Zoey wore a long blue dress and put her hair into a mini bun; She started preparing for dinner. One by one she washed and sliced all the ingredients she'll be needing before she starts boiling the meat.

While slicing the ingredients, the entrance door opened and Nickel went inside. Happy approached him gladly and wiggling her tail towards the guest. Nickel and Happy's relations.h.i.+p improved from time to time since he is the one feeling her when Zoey isn't available.

"Do you need help?" He asked although he didn't know anything about cooking.

"OH MY G.o.d! You startled me! I didn't notice you arrived." Due to her undisturbed attention, she didn't hear Happy barking at him hastily.

"I've been here a few minutes ago. You really didn't hear anything?" "If I did, I wouldn't be this surprised Nicanor."

Somehow Zoey calling him Nicanor gives him an indescribable feeling; something he couldn't explain in layman's term.

"Okay fine! Is it okay for you if I'll stay here?" Zoey nodded then Nickel pulled one kitchen counter chair and sat.

It was a happy sight for him to see someone dedicated in cooking dinner for him and even though it is supposed to be a thank you gift to him, Nickel couldn't help himself to consider more expectations.

"How long have you been with Happy?" He randomly asked, of course watching her all moves will be too awkward if he continued more.

"Seven or eight years I guess. She was just the abandon dog of my cousin in Montana. I just secretly took her instead of throwing it away." Nickel listened to her as she continued. "Happy was the smallest and weakest of the puppies back then. And because of lack of attention from my cousin. She acquired ticks days after she was born." Nickel didn't know that even a dog like Happy had a tragic story behind.

"My aunt didn't want the other dogs to have what Happy had, so they planned on throwing it out or giving it in to the nearest animal shelter. I asked them if I can have her when they said yes that's the start of our history."

"Why did you decided on keeping her even of she was then smallest and weakest? Didn't it even crosses your mind that Happy was just unfortunate to live in this world?"

"No one is ent.i.tled to live miserable. Even if fate is testing your limits there is always a reason or person in terms of Happy's case to serves as a light and hope. And also, I saw myself to Happy."

"Don't tell me you have ticks when you're young?" and then he laughed but stopped right away when Zoey glared at him deadly.

"I'm just joking, jeez." "I was also an outsider before. My aunt's family despise seeing me around. That is the reason I came up on renting my own place during college so there wouldn't be any reason for them to shoo me away."

Nickel acting like he was about to vomit due to her self-confidence. Even Happy who was happily biting her chew toy suddenly got choke and did a vomit motion after Zoey uttered her words.

"Whatever!" Zoey turned her back and check her pots.
