Her heartbreaking inside as a wall appeared before her blocking her way from her small shred of hope of escaping. Hearing his footsteps grow nearer, her body trembled out in fear as she pressed her body against the wall turning her head slowly to look at him. Her eyes widen at the instant sight of him as the gathering tears blurred her vision, yet she could still see his cold void eyes gazing at her with a flas.h.i.+ng dangerous glint in them. Her heart raced as the dark aura around him increased and her bottled scream in fear suddenly came out as his hand reached out to touch her.
Hearing her screams in terror from the small office across the hall a nurse on night duty that had been dozing off stood up in alarm instantly rus.h.i.+ng over to the hospital room. Slamming the door open the nurse quickly turned on the lights rus.h.i.+ng over to the screaming girl. Her head tossed back and forth as she tried to move her tied arms up from there restrains. The girl had suffered from such horrible nightmares that the doctors feared that one night she would try to harm herself and requested for her to have her arms tied down at night.
"Miss! Miss, please wake up! It's only a nightmare!" The nurse tried to smooth the screaming girl as she brushed back her hair from her face trying to avoid touching the bandages placed on the girl's eyes. Quieting down the nurse hushed the waking hair soothingly as she patted her hair softly.
"It's alright, it was just another nightmare." The nurse quietly told her with a small smile, going still the girl turned her head in the direction of the nurse's voice. Shaking her head quickly the young girl let out a sob almost breaking the kind nurse's heart.
"It's not a nightmare! It's never going to end." The young girl sobbed out her tears soaking through the bandages as the nurse tried to calm the young girl down.
Rather than falling back asleep the young girl just laid there on the bed quietly as she waited for the night to end. Too afraid to fall back asleep, he would be waiting there once again, waiting for the nightmare to stare all over once again. She had grown too scared to sleep at night which resulted in the doctor often having to give her a sleeping medication. That she would not heal without rest, but she deep inside there was wounds the doctors couldn't heal.
Hearing the sound of a knock by the open door, she turned her head knowing it was one of the nurses that switched with the night nurse during the day.
"Miss, would you like to go for a walk?" The slightly younger nurse suggested with a kind smile, her heart warming a little at the sight of the blind girl. Ever since the young girl had been admitted to the hospital the nurse couldn't help but feel sorry for her and made it her own mission to make the young girl happy. Staying silent she only nodded her head before being helped on to a wheelchair before the two went to the small garden behind the hospital.
"The sun feels really nice today doesn't it." The young nurse happily said as she walked down a path around the garden pus.h.i.+ng the girl in front of her. Letting out a small sad smile she stared down at the silent girl feeling her heart troubled. She could see that the young girl had lost a lot of weight and her skin growing pale if the bandages weren't around her eyes the nurse would probably also be able to see her reddened eyes and dark circles. In deep thought, her head turned to the side before her eyes widen with a bright smile. Stopping the nurse rushed over to a flower bush picking up a white rose before crouching down in front of the silent girl brus.h.i.+ng the soft petals of the flower on the girl's cheek.
In alarm, by the sudden touch, the girl let out a small gasp jumping a bit before hearing the small giggle nurse in front of her. Curious she allowed the nurse to take her hand in hers before placing the rose in her hand.
"I know you've experienced bad things before you got here, but there are also very beautiful things worth living for in this world we live in. I know once you leave here you'll get to experience all of those wonderful beautiful things. I believe it." Her mouth opened slightly in surprise at the nurse's kind words feeling her eyes grow teary once again. Taking in a small shaky breath she gave the nurse a small smile as she bends her head down gentle caressing the soft rose petals with her fingertips.
"Thank you."
After, the walk the two made there way back to the hospital room for her regular checkup. Hearing the sound of the door sliding open she turned her head towards the door where the smiling young doctor stood. Smiling gently at her even though she couldn't see, standing to the side the young nurse blushed at the sight of the doctor's smile not help but feel a little envious. Ever since the young girl was admitted in he was a.s.signed personally as her doctor. Often he would come to visit her on his spare time to see how she was doing as well as bring her small gifts like flowers and sweets to cheer the young girl up.
"h.e.l.lo, Miss Fuzuki. How are you feeling today?" The doctor asked as he walked over to her besides gently taking her small wrist in his hand to check her pulse.
"I'm fine. Thank you, Dr. Yamano." Fuzuki replied quietly.
"That's good." Dr. Yamano smiled before his eyes drifted over to the white rose she held gently in her other hand, his smiled widening slightly at the sight.
"It seems you went on a walk. That's good, it'll do you some good to breathe some fresh air rather than stay cooped up in this room." Dr. Yamano told her with a small chuckle writing down some notes on his notepad.
"It seems your eyes should be healed by now. We can take the bandages off now if you'd like." Dr.Yamano told her watching as she subconscious reached up her hand to touch her bandaged eyes nervously.
"Really?" She muttered nervously and a bit scared, the doctors had already told her the possibility of her getting her full sight back after the accident would be slim. Jumping a little bit she felt a warm hand touch her hand before slowly lowering it down from her eyes to sandwich it between their own.
"You don't have to be scared. Everything will be fine."The doctor rea.s.sured her, with a nervous breathe she nodded her head slowly feeling his hands leave hers before feeling his closeness to her. Nervously she felt his take off the small clips holding the bandages together on the back of her head. Clenching her fists on the sheets, she breathed slowly as he unraveled the bandages before they fell off completely. Clenched her eyes closed she felt her body trembled a little from feeling slightly scared and nervous. When she had injured her eyes she was terrified and lost in the world without sight, slowly she had grown used to it and now at this moment, she was terrified for this outcome.
"It's alright." Dr. Yamano rea.s.sured her seeing her nervousness, opening her eyes slowly she felt her eyes instantly burn from the sudden light in the room.
"It's normal for your vision to be blurry the first few minutes as you get used to the light." Dr. Yamano told her still standing beside her. Sitting still her eyes widen to the blurriness of the room before letting out a gasp as she turned to the window gazing at the bright warm color coming from outside. Staring at it in silence her eyes felt watery as her vision cleared up, the first thing she saw was bright warm sun and the beautiful blue sky. Watching as a small bird flew across the sky and the green leaved trees. Feeling a tear stream down her cheek she felt overcome by the simple beauty of it. Something so simple yet something she missed wondering in that blank darkness for so long.
"It's beautiful." She muttered loud enough for the doctor and nurse to hear, in return, the two smiled in relief as the doctor placed his hand on her shoulder.
"This will be a new beginning for you. Renew your life and be happy once again with this fresh start. The spring wind will deliver new beginnings."
