"She wasn't lost, she was murdered!"
Radley remained quiet and set about preparing the MRE's. He boiled some water for coffee that happened to be in the MRE.
He noticed the popups. Tertiary quest failed: Failed to save both girls. -10 Diff points. Congratulations Achievement achieved: Savoir of a lost Soul. Reward: Upgrade on Power Slam.
Congratulations, huh? It sounded hypocritical to Radley. He whispered to Diff, "What is the achievement for?"
Diff replied, "Someone was suffering and the user made the choice to save the victim by killing her."
"So, it was an insult."
He stood up and made Casey a bed with her things. He knew she was probably going to cry through till night, and he had no way of truly consoling her. Blobby came to lay down next to Radley who scoffed towards the fire.
He had to speak up, "I lost all my loved ones before."
In a teary voice, she asked, "What? How could you possibly define the loss of your most loved one!?"
He smiled, "Her name was Leanne. I and she had a little spat about how I was going about life. I didn't even have the chance to say goodbye. So yes, I know the loss all too well, and how perpetually life-sucking it was. There is no way to describe the pain, but I did vow I would become a better man. Her brother died three years later via suicide after I vowed that I would look after him as well. My mother, my sister. All dead. Heck, even my annoying pig father was dead. I was literally the last of my bloodline left, which meant it was fine for me to go, but not after I got my revenge…I wish I could take your pain away, but there is no way to do that. The best I can do is be there and say I am sorry."
"You think that will absolve you?"
"No, and nor do I ask for forgiveness. I am way beyond gone for that. I only ask that you eat something. When my mother and sister died I didn't eat or drink for three days. It took me weeks to recover. I don't want you to go through that."
He picked up his MRE and shoved it into his bag. He collected the rest of his things and stood up, "With that, I will be taking my leave. I am now sure that you will probably not see me again, but I wish you all the best."
Radley made an attempt to leave when she grabbed Radley and kissed him, "Make love to me. I have never been with a man before, so please be gentle."
Radley shook his head, "Sorry, not interested."
"Is it because I'm ugly?"
"No, it's because you will regret it. Besides, you are definitely not ugly. With those big brown seductress eyes and voluptuous body I am going to say you are ranked right up there."
She chuckled slightly at the comment, "Remember this, Loner. You are the only male I will ever have eyes for."
"Ha, if any other male did what I did it you would have felt the same, and the name is Radley by the way." With that, he turned and walked away.

She smiled as she saw him walk away, "Not true, it's your personality. Guess I have a thing for the calm and collected guys with a depressing past."
Of course, Radley did not hear any of it.
A ways away right at the edge of the great desert Radley remembered that his meal should have been cooked by now. He took out his meal and ate it. Meatloaf and gravy with a side of mashed potatoes. It went down well enough. He looked around for some freshwater before taking on the daunting desert. He sat there overlooking the desert under the shade of a tree. He just killed somebody today. Murder…something he never thought he would ever even consider. His first skeleton in the closet.
He made a makes.h.i.+ft hat using some branches and leaves he could find. He made it with some long flaps on the side to protect him as much as possible from the searing sun. He went back to the freshwater river he found and gathered some mud and covered his exposed part. Hopefully, it would spare him the worst of the heat.
He made his way downwards and started walking. He was already regretting it. He looked at Blobby trotting alongside him, "I hope you drank enough water because I do not know when we will find more."
The strange thing was that the arrow wasn't exactly pointing straight, it was slowly veering off to the left, which puzzled him. He stopped looking at a large crack in the ground, "Diff, you are not broken or anything?"
"a.s.sessing for possible damage…none detected."
"Right, I forgot. Being rhetorical will be useless with you."
He walked down the crack as it slowly started to widen the deeper he went. It suddenly ballooned into a ma.s.sive cavern. It was preposterously large. A person could fit an entire city in it. There were ma.s.sive columns at least twenty storeys high and a few hundred meters (Author note: In feet, it would be safe to say it was almost a thousand feet) in width. Bioluminescent plants were growing up the ma.s.sive pillars creating a lively looking biome. There was just the occasional crack in the ceiling s.h.i.+ning light downwards. He smiled and threw the hat away. There were streams everywhere. So Radley used it to clean himself off. Guess he never needed the mud. There was so much light coming from the plants that he could actually see what he was doing. He grabbed a protein bar from his opened MRE and chowed down on it. A ma.s.sive scorpion with a blue bioluminescent tail and a white carapace walked close by. Radley scanned it. Lumina Ingens Scorpius, Lv.5, Aggressive nature.
Radley smiled. He needed to vent as well as test himself. Normally a level two wouldn't dream of taking a level five beast in a one versus one, but he did take on level five when he was but a level one. He should, in theory, be able to take it on with his abilities.
