"Good day, please make way for Mr. Clint Briggs." The emcee announced.
Everyone's attention falls on the middle-aged man with his wife on his side.
"It's nice to see you all and I thank you for coming over for this urgent press conference. And I also apologize for the postponed press conference days ago." Mr. Clint says as his introduction.
Clint Briggs bowed as well as his wife, Helen.
"Mr. Briggs," one of the reporters bravely interrupted, "we are here because we are all eager to know the truth about the latest news regarding your son, Clifford Briggs and your EVP, Ingrid Howard, is it true that they were secretly married?"
"As much as I want to confirm that it's true but unfortunately, no, they were not secretly married. I wouldn't allow that either," Clint Briggs laughs, "I wouldn't miss it for the world. Ingrid deserved the best wedding, a wedding fit for a princess." He continued.
"But why are there rumors that arise like this? Do you know who started it?"
"As for now, we have no lead yet of that person," another reporter raise his hands for him to acknowledge.
"Is it true that Ingrid Howard has a child through an IVF?"
"I have no right to answer for that question, but if she did, why are you making it an issue? Is it illegal to do so?" Clint Briggs answered.
"But if she or she did not do an IVF, who is the child's father? They said that Mr. Clifford Briggs and the child resembled each other could you confirm this? Do you know if they have already in contact before?"
"As to that question, we have no clue on that matter." Clifford did not specify which of the question he is referring to because he could not disclose any information about it, yet.
Clint continued, "My son and I just reunited with some reasons, I bet you know it." He winked at them. "...and for that matter, I would never want to ruin our progressing relations.h.i.+p as father and son by intruding his personal life. My son, is old enough to decide on his own and whatever he did in the past, I, his father will just be here to uphold him. This old man here has only few years left and I want to spend it rightly with him and my wife." He said those with so much fervour that the reporters were amaze.
"My wife and I will be remarried soon and we can't wait to recover our lost years together and most importantly with my son, Clifford. I am hoping that you will give us some privacy regarding the matter." He politely pleaded.
"Look at this photo taken earlier Mr. Briggs," another reporter showed a latest photo of Clifford and Ingrid arriving at the airport.
Clint and Helen looked at it and they were so moved at the sight of it.
"Look at your son, Clint. He is really different around Ingrid. Notice how he looks at her." Helen whispered. Clint nodded in amus.e.m.e.nt.
"Also there's a video here where Ingrid scolded one of the reporters named Maya Holmes, please look at it."
The couple gasp while watching the video and did not say a word.
"What do you think, Mr. Briggs? Is she threatening Maya Holmes? What if something happens to Maya Holmes, will Miss Howard take responsibility for it? I think Miss Howard overreacted with the questions she was asked and her actions only proved that the issues are true." One reporter maliciously attacks the Briggs with the intent to make another juicy scandal.
The PR Manager answered, "I think it's out of the question, Mr. reporter." But Helen Briggs waved and answered.
"I am a mother, too. If that happens to me I would do the same and even more. As a mother you will do and can do anything to protect your child. And I think that reporter put her in the right place. Ingrid did that as a mother would do to her child, she just warned her, right?"
"But that is only part of our job, to ask questions." The reporter reb.u.t.ted and some of them agreed.
"Yes, I know this is part of your work, but what Ingrid did is also part of her motherly duties. You could ask some mothers if you like and ask them what will they do if they are in that situation, I bet a million that they will do the same." She smiled but deep down Helen she is already boiling with irritation.
'How dare you bully my daughter-in-law and my grandson!'
