The moment he heard her reply he was immediately thrown to what he suspects a very deep hole. He wanted to shout for help but no one could hear him. He wanted to escape, but how? The place is so dark and he keeps on falling, and there's nothing he could grasp but darkness and it slowly filled his heart...

His forehead sweated and felt like there's some pain in his heart causing him to struggle on his breathing. Then he realized he's in a nightmare and he needs to fight so hard and he tried to move his body to resist this attack.

"Hhmmmnn, this is just a nightmare! I must overcome this." he moaned and screamed in his mind. "oh sweet Lord, help me!"

In a swift moment, he saw a light and some gentle hands pulled him up and then he finally opened his eyes, caught his breath and without delay he looked at his wife who is still peacefully asleep. His panic stricken face gradually relaxes and his breathing becomes normal again.

"Was it all a dream? But I just had barely dozed off? Was I that tired? Thank You, Lord for waking me up!" gratefulness filled his heart and he reached out her hand and holds it between his two hands. "I thought I have lost you… please come back to me. G.o.d, don't let her lose her memory, I couldn't take it. That will be the end of me."

For the first time in his life he experienced a nightmare that seems so true to him.

Two weeks have pa.s.sed but still Ingrid did not wake up but the doctor a.s.sured him that she's already in a stable condition. It was good news but somehow, Clifford couldn't wait more especially that their twins are now growing and they're healthy and he can't wait, too, to carry them in his arms, but it will be in vain if his precious wife is still not awake.

He also decided that the moment Ingrid wakes up, he will then inform his mother-in-law and his parents about what happened. But how he will do it, he'll just cross the bridge when he gets there. He already antic.i.p.ated that they'll be devastated and even be hurt by his decision to conceal the matter but it no longer an issue to him as long as his dearest wife awakes.

Ingrid was already transferred to a presidential suite and still with tight security. He never leaves her side and all Ingrid's work was handled by him secretly while Lance becomes the representative. Clifford was juggling works while he was looking out for his wife and the presidential suite had become his office as well.

He contacted his sister Rhonna to present him in all his businesses, while Gary monitored any news that will pop up on the internet about his wife and would immediately delete everything.

As he was near the end of reading some doc.u.ments he suddenly remembered the dialogue he had with Vanessa. He was confused why she knew about the incident and said that she learned it from the news when in fact no one knows about it except those who were present in the company and those who are a.s.sisting them in the hospital and to his knowledge all of them signed a contract that no one should leak information about what happened and if they do, they will all be legally liable for it.

So, he called Gary.

"Gary, I was just wondering, how on earth did Miss Reiley manage to know about my wife's condition?"

"I was asking that to myself, as well, sir. So I had urged my brother to investigate her and anytime soon, they will have their answer."

"Hmmm…" just like that the call ended.

He rested for a while before he decided to go to the nursery again to check the twins. He has been physically tired for weeks but he knows that it will be worth it the moment his wife opened her eyes. Releasing a heavy sigh, he stood up and his strides are heavy just like his heart. He has loads of burdens to carry and he misses his son so much that it hurts, too. Who keeps on calling him every single day and that he had to tell a lie every single time he's looking for his mom.

One time when he received a call from Clark so he prepared himself before he answered his son. After they exchanged pleasantries, his son immediately looks from his side to side to have a glimpse of his mother.

"Dad, where's mom? What alibi will you tell me today?" the man was caught off guard and becomes tongue tied.

"h-huh? What alibi?" Clifford showed a bewildered expression.

"Because every time I asked where mom was, you always gave me alibis, like she was in the bathroom, she's using the toilet or she's having a meeting or a conference, or talking over a phone with a client and the last time you told me that she went shopping, but you did not go with her. This is the first time that I haven't seen my mom for so long and she didn't even gave me a farewell kiss or even personally called me that she'll be gone for so long, she isn't like that. Is there something bad happened to my mommy, dad?"

The child's face was gloomy and his eyes are close to tears and sadness is very evident in him. He knows that the child will do everything to know their whereabouts. Clifford cringed as he looked at his son and how we wanted to go to him, to comfort him, but he could not. He must muster his emotions.

He huffed and stared at his son with sincerity.

"Son, I know you missed mommy so much but for now, I just can't tell you everything, I know that you will not understand everything and why she's still not available but if everything is okay around here, I will be the one to call you okay?"

"Okay daddy! But one last question, how are the twins, are they okay?" Clifford's eyes shows bitterness but immediately wipes it out and placed a forced smile on his lips.

"Love, I'm gonna go to the nursery again to check on the twins I'll be back as soon as possible, okay? I love you." he then leaned and gently kisses her on her forehead.

He squeezed her hand tenderly before he finally decided to leave but he stopped when he felt that Ingrid's hand responded to his hold.
