Previously on the Kings Power:

*"It's Yuna, she didn't make it, I'm so sorry Snow."*

------

*"Hereo or Foe? That is what everybody wonders, with her black hoody and soundless black boots, she saves everyone who is in danger. We don't know much about her, or where she comes from, but what we do know is, she's already got a name, vigilante.

She first appeared two nights ago, and it looks like she's going strong.

Should we welcome her with open arms, who is this girl, and who will she save next?"*

-----

*"Lets see who is under this hoody," one who snuck up from behind tried to pull of the hoody and reveal Snow's face, but unfortunately for him, Snow knew he was behind her, and before he could even touch her, Snow spun around, grabbed him by the collar and threw him into one of the shop's racks in front of them.

He groaned before sitting upright, Snow could hear him curse under his breath, but she didn't bother to hear what he had to say.

Out of the corner of the room there came a chuckle, "well, what did you expect would happen? You can't go revealing faces that aren't meant to be revealed," the voice said, before stepping into the light, he too wore a mask, but his bright blue eyes shone clearly through the darkness.*

Present:

It's been a 3 days since Yuna pa.s.sed away, and everyday has been torture for Snow and her friends. Snow haven't talked to any of them since they brought her the news. All of them has moved back to their dorm rooms in the Guardian Core building. Snow knows she has to go back too, but she can't face her room full of Yuna's things yet. Today is her Funeral.

Snow is getting ready, she left her room yesterday for the first time to go buy something for the funeral. It's a black dress with a V-neck and with half sleeves. The dress fits her body perfectly. Her brown hair is made in a lose bun and Snow just finished with the final touches on her makeup.

She looked at herself in the mirror, remembering all the times she and Yuna used to play dress up, and doing each other's hair. Yuna always loved to play with her hair, no matter how old she gets.

There was a nock on her door.

"Enter." Snow told the person on the other side of the door. She wondered who it could be. She glanced at the watch on her wall and saw it's almost time to leave.

"My child, you look beautifull." Snow's head snapped to the door where her grandmother stood, also wearing all black. Snow rushed to her grandmother and engulfed her in a big hug. She tried to control herself, because if she cried now she is going to mess up her makeup.

After a few minutes they pulled away. Snow's grandmother caressed Snow's cheek, looking at her with a worried smile.

"Are you alright to do this, my child?"

Snow took a few moments before answering.

"I'm fine. I can do this. I have to." She turned around and gathered her things. ''Are you riding with us, grandmother?"

"Yes, the King said it would be best for the morale support for you, as he said you and Noctis are not talking to each other?" Snow's grandmother lifted her eyebrow in question.

Snow sighed, she knew she would have to tell her grandmother about Nate, one or the other way. So she did. She told her about when Yuna was in the hospital, that Nate was there to comfort her, and cheer her up the next day when she ended up Down Town, and then when they shared a kiss a few nights ago.The whole time her grandmother said nothing, just nodding her head a few times and her eyes widend for a second before turning to normal. When Snow finished talking she waited for a response.

"And I a.s.sume Noctis wasn't very fond of the idea of you and Nate spending so much time together." Snow only nodded.

"Does he know about the kiss and that Nate spend the night here, even though nothing happened?" Snow's grandmother asked her.

"No. I couldn't tell him. I could only imagine the hurt he would feel if I did." Snow answered honestly.

"You are going to have to tell him, Snow. Before somebody else tells him about your little romance." Snow knows she'll have to do it, before somebody else does, but then again n.o.body knows about their little kiss.

"Aren't you going to wear the neckless prince Noctis gave you?" Snow's eyes flitted to the neckless lying on her table.

"No, I don't think it's the right time, but I will have to give it back, I'm sure Noctis would want it back."

Her grandmother nodded before they both headed toward the door. Snow's mind wandered back to the neckless, and she thought about when he gave it to her.

*The festival day:

"What's wrong, is something bothering you?" Snow heard the prince ask.

"No, I'm just thinking, that's all," she replied, but something was bothering her, somehow Noctis again read her mind and said, "I know something is bothering you,-" he sat up straight, and lifted her chin to face him, "- are you worried about me leaving in two weeks?"

"Something like that," she said trying not to meet his eyes, but he wouldn't have any of it, he lifted her chin so that he could see directly in her eyes, when he finally caught her eyes he smiled, "you don't have to worry about me, I will have my friends to protect me, and it's just for a few weeks, I'll be back before you know it."

"What if you never come back, we both have heard about the demons being restless," Snow argued.

Noctis laughed, "you really are worried about me, aren't you?" He said with a smirk on his face, "so what if I am Noctis, I have a reason to be you know," Snow said with a glare, to which the prince just laughed again before resting his back agains the chair, his leg were crossed over the other one and he was staring calmly at the sun set, she had a confused look on her face, how can he be so calm about it, he could die out there, or didn't he even care about any of it.

"I am serious Noctis," she said, trying to reason with him.

"I know you are," he said calmly, before returning his gaze to Snow, when he saw her expression that was mixed with anger and worry, he smiled. He couldn't hold it against her, if she was going on a road trip while these monsters were out there, he would be worried too, he knows that both of them has grown attached to each other for spending so much time together.

"Okay, how about this," he reached for his neck and unclipped something revealing a neckless, Snow's eyes widened upon seeing it, the neckless had a black circle where the two chains came together, with a red diamond in the middle.

The royals liked wearing these things, each one had a specific colour matching to their personalities.

"Turn around," Noctis ordered, Snow could see he was serious and he was not going to take no for an answer, so she obediently turned around. She felt the neckless coming around her neck and being clipped on.

She looked down to see the black chain, and suddenly the hair on the back of her neck stood up when she heard Noctis whisper in her ear, "now I will have to come back."*

-------

*Present:

Snow's thoughts stopped when she felt the carriage stop. Her grandmother climbed out. Snow took a shaky, deep breath before she followed her grandmother.

Snow could see the guardian core in their uniforms. It's a tradition to honour a fallen member of the guardian core. Everyone has to come with their uniforms, and the grave is made up with decorations to show that the person was part of the troops. They usually stand at the back to respect the family members. Cid send her a message to say that it's not necessary for her to dress in her uniform. She understands that Snow would feel better in her normal clothes and that she would like to stand at front with the family members, as she is practically family.

The funeral was over quickly. Snow had paid her respects to Yuna's parents before it started, so she could leave immediately. She wasn't in the mood to mingle and wanted to return to the palace immediately. Snow went to talk with the king to find out how long she can stay.

"You can stay as long as you like, there is no rush. With Miss Yuna that pa.s.sed away, I can understand how difficult it would be for you to stay in that room all on your own. I will arrange for your stuff to be moved to the palace, so you can stay there permanently."

Snow didn't know what to say. She was shocked, but mostly relieved. She didn't want to go back, and if she is honest, with a bit of time she would have asked Cid, the guardian core leader, for a new room.

"Thank you, sire. I really appreciate it." Snow bowed, before turning around. Just then she saw Noctis walking toward her.

"How have you been doing?" Noctis asked her, when he reached her.

"I'm fine." Snow said looking him dead in the eye.

"I'm glad." Snow didn't know what to say to him. She could feel the tension between them. When she looked over his shoulder she saw a blond figure standing near a tree. She immediately knew who it was, they locked eyes for a moment and Snow's heart made a couple of leaps.

"Listen, Snow, I just want to apologize for the way I've been acting. Before Yuna's death, and then ignoring you after her death. I should've been there for you, and I'm sorry for that." Noctis searched for Snow's eyes. She didn't expect him to do that. She didn't expect anything from him.

"It's alright, I know you've got a lot of things on your plate." Snow smiled a small smile, she missed his friends.h.i.+p.

"I will see you tonight, Snow, then we can talk properly. There is something I want to discuss with you." Noctis told her before moving on to talk with his father.

Snow only nodded. She wondered what he wanted to talk about, but pushes the thought away as she moved toward the figure standing near the tree. He smirked at her when he saw her approaching.

"Thought I'd have to wait all day for you to finish up with your little conversation."

Snow's mouth betrayed a smile that was busy forming.

"What, are you jealous?" Snow asked him.

His smile grew more mischievously as she talked.

"Of course, I mean, you belong to me, the prince should know not to mess around with another guys girl. So what do you expect?"

Snow laughed at his ridiculousness.

"I don't belong to anyone, Nate." Snow said, crossing her arms.

''Oh, really, that's what you think." Nate said, grabbing Snow's hips and spinning her around, pinning her to the back of the tree, away from the guests.

Snow yelped, before trying to pry him off.

"Nate! Someone might see us." Snow looked around the tree, to see if anybody is looking.

Nate stepped away from her looking Snow in the eyes.

"Afraid that Noctis might see us."

"What?" Snow looked at him with wide eyes.

"You are afraid that Noctis might see us, or are you afraid to show everybody that you are dating a lowlife." Nate glared at Snow.

"What? Why would you even say that? Nate, you know that's not true! You know I don't see you that way, and we are not dating, you never even asked me on a date." Snow said. She couldn't believe that Nate would say that to her.

"Oh, but it is, Snow. Why would you care who saw us then if it wasn't true?"

"Because don't you think this is the wrong place to be goofing off? And I haven't told Noctis about us, that's why."

Nate sighed.

"You're right, I'm sorry. I immediately thought the worst." Nate took one of Snow's hands in his.

"It's fine, but please, stop thinking the worst of me, you know I would never think that of you." Snow squeezed his hand letting her other hand cup his face.

He only nodded, but then suddenly a smile broke through his face.

"I should have known you were the type of girl who likes to sneak around." Nate's eyes moved along Snow's body. Snow laughed before pus.h.i.+ng him away.

"I'm not." She laughed.

Nate's eyes grew softer, and he watched Snow.

"It's good to see you smile."

Snow didn't know what to say, so instead she only nodded. She averted her gaze toward the ground. She still isn't use to the fact that Yuna's gone. Everyday she thinks that she should go the hospital to check on Yuna, but then that startling pain returns to remind her that she is gone, and she is reminded that she will never see her best friend again. Just then she felt a hand lift her chin up.

"No, no. I will not allow my princess to cry. I know it's hard to lose somebody you love, and you will probably miss her everyday of your life, but it's important to remember they're not really gone, as long as you remember them and keep them close to your heart." Nate wiped something on Snow's face, which made her realise that she was crying again.

Snow looked up at Nate, seeing his dark blue eyes in front of her. She could see that vulnerability in his eyes. She once saw it before, when he was in her room before Noctis walked in. She saw the hurt, and pain, and she still wondered what caused it.

"Thank you, Nate." Snow looked at him, voice breaking. Suddenly she was engulfed in a hug.

"It's my pleasure, Snow. I hate seeing you this way." He hugged her tightly. Kissing her head, briefly, but she could feel the pa.s.sion in that kiss.

They pulled away after a few minutes, when Snow heard her name. It was her grandmother, she was ready to leave.

"I have to go. Thank you, Nate, for everything and for being here." Snow wiped her nose, stepping away from him.

"Anytime, princess. I'm always here for you, you know that." Nate looked at Snow, his gaze warm.

She wanted to reach out to him so bad, to feel his lips on hers, but she has to control herself.

Snow moved away from him, toward her grandmother.

"There you are, my dear. I almost thought you left without me." Snow's grandmother smiled her usual soft smile at her.

"No, I just wanted some time alone, away from all the people."

Her grandmother only nodded, not saying anything.

They made their way to their carriage and rode back to the castle, no one saying anything, each of them lost in their thoughts. Snow wondered what Noctis wanted to talk about, but after that she is going out, she needs to relieve some of her frustrations, and it's time for the Black Vigilante to make her appearance again.
