Jose walked through nonchalantly, what came into his sight beyond the gate was a dark and deathly forest. A green smog covered the ground thinly, there were webs scattered across the trees, some with small spiders the size of someone's palm on them.
Unfortunately, none of those spiders were horned spiders. Taking a closer look a realising there were none around Jose realised it was likely due to others coming through and rinsing the place clean. Shrugging his shoulders there was only one thing else he could do.
Taking his quick and steady steps he walked into the forest all along, something other players would see as suicidal, yet Jose did it without hesitation. He continued to walk for another minute straight until he finally saw what he needed. It was on the ground as due to its nature it wasn't able to create webs.
The spider was black with yellow strips, on top of its head above its eyes was a small horn that stuck out about 5cms. Unfortunately, unlike most games which might tell you the stats of the monster just from looking at it, Second World was not such a game. If you wanted to see the stat, you needed the skill a.n.a.lysis Eyes which could only be acquired later in the game once players get out of the Town of Beginnings.
Readying his staff Jose cast his only spell, Earthquake, which he was still unsure whether or not it was good. The ground beneath the horned spider cracked apart, revealing a hole slightly larger than it. The spider fell into the hole and it closed up, killing it instantly, Joe was unsure as to whether or not that was a rare chance. However, taking it into consideration, it could only work against small enemies, which also made it rather perfect for the beginning stages of the game.
A screen appeared in the corner of his eyes.
[2 Exp Gained]
It was rather minuscule when compared to the exp bar near the top of his character screen. But it was also the first step towards a level up. Each level up gave him 5 stat points and 1 skill point. Skill points were used to level up skills, the higher level a skill the more skill points needed to level it up.
Fortunately, to get Earthquake to level 2 it only required 1 skill point. That's why he needed to level up faster, he didn't have the double exp bonus for long and needed to make good use of it.
Jose began his slaughtering spree, he killed another 9 horned spiders before two messages appeared in front of him, slightly startling him as he wasn't paying attention to his character screen.
[Level Up]
[Low Mana]
Looking at his character screen he realised that he had no more mana left, it seemed that using Earthquake took 1 mana for each use. Fortunately, with that final kill, he managed to level up to level 1. He gained his 5 stat points and 1 skill point.
Jose stood in the middle of the Forest of Spider, staring at his character screen wondering which path he would follow. He wasn't stupid enough to just dump all his stat points into Wisdom, nor would he dump it all into any other stat. He needed to think about it logically to create a perfect character for his playstyle.
Finally coming up with a decision he decided to put 2 points into Wisdom, 2 points in Vitality, and 1 point into Strength. He might as well considering he was able to use his closer quarter combat training from the military in-game. It would become pretty useful whenever he runs out of mana.

It still looked rather unimpressive, but it was a start, a start to his very long journey to reach the top where he'll begin to dominate his son in law in the very game he cares so much about. Jose couldn't wait, so, instead of using his newly recovered mana he decided to try out his physical fighting abilities.
Although he was able to go back and claim the mission, he was currently preoccupied with testing out the game. He felt a thrill in fighting, his body felt young and free again, something he enjoyed thoroughly. He wanted to enjoy that feeling while it lasted.
Jose walked around the trees, searching for a new opponent, not caring for what it was or how strong it was. Finally, after a few seconds, a spider the size of his foot jumped out at him, leaping from a tree branch.
Jose was neither surprised nor fl.u.s.tered; reacting in a calm manner Jose reached out and grabbed onto the spider's leg before throwing it at the ground. Once it was on the ground, Jose whipped out his staff and began to brutally whack at the spider over and over again.
Unlike most RPG games which would either censor the brutally murdered spider or just have it disappear and turn into exp; Second World decided against both options and kept it somewhat realistic, although it would disappear over time, for a short period the corpse of the monster would remain where it was.
Jose also managed to get 10 exp from that one spider, a wide smile flashed across his face when h realised how much exp the spiders give. Readying his staff he went to find more, his eyes peeled towards the treetops and ground, trying to spot anything.
Whenever Jose came across a spider, he would either brutally butcher it with his staff or one-shot it with his magic.
He continued to do this for an hour, his level went up tremendously before it reached a threshold, in which he wasn't able to advance any further. The exp needed to level up was too much, not to mention the exp he was gaining from killing spiders was slowly decreasing. Now, whenever he killed a horned spider it wouldn't give him a single piece of exp.
Jose halted in his tracks before looking at his character screen; he hadn't stopped once to use his skill points and stat points for a second. Instead, he began saving them up to give himself a ma.s.sive power boost whenever he feels like it.

Jose didn't think too much about where he was putting his stats, he continued to roughly put them in the same pattern that he did last time. He put 18 into Wisdom, 15 in Vitality, 10 into Strength, then 2 into Evasion and 1 into Defence.
Looking at his stats Jose smiled proudly. 'Oh yeah, now that's the stats of someone that's going to be dominating this server.'

Jose was also in so much of a rush first time he levelled up that he forgot to use his skill point, meaning he currently had 10 skill points on him. Unfortunately, he only had Earthquake, so, like the newbie he was, Jose dumped almost all his skill points into Earthquake, 3 to be exact. Levelling it up 2 times.
[Earthquake Lv 2]
[Description: Break the ground beneath your opponent's feet, surprising them and dismantling their balance with a small chance of their limbs getting caught in the ground.]
[Effect: 40 Magical Damage]
[Cooldown: 3 Seconds]
Moving around, Jose looked for an opponent to test his new Earthquake on. Finally, after a minute of searching, he came across a worthy opponent. A spider with the height of a toddler, reaching most people's waists, along with the length and width of 1 – 2 metres.
Jose smiled at the thought of how much exp killing that spider would give him. Not wasting a second Jose pointed his staff at the spider and cast Earthquake, the ground shook, opening three holes rather than 1. The holes were slightly larger than they were at level 0; however, they were enough to trap the spider's limbs.
The spider's abdomen sunk down due to its hind legs getting trapped underground; Jose looked at his character screen and realised the spell used 3MP per use rather than 1 but looking at the trapped spider Jose had to give it to the developers, it was worth it.
Jose cast Earthquake one more time, trapping another two legs, the third hole missed its target but that didn't bother Jose, 5 out of 6 holes is a rather amazing accomplishment. Now, onto the real fun part of the fight.
Jose sprinted over to the spider, his staff raised in the air. The spider struggled at the sight of an opponent, its last remained legs swung around, barely sc.r.a.pping Jose's leg, halving his HP in one hit. Jose felt cold sweats where he saw such damage, then he got even more excited.
Making sure to keep an eye on the spider's remaining legs, his staff swung down, smas.h.i.+ng the spider in the head, pounding it against the ground. Jose retreated a couple of steps, dodging the spider's attack by getting out of its range before going back in for another hit.
Jose continued to do his. .h.i.t and run strategy before noticing a hole repairing itself, allowing the spider to free its three hind legs. Jose retreated back before casting another two Earthquake spells, this time targeting the front legs, disabling the spider's ability to attack.
Then his. .h.i.t and run strategy resumed. By the end of it, the spider was a b.l.o.o.d.y mess, its head had sunken into its skull from Jose's repeated beatings. Its legs had been crushed from the multiple times they had been forced into the ground.
Finally, with Jose's final hit it had died.
[50 Exp Gained]
[1x Small Loot Bag]
Jose's forehead was covered in sweat, he hadn't worked so hard in years, ever since he quit the military, he hasn't ever gotten such a workout. Looking at the clock in the corner of his eye he noticed he still had one more hour before the pod would kick him out of the game.
Jose took out the small look bag from his inventory, it was a small white bag that fits in the palms of his hand. Opening it up, another message appeared.
[Small Loot Bag Opened]
[Rewards: 1x Magician's Running Shoes; 5x Low Mana Potions; 2x Low Health Potions]
Jose was quite excited for his find, he immediately took off his sandals and popped on the running shoes. They weren't exactly the Nike shoes that people would expect but they were much more comfortable in comparison to the sandals, having some actual support for his soles. They were light brown with black shoelaces; fortunately, when equipping them Jose didn't have to tie his shoes.
[Magician's Running Shoes]
[Effect: 3 Agility; 2 Evasion; 1 Defence]
[Requirements: Magician Cla.s.s]
Looking around, Jose's expression turned to confusion when he realised he didn't have a clue as to where he was. When he had been on a spider killing spree, he just kept going and going, in a straight line without thinking. Jose pulled out his screen and went into the map, deciphering where he was.
He was surprised to find out he had run 30 minutes away from the town, he was currently rather deep into the Forest of Spiders. It made sense as to why he managed to find such a large spider, there was no way developers would put something so close to the starting towns.
Realising how deep he was into the Forest of Spiders caused Jose was frown; but after looking around and noticing no danger he shrugged his shoulders and began his journey back, running in his new shoes felt like heaven compared to the sandals.
What Jose failed to notice, however, was the several dozen red eyes staring at his fleeting figure, hanging from the branches. Their large, black legs stuck out from the shadow, stinking into the tree making their way to the ground. They began to follow behind Jose.
