"Oh, and why is that?"

"That child was under a protection order."

He raised his hands into the air, "I didn't do nothing all I did was get rid of a body."

Nianda smiled, "How the food by the way?"

"It's amazing. You have outdone yourself. Though, I have to say there is this faint bitterness that offsets the sweetness. You really should tell me how you did it."

She laughed, "The irony. You should have left the child alone, not that it would have made any difference in the end."

"Oh, and why would you say something so ominous?"

Adrian smiled as he placed his hand on her arm, "Let's not dwell on the negative. Let's look to the future. To the fall of the Westside!" He raised his gla.s.s.

Angus cleared his throat. He was starting to sweat and lose his strength, "You poisoned me? How!?"

Adrian spoke, "For a veteran you sure are dumb."

"Crow's feet!? HOW!? I made sure there were none left in town!"

Adrian beckoned Radley over, "Ask him."

Radley hopped into the dining room, "Hi, you thought you could get rid of me that easily?"

"What!? I saw you fall to the poison!?"

Adrian laughed, "I have learned not to question that kid anymore. He is full of surprises."

Radley ran up towards the man and went full power with his axe to his face. Angus's reaction was severely debilitated as the axe connected. Radley even used his ability but all he got was a scratch. Adira intercepted him before the second strike.

"That's enough Radley. You should know by now that you are barely scratching him."

"Still feels good to get it out of my system."

She sighed, "Come here."

She opened his eyelids checking for pupil dilation but found nothing. She checked his pulse and found it normal. She placed her hands on his face like a caring mother, "You scared me there."

He gently put down her hands, "I'm fine…mother."

"I know you are just being condescending, but I rather not have the wrath of the council brought down on this town due to one stupid fool."

"If that's the case, why not just rescind the protection order?"

"Not my decision to make. The winners always get a protection order, yours was just a bit more severely implemented. The council saw you as one of the most prodigious talents in local memory. We take the future very seriously. It's why even the Council takes in level ones and becomes their sponsors."

Nianda was hovering over suffering Angus, "Get away from me woman." She took her own knife and stabbed into his neck. He turned and collapsed to the floor holding his throat trying to staunch the bleeding. She followed up with a series of repeated stabs to his back. There was a dangerous malice in her eyes. There was a lot of blood coming out from the Angus. As he lay on the floor dying. She turned his head sideways and continued the stabbing into his throat. The pupils in his eyes dilated as death embraced him, but still, she continued stabbing him. She then started to sever his head.

Radley found her reaction a bit strange, "Nothing like the wrath of a woman scorned? Am I missing something?"

"We now that he was the man that ordered the hit on my brother. My brother's wife and she were close. Like best friends close. This is my wife venting."

When she was done she was in tears. She threw his head to the ground and continuously stomped onto his head. She was breathing pretty heavily by the time she was done. She turned and ran towards Adrian and hugged him, sobbing all the while.

Something bothered Radley, "Why isn't anyone intervening?"

Adira answered, "Because they hate him as much as we do."

"So, what's next?"

Adrian hugged his wife, "We put his body on display at the Westside. One of two things will happen. They will try and instigate peace talks or they will see an opportunity. The violence runs deep, unfortunately."

"You think this will be the end of the Eastside?"

"Oh, h.e.l.l no. we won't be taking it sitting down."

They gathered some of the workers at Angus's place to help putting the man's body on display. The man did rule with fear after all, so there was little resistance in that regard and a lot of volunteers. They first paraded his corpse through the city and placed his mangled body on a spike in the dead center of the bridge.

Radley told Adira to get the two girls helmets to protect their heads, but not obstruct their vision. She quickly went and bought two helmets meant for lower levels. Radley was already waiting with the two when she arrived. She placed the new helmets in front of them, and the third one a which looked like a crown with two horns going backward. Adira smiled, "Thought you might need it. Couldn't help it when I saw."

Radley picked up the helmet. It was gorgeous. It was a bit of a tight fit but luckily meant that the armor won't sway side to side, "Why?"

"Why not, just be grateful and take it. You are going to be a part of my daughter's team after all."

Elita shook her head, "Other way around, mom. We are going to be a part of Radley's team."

"Fine, fine, you will still be a team."

Radley was still having second thoughts about it all. Something was just niggling him in the back of his head, "Thank you Adira. This is a most gracious gift. Though I want to bring another member into the group."

"Oh, who would that be?"

"If you guys meet him, promise me you won't freak out. Adira I want you to come with."

Adira sighed, "You know we are currently in a very unstable situation. My presence will be needed here."

"I promise it won't take long. We will literally just go down the ropes and then up the stairs. This new member will be needing an escort of higher authority. So that people over here won't go killing it."

"Okay, you got my attention."
