The Witch's Rebirth 21 Always Broke?

The supernatural had a hard life. If you weren't lucky enough to have been born powerful or mated to the powerful then your life expectancy is under twenty-five. So with magic came great responsibility, the greater danger, and highest maintenance cost.

Most of one income went into spells, potions, and artifacts. Believe me, when I tell you that witches and wizards were always broke unless you were a coven master or the master of the city then it's you making the big bucks. Those positions earn good money from both the council and with the estate that came with the position but to get the job wasn't easy. At the end of my last life, I was master of my city even if I didn't have everything under control but I was making good headway that was until my deal with the devil.

"Is that a mark?" I asked as a gleam of white line caught my eye.

"No"

There was sparkles for a moment. Ronnie glared at me. But in front of her, the larger piece of skin had a clear defect. There was a white stripe on one side.

I wasn't sure what had happened but it wasn't made by a normal item. It was good proof to present to the council. And Mr. Knight.

It looks s.h.i.+ny and the aura was off but the line was so fine I had missed it last time. Defiantly something worthy of my interest and so complicated that amazed me a little. Digging into it I felt raw power and flinch. THere also was a wall that with my weak powers I couldn't unravel. This was going to be annoying I really needed to take a bit more risk and quickly close the case.

"Wait, I think it's just a tan line. He did wear a very flashy gold chain. Look at this!" she said showing me a picture of the happy couple together.

I didn't think it was a flashy gold chain or something common. It clearly was the work of a protection spell like my tattoos or an artifact. I really hated my past self for being so foolish. Then again I was very young at the time.

The hint of rose aura, touch me as I move the tattoo over to the other side. Recently that area was protected with infuse spells in a mirror effect had engraved a little into the skin. It meant that shortly before he died he was in a fight or was in danger.

"Who was the man?" I asked her curious about his link to magic.

Pausing for a moment then Ronnie looked taken back. It was as if she really didn't want to tell me but eventually, she looked me in the eye.

"Jamey blue eyes he has a rap sheet, Fernando Sinclair the billionaire baby cousin and he was married to Rae White as in White industry." She said glaring.

Another curveball that I didn't know until the end of the month last time. I hated Rae White. She was a headline walking. The girl was beautiful after all she was once a supermodel but retired to take over the family business. She knew how to work the media and kept a high profile doing lots of charitable things, the country loves her, she was the untouchable, and ruthless in a way that made Al capo look like Mother Teresa.
