abium agreed with Fennelis's judgment, and everyone proceeded towards the middle of the island. With the guidance of his scan function, they easily ambushed and killed those undead skeletons one by one. At the same time, Abium found some tree resins from Skunk Lavender trees.
The Skunk Lavender tree would produce black resins if skinned those outer layers. When Abium noticed those trees, an idea appeared in his head. A plan to destroy them in a single attack. But he requires those resins in vast quant.i.ties and finally requested others to collect those resins. At first, they found it suspicious, but following he revealed his plan, they agreed.
Around the time they finished, the false sun slowly descended towards another side, and blackness spread everywhere. But no moon arrived. Finally, Abium noticed some stars appeared in the sky and provided some light to travel. How the demi-plane also possess stars? A thought appeared in his head.

Once he noticed the numbers, he halted his progress and furrowed his eyebrows. They were hunting continuously, but after a few ambushes, they soon discovered no skeletons appeared on the surroundings. He thought all those undead were inside that Fort.
An hour later, all arrived on the opposite side of that Fortress and noticed it was in a defensive mode.
It remained heavily defended by those elite skeletons, and ballistae installed on the wall! If they went anywhere near that fort wall, Abium knew long arrows would kill him in the subsequent moment. He also noticed his mana almost restored completely.
Abium now left with two choices, one was to flee from the island, and the other was to fight ahead. Abium preferred the latter because he didn't know what risks held outside this island. He advised others to remain outside and proceeded to work based on the plan.
Due to the presence of darkness, he quickly arrived next outside the fort wall without any problem. Although he didn't hold any climbing spikes with him, he considered using the magic spell now.
"Blink"
He cast the s.p.a.ce magic spell and directly teleported above the fort wall and discovered ballistae placed in orders. Fortress might look stable and invincible, but in the presence of a mage, it was just a tall building.
Without spending any time, Abium slowly calculated there was a sum of 20 ballistae on the front fort wall and figured another side might have the equivalent amount. Also, he noticed there was twenty undead stood on the lookout at any point to fire those ballistae.
He knew that he might able to deceive ordinary elite skeleton soldiers' senses, but he won't be able to escape from the a.s.sa.s.sins.
Without alerting anyone, he quickly walked towards those elite skeleton soldiers and stealthily killed a few elite skeletons on the outpost. At the same time, he soundlessly chopped those strings on those ballistae.
While he was slaughtering the 14th elite skeleton soldier in the darkness, a skeleton noticed the unexpected disappearance of several undead soldiers. Suddenly that Elite skeleton soldier saw Abium and instantly blow the horn. Abium smirked even though he perceived his arrival already exposed.
Remaining six Elite skeleton soldiers brought their weapon and dashed forth to confront him. But, Abium didn't grant them any opportunity and beheaded those surviving skeleton soldiers one by one on the fort wall.
Eventually, a high number of elite skeleton soldiers, three death knights, and a human-like figure emerged from the inside. Abium grinned at them viciously then saw a human form. The form appears to be an older man with white whiskers. But his face was burned on one side and looked creepier. Abium disturbed a bit when he noticed the person who commanded these undead soldiers were a human being.
But the next moment, Abium brought out multiple sacks created from large petals of wind root flowers and tossed it towards those groups of skeletons. During the last few hours, Abium and others secured approximately a hundred packs of Skunk Lavender tree resins.
Black resin scattered everywhere, and wherever it dropped, a rotten stench extended out from there. Abium speedily launched those within a few seconds. A 'Red orb' spell emerged on his hand.
The old figure suddenly sniffed and hastily retreated away from there at high speed. But Abium didn't wait when that figure to reach ten meters away, and he directly threw that 'Red orb' towards the heart of that crowd.
At the same time, Abium leaped from that fortress wall and instantly cast 'Blink' spell threefold and arrived 60 meters apart from the Fortress. But still, Abium didn't halt there and start sprinting towards Nicolaus and others.
A huge 'boom' sound resounded from inside that Fortress, and he noticed the fortress wall started to crack by that bang. A sizeable broken part of the wall tore from the rear and crashed right before him. If he paced one step quicker, he would be dead already.
Abium almost scared out of his wits and hurriedly evaded other small stones and eventually entered into the woods. A few drops of cold sweats appeared on his face, and his limbs were s.h.i.+vering uncontrollably due to the life and death moment.
Even though he encountered many dangers, that didn't mean he was not scared of death. He knew how death hurts, so he doesn't fancy to die once again. He signed in relief once he entered a safe place. A grin emerged on his face as he looked at the Fortress. The whole Fortress was burning with fire and provided light to the surrounding.
A hand grasped his arm from behind caused him to jumped up and drew the sword. But after noticing it was Nicolaus, he loosened.
"H-Hey! It's me! d.a.m.n, what was that? Is that we collected earlier?"
"I, too, didn't antic.i.p.ate the resin would do this much work."
Fennelis and Nicolaus glanced at each other and chatted.
"Skunk Lavender tree was not located in our kingdom side and rarely seen in some northern areas. But here in this pocket dimension its appears everywhere."
Abium uttered those words and looked up at the sky. Even in the darkness, the screen appeared brightly.
'Number of kills increased from 80 to 160. Well! I believe other skeletons were still half-dead, and some may escape from the blast.'
"Okay! Let's go and kill those remaining skeletons."
Nicolaus grumbled, and everyone slowly moved towards the Fort. After a few minutes, the fire began to quiet down. Half of the front gate already crumbled, and the flame slowly started to soothe down. The fire purified all those skeletons, and only ashes rested on the ground.
A few meters away from where they stand, a few skeletons were attempting to put out the fire using water. Abium and others didn't remain there any longer and killed all the remaining skeleton soldiers.
After a few minutes, all of them stood before the hall of the Fortress, and Abium beheaded the last a.s.sa.s.sin hiding in the shadows. Suddenly he noticed Umi stood behind them, s.h.i.+vering and appeared to be scared of something.
He immediately saw a shadow figure moving towards them at an unimaginable speed.
"Careful!!"
Once Abium warned others, he immediately took Umi with his hand and stared vigilantly.
He noticed a shadow figure once again moved towards Nicolaus, and in the next second, Nicolaus left wrist was cut off, and blood splattered everywhere. Followed by that, Fennelis panicking scream reverberated inside the hall while pointing her finger towards Abium's chest. He instantly looked below and saw the Umi was coughing up blood.
